  • best, if you ask me

  • How the hell can the audience be so still!! I would have banged my fucking head off!!

  • @jaisrivastava123 i recall someone commenting on You Tube, that BBC prohibited any emotion during concert, maybe it's because that the people (girls) that watch bands like The Beatles, Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, etc would always scream like hell,..and yes maybe laughter and applause allowed...that is just my opinion :)

  • Lord made Deep Purple. And I'm not particularly into indulgent soloing from anyone - if you need to show off, make it seamlessly fit into the song in relatively short blasts and then get back to those monster riffs.

  • Whao, I love the begining

  • Jon Lord, please...teach me to play organ :D

  • Fuck John Lord is a self indulgent prick... he ruins DP for me personally. I hate those extended shrill sounding organ solos.

  • @jimmyzo3o... without jon lord deep purple would have been like black sabbath.. but then with somewhat more psychedelic sounds to it

  • @roryisgoed without jon lord deep purple would not have been.

  • @iaacaufnahmen Maybe so, but he could have been a little less self indulgent... Fuck me he's worse than any self indulgent guitarist that ever existed.

  • Comment removed

  • @jimmyzo3o yeah, god bless jon lords self-indulgentness :DDD

That's what make Deep Purple different to any other hard-rock band: the tension between the two self-indulgent musical genius ritchie and jon (or later: between steve and jon)

  • @jimmyzo3o seriously, its like shut the fuck up already. like on "Child in Time" live when i heard him come in and take over Ritchies first solo part , that was it for me. i don't like him that much

  • @Tallcansintheair Thank you man! My reasoning exactly, with a guy like Blackmore there I want to hear him play the extended leads, not some rinky-dink organ solo.

  • 4 people thought the guitar playing was fake due to the epicness of it

  • Now come on, you can't say he is better than Jimmy Page, perhaps the words would be amazing incredible guitarist in a DIFFERENT manner than Jimmy Page

  • @frowtime nah mate he is just better

  • MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN JIMMY PAGE

  • Jon Lord is simply famous!

  • Ritchie is a god of gibson ES-335

  • Шо там за діти сидять в залі????

  • @fitline100 Школьники :) ?

  • Blackmore's face at 3:13 = "Yeah, I know I'm a bad ass motherfucker!"

  • Jon Lord is a fuckin God.

  • @ricardogs2010 I listened to them in Rome on 1071 , april. Unfrogettable!

  • @ricardogs2010 I listened to them in Rome on 1971 , april. Unforgettable!

  • @ricardogs2010 I listened to them in Rome, on 1971, april. Unforgettable!

  • @albertop952 amazing man. I really wish I was born at the time. No way in hell I would miss one of their shows xD

  • fender sucks! gibson rules >:D

  • @Shagofull ritchie loves fender !! FENDER rulez

  • can anyone tab the lick at 1:45? it's so damn fast i cant tell how many notes there are

  • Amazing!

  • Isn't his neck getting hurt when his shaking his head while playing guitar? Well that's the name of the song... XDXDXD

  • Ritchie in his pre-Stratocaster days.

  • Ritchie's guitar bumps the camera at 1:54 !

  • Best intro jam ever.

  • this is better than jimmy page!

  • @Amatteny It's the same level to me ;P

  • @Amatteny By a mile.

  • @Amatteny You wish...

  • @Amatteny De hecho y eso que no es su mejor presentacion de Wring that neck.

  • @Amatteny yeah, Jimmy doesn't play the organ ^^ Jimmy and Blackmore are at the same level. Totally different styles, you can't compare them man

  • @Amatteny Yes, he is. He is the best ever. :)

  • In the music school I play this song on guitar. It's a very difficult one - belief me guys!

  • Blackmores play isn`t worth a shit here, just over rated non sense. lol

  • Jon Lord you are the master at organ!!! I want to play so bad and makemusic like this...nothing nowadays comes close to this!

  • I laughed at 3:38. xD

  • Do you believe in traveling in time ?

  • These were the deep purple's good times...

  • Unlike other great guitarists, Ritchie makes me wanna play guitar cause he makes it look so awesome.

  • Grande jon lord

  • I Can´t close my eyes. Master.

  • Jon Lord and Blackmore are gods. The rest of the band is totally awesome as well.

  • Whos neck did they want to ring. Ha ha the record company, us Deep Purple fans

In the US this song was called Hard Road

    .

