@jaisrivastava123 i recall someone commenting on You Tube, that BBC prohibited any emotion during concert, maybe it's because that the people (girls) that watch bands like The Beatles, Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, etc would always scream like hell,..and yes maybe laughter and applause allowed...that is just my opinion :)
Lord made Deep Purple. And I'm not particularly into indulgent soloing from anyone - if you need to show off, make it seamlessly fit into the song in relatively short blasts and then get back to those monster riffs.
@iaacaufnahmen Maybe so, but he could have been a little less self indulgent... Fuck me he's worse than any self indulgent guitarist that ever existed.
@jimmyzo3o yeah, god bless jon lords self-indulgentness :DDD
That's what make Deep Purple different to any other hard-rock band: the tension between the two self-indulgent musical genius ritchie and jon (or later: between steve and jon)
@jimmyzo3o seriously, its like shut the fuck up already. like on "Child in Time" live when i heard him come in and take over Ritchies first solo part , that was it for me. i don't like him that much
@Tallcansintheair Thank you man! My reasoning exactly, with a guy like Blackmore there I want to hear him play the extended leads, not some rinky-dink organ solo.
Now come on, you can't say he is better than Jimmy Page, perhaps the words would be amazing incredible guitarist in a DIFFERENT manner than Jimmy Page
I´m a fan of this awsome guys just like over 13years[since my dad gave me the "Machine Head" Album], I saw them 6times and would love to be born earlier to see MK II.
[13Years ago my dad gave me the "Machine Head" Album]
Well... Atm I´m 16 years old - so Deep Purple for life?! :D
i cant belive the skill of blackmore i mean imagine getting a gibson 335 a jazz guitar and then shredding on it it looks so wrong but it must be harder to play on something that big as opposed to a strat or les paul brilliant guitar legend long live sir blackmore
He sold it in like 1974. I know he used it on the Recording for "Smoke on the Water". I do know this: He got his Strat from Eric Clapton at one of his Charities.
I know he used it till Deep Purple in Rock and after that he uses the strat. But about the gibson I heared a different story. I heared it was stolen by his first wive, and he especially liked the neck of the gibson but he said the stratocaster was harder to work on but had more bite (strat has a fat neck and solid sounds more sustained)
nah, nah. he used the gibson for Machine head too. Btw, you know Rainer Baumann uses the smae type of guitar? one of my friends thinks that after his wife stole it {as you said previously} she probably sold it to Baumann. But that aint true.
He completley stopped using it around 1973, release of "Who do we think we are?".
this first became available as 'doing their thing' on vhs years ago (try ebay,i might even sell my copy lol)but it is now available on 'masters from the vaults'.the full thing was only around 25 minutes long, but was just sheer magic, with 'child in time, speed king, wring that neck, and mandrake root improv'.check out george best in the pink sweater lol.also on this dvd are performances of 'hallelujah,no no no,and highway star, and some by gillan with his own band.def a must for any mk2 purple fan
