I think you would probably need an adult with you to add to the ATT contract, and then the phone has to be activated through iTunes, and I believe they ask for a credit card, although it has been awhile since I did mine.
Not different enough for me to buy one. I'm a bit annoyed with the new iPhone 3G, they didn't add video capabilities to it and that's what I really wanted. Also, the area I live in does not have 3G coverage, so basically I would only be paying for GPS and it just doesn't seem worth it to me.

You have to get an unlimited data plan in the US to get an iPhone, so with that plan checking email does not cost any extra money.