  • fucking EPIC

  • It is the only one thing I can actualy say 'bout Ritchie Blackmore - HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!

  • AlltimeFavs.

I´m a fan of this awsome guys just like over 13years[since my dad gave me the "Machine Head" Album], I saw them 6times and would love to be born earlier to see MK II.

[13Years ago my dad gave me the "Machine Head" Album]

Well... Atm I´m 16 years old - so Deep Purple for life?! :D

  • For those times it is unimaginable skills which has shown by mr.Blackmore!!!

  • is it possible to buy this concert on dvd or somethin'?

    This show is fucking awesome!

  • @gono8

    ...................not really, no

  • @gono8

    Amazon. Live in Brazil

  • @44SuperShredder

ah nice! Thank you very much!

  • where were they playin

  • @PERRYFILM

    Some bbc studio i think

  • i cant belive the skill of blackmore i mean imagine getting a gibson 335 a jazz guitar and then shredding on it it looks so wrong but it must be harder to play on something that big as opposed to a strat or les paul brilliant guitar legend long live sir blackmore

  • Like my multiinstrumentalist friend said, The Uncrowned King. :)

  • Blackmore is a genius!!

  • This shit is GUD !!!

  • I wonder if this got/gets a DVD release :)

  • @MoonchildMindaugas2 This is from a DVD stupid XD

  • Oh, great :)

I just thought it was from someone's vaults.

  • Shit, this makes me feel alive

  • puta el publico fome wn

  • Ritche looks as though something's bothering him at

    0:44

  • Try to find a video from his purple days were there isn't a moment that he looks bothered.

He always looks like something is bothering, missing. I call it his disaproval look

  • awesome song

  • He isn't playing strat yet, he should've sticked to Gibson ES-335 from this video.

Our an SG but why a Strat? God why...?

  • He sold it in like 1974. I know he used it on the Recording for "Smoke on the Water". I do know this: He got his Strat from Eric Clapton at one of his Charities.

  • I know he used it till Deep Purple in Rock and after that he uses the strat. But about the gibson I heared a different story. I heared it was stolen by his first wive, and he especially liked the neck of the gibson but he said the stratocaster was harder to work on but had more bite (strat has a fat neck and solid sounds more sustained)

  • nah, nah. he used the gibson for Machine head too. Btw, you know Rainer Baumann uses the smae type of guitar? one of my friends thinks that after his wife stole it {as you said previously} she probably sold it to Baumann. But that aint true.

He completley stopped using it around 1973, release of "Who do we think we are?".

  • Cause Strats can be mean, man...

  • Listen to Machine Head and you'll know.

  • Good sound quality btw.! :)

  • wooooooooooo!!!

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

    {right back atcha,man}

  • The Hammond Organ Co. should rename the B3 after Jon Lord.

  • Jon Lord has MAD skills!!! Hammond Organ masters should be recognized.

  • 4:11-4:17 {WTF?}

  • 3:38-3:41 : {weirdly enough} Jingle Bells

  • Comment removed

  • Jon Lord, man. At the beginning, he's a FREEKIN MONSTER on that Hammond B3! Great Work!

  • 4:11 = win

  • Comment removed

  • Surely you must see the brilliance of playing your guitar with the edge of a platform :)

  • deep purple rocks

  • ritchie is the chief

  • im going to be hang for this.... but this guy on a gibson is even better than with the fender.

  • John effin Lord!

  • 3:38 jaja

But maybe its the angle of the camera xD

  • Rock and Roll explosion!

  • this first became available as 'doing their thing' on vhs years ago (try ebay,i might even sell my copy lol)but it is now available on 'masters from the vaults'.the full thing was only around 25 minutes long, but was just sheer magic, with 'child in time, speed king, wring that neck, and mandrake root improv'.check out george best in the pink sweater lol.also on this dvd are performances of 'hallelujah,no no no,and highway star, and some by gillan with his own band.def a must for any mk2 purple fan

  • WOOOOOOOOW!!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!! THANKS!!!!!

Ritchie is one of my favorite guitarists!!!!!

BUT!!!! Thanopagratis is way much better than Ritchie!!!!

(Just joking!!! xD :P ritchie is god!!!!!)

From wich live is this video? Thanks!!!

