I know he'll never see this comment but im gonna post it anyways because im half asleep XD, from everyone in my family(all huskies fans) we miss that number 34 squirming out of the backfield. Anyways, good luck in the NFL, you got "The Admiral" at quarterback, you'll do great.
4.46 in the 40 and yes, he can block. Kiper mentioned it during the draft pick. The organization mentioned it when they discussed the pick.
He also looks like he protects the ball pretty well and changes hands fluidly. Nice little stiff arm. Solid moves, excellent vision and patience. Catches the ball.
Smart player - knows when and how to avoid the hit. Probably also has an excellent grasp of blocking schemes and routes..
this guy is gravy, hope the colts see what they have in this guy and dont give that loser addai too many carries. brown is great but hes gota get on the field, i think the colts know whats up, addai 3.5 ypc last year... on a spread offence that opens up running lanes thats not acceptable, brown would go for 3.5 ypc running backwards on the colts.
"fit right in with the Colts" perhaps... but he's not BLAZING fast (NCAA Corners are catching him in the open field). Can he block? That's probably going to be the true-test for Brown in 2009. We know Addai can block, and Peyton's comfort is really what matters.
Looks like he's going to be a pretty good back, really follows his blocks, very patient that will bode well for him in the NFL. I also hear he is very strong. My only concern is he is definitely not very fast and that may be his only weakness as guys at this level are all fast.
Definitely has shades of Barry Sanders. So smooth. And I don't know if I've seen a more patient runner come out of college than this guy. He'll fit in well at Indy, for sure.
very talented back, I think he should have a productive career...one concern is at 210 lbs, despite his strength for his size, he may not ever be able to take the pounding that goes with being an every down back. if he can put the weight on and keep the speed an explosiveness i think the colts are on to a winner
but hey, adrian peterson isn't an every down back, and people already consider him the best,
This was a perfect pickup for the Colts, taken brown over wells was the best for this team. Wells would of never fit into the Colts offense,Brown fits in perfectly. Brown will be a Chris Johnson this year maybe, and he will earn the starting role in the middle of the year
This guy is going to be perfect for our colts guys. Welcome to Indy Donald. You'd look amazing in Blue and White.!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE 3 HEADED MONSTER IN OUR RUN GAME!!!!!!!!!
I got him in with my first pick in my Dynasty League rookie draft. Nice to get a kid in a dynasty league who you don't have to worry about showing up on a police blotter every weekend.... like say ::::cough::: anyone ever drafted by the Bengels :::cough::::: Go Donald!
That boy's got speed, and is very explosive. And the way he makes people miss tackles is just amazing. I think he'll fit in JUST fine with the Colts. I love Addai, but he better watch his back (pun intended) this year.
I watched both brown and knowshon from pop warner through high school and collage knowshon always was ithe one in the spot light while donnie stood back and stayed quite never to boost about him self brown was a stronger RB from day 1 knoeshon is going to be a nother T.O OR PLAXCO he always had that gangsta att
he would be great if our offensive line could run block even a little bit. i hated when we tried to run at all last year. joseph and dominic got stuffed every single time! but they are all dominant pass blockers they just need to run block better!
Uconn didn't have a QB last year. Everyone expected the run and stuffed the box and he still led the nation in rushing. He might just turn out alright.
true that but college and the nfl are two very different things. nfl is the big boys but if donald brown keeps doin what he does then us colts are gonna be aightt
Remember at the beginning of last season though? Manning barely had 2 seconds to throw the ball. Thats one of the major reasons for our horrible start. We do need to get the run blocking back up to par, but we need to make sure Manning has plenty of time to work the CBs into making the mistake and freeing up Gonzo, Wayne or Clark. Now, with Addai healthy and Brown in the backfield, I think its time we had a pair of 1000 yard rushers in the books by the end of the season.
Ive been wanting another running back in indy the past 2 years. I have never been impressed with addai and am glad we brought in Brown. I was originally hoping for Knowshon but Brown is going to be the right guy for the job. LETS GO COLTS
for real..big trouble for addai. If the colts had complete faith in addai they would have drafted a DT in the first. I wanted Hood from Mizzou but they passed. I think that brown could be an exciting player but if addai is healthy, he's the man.