  • The concert is called Doing Their Thing (or Things). I don't think it's been released, and there are only bits of it available in the Internet - I'm not sure if you get all of them you'll get the whole concert. Anyone knows the set-list?

  • you sucked of a horse

  • Oh yeah, as allways, white men are so racist! McCain rulz, isn't it?

  • no I like Obama a lot better. Besides Phil Lynott is one of the greatest heroes in my mind, how racist is that?

  • Oops, I meant thumbs up to antiabe.

  • Oh yeah? Well, without oldies even your Snoopie Dookie wouldn't have existed!

  • Maghole couldnt say it better

  • thanks mate!

  • Now... let's see a 'how to play' vid for that.. :)~~~

    Unbefuckinglievable

  • Me alegró el día este video.

    =)

  • Blackmore... still one of my favorite guitarists.

2:42 watch the black guy in the background ^^

  • I can accept that people have other favourite guitarists than Blackmore(but I dont get why;P), but when people say he is nowhere near Page's, Clapton's (and so on) level, I want to shoot them! To be musically serious, no one could even touch Blackmore in guitar playing from 1969-1977! I also have friends who have diffirent fav guitarists, but they all agree that RB is on a diffirent level!

  • Absolutely true! Same here :D Though I do, erm, like Page and Clapton... but Ritchie is unbeatable! Even his teacher Jimi wasn't as good... quite close, though.

  • Ritchie is God!

so... Long live Rock & Roll!

I love when ritchie play jingle bells

  • Lo mejor del rock clasico....Ritchie Blackmore...desde Chile un Markamaru.

    Marino

  • Only Ritchie can make "Jingle Bells" look good on guitar

  • i love 2:46, u think he is going to explode, but he just backs the voloume and plays "god save the queen" =9

  • Dude, at 3.34 that was beatiful, what is that?

  • Thats "Greensleves" an old folk tune

  • how does ritchie do that at 1.44?

  • This is gold

  • I'd say Platinum.

Saw 'em live last saturday, sadly Blackmoore and Lord ain't playing with them, still rocked my socks off.

Easy one of the best bands ever.

  • Alguien sabe de que tema toca Ritchie en el 2:50?

Does anyone know what is Ritchie playing at 2:50?

  • Luv it :D !!!

  • people in the background don't seem to be very impressed by their performance

  • They're just mezmerized ;)

  • dude at 40 seconds it sounds like horror music lol and at .43 richie is like "its alive!" haha

  • this is a greanhouse effect song. this guys arent doin it very well either

  • Owns Eddie Vanhalen.

  • Ladies and Gentleman, the Greatest Guitar Player in history: RITCHIE BLACKMORE

  • One interresting fact about Ritchie is that his main influences were country and classical music, not blues like most guitarists in his days.

    Amazing player.

  • Well, Hendrix actually was his hero :)

  • that is not everything! His Influences are very different, Not only classical and Country, Wes Montgomery, Les Paul are other important influences.

  • I also said "main" not "only"(Hope you didn's misunderstand me :)). But thanks for that information, I didn't know that.

  • No, totaly ok!!I allways like people who are interesting in good old Richie! A good example for his jazzy side: "Deep Purple - Wring That Neck, Part 2" here on youtube..

  • ...or part one, listen to both, great version of wring that neck.

  • ...and Django Reinhard!!!! Listen to his phrasing and his way to play the harmonic minor scale.

  • :D YEAH, 10 thumbs up!

  • very different version. Really clear video

  • Jon Lord, genio supremo!!

  • This is better than any band has ever done!

  • Yeah, they are the best in my mind, only matched by Pink Floyd.

  • can anyone tell what is the guitar?

  • Type? Gibson ES-335. Blackmore used that in the early days

  • For me it's magic,

    when listen I feel good!

  • Totally agree =)

o Knocking at your Backdoor en vivo

  • Hola hermano, no soy un erudito pero admiro mucho a Jon Lord,en mi opinion es una perfecta impro de Lord aunq si se oye muy a la Bach.

  • I LOVE THIS GUYS.

  • The music at 1:20 is just awesome, they should have based the whole song on that line

  • That's what the song is like in the studio version

  • Great!

  • That fingerpicking part is justice

Does anyone know from which piece is what Ritchie plays at 2:50?? simply great...

  • it is by Bach

  • Deep Purple to mój ulubiony zespół. A ten utwór jest bardzo fajny.