I agree, white and blue jersey. I'm guessing he'll get his superbowl ring as a rookie like mr. addai. once the guy starts training for nfl he's going to be bigger and faster.
Well Brown ran 4.51 and Moreno ran 4.62 at the combine. Moreno ran a 4.6 at his pro day and Brown decided to sit on his combine time. It's obviously not the best "football speed" measure, but running the same day in the same conditions, Brown has run faster
With Thomas Jones not showing up to camp, I really want the Jets to trade down with someone who wants Freeman and take this guy. Then we can trade TJ and a 3rd to the Cards for Boldin, which there's a lot of talk about that trade exactly. Then resign Leon long term. Brown will be special in the NFL, this guy has unbelievable vision, and game speed.
He will be a 1st round pick though, so all you people wanting him in the 2nd, it most likely won't happen.
donald brown might not be the fastest or the biggest. but in the nfl it isnt just about speed. the ability to make defenders miss and find the hole is just as if not more important. for example reggie bush and marion barber. haha there is no comparison barber is the better running back and reggie bush is the one with the 4.33 speed. my point is that donald will be a great running back not a burner but productive.
Did you see that boy's extra gear at 2:27?! Ouch! I'm tired of hearing the knock on all these players without 'breakaway/open field speed' like Brown and Crabtree. They can play ball, enough said. Great pickup for any team
our team eagles will end up pickin him up in the 2nd round unless they pick up chris wells or knowshown moreno in the 1st round or pick up leasean mccoy in the 2nd round. these our my favroute runningbacks in the draft including donald brown
id like to see the Eagles get Knowshon, but if he's gone already, they might have to get Brown at 21, because the Colts might be tempted to pick up Brown at 27
I was going to say the same thing. He would be a great back up for BWest. Also this kid is very smart and carries himself pretty well just like Bwest just incase a contract issue appears. Bwest took his contract dispute in a intelligent manner to get the deal done unlike other players on our time. So I can see a future in him if we don't get Knowshon.
donald brown is a carbon copy of matt forte with regards to college production... the only reason this guy isnt the #1 rated rb is cuz their schedule was weak, just like forte at tulane, and lack of a pro-style offense at uconn
Great comparison. I've been comparing him to Forte for awhile, they're similar runners. I do think Brown will be a better runner than Forte though, and that's saying something, cause forte had a damn good rookie season.
He reminds me of Emmitt Smith. Not huge, not a blazer, but great vision and instincts. He's quite a bit faster than Knowshon Moreno, and they came from the same High School system. its just that Moreno played for Georgia, so everyone has seen him.
oh my god, he looks just like Derrick Ward except much, much better feet, why isn't he the #1 rated running back? those are all-Pro linebackers Clint Sintim that this guy is schooling out there so its not like theres a lack of competition
he will be picked in the 1st round for sure. remember chris johnson anyone? he was supposed to be a 2nd-3rd round pick, but tennessee took him in the 1st. i expect either philly, new york giants, or az to take him.

He looks good, doesn't dance around he just hits the hole hard, great vision...I like him alot more then Shonn Greene, very instinctive back who will move the chains at the next level.
'he's not big or blazing fast but can play!' sorry, i don't like cliches. the reason why he's good is that he places his feet wide when running and makes small changes in direction while running that screw up the defender's pursuit angles. so a defender will think he has an angle on brown, and he'll change his direction just a lil while running w/o slowing down and the defender is grasping at air. he's agile, but not in the sense that he makes sharp, barry sanders-like cut
Yeah!, he already has 1000+ rushing yards after 5 games! you're lucky to get 1000 in your whole season in the NFL and college! D-Brown for Heismen and UCONN for the Big East!!!!
went to this game also...only problem is UConn needs to work on special teams we cant give up good field position up like that. Its going to come back and bite us in the ass with teams as good or better than us.
I know he'll never see this comment but im gonna post it anyways because im half asleep XD, from everyone in my family(all huskies fans) we miss that number 34 squirming out of the backfield. Anyways, good luck in the NFL, you got "The Admiral" at quarterback, you'll do great.

went to this game also...only problem is UConn needs to work on special teams we cant give up good field position up like that. Its going to come back and bite us in the ass with teams as good or better than us.
