I learned ASL throughout high school and my deaf friends showed me some signs that were different than these and a variation on the sign for 'shit'.
Signs can vary be region in the US/Canada, much like spoken accents so even if the signs aren't correct to you, they may be where he is from. Just something to keep in mind. :-)

Just like hearing people use different terms for things, so does the Deaf Community. People from different states speak differently, hence: accents. There are different signs for ALL KINDS OF THINGS across the United States and Canada. On top of this, there are many different signing systems, not just ASL. ALL of the signs shown here are correct, you cant be wrong with these kinds of things... Does anyone ever tell you that your slang/curse words are wrong just because they are different?

These may be regional signs to some extent, but some of them like dick and penis are not true ASL. This is called SEE and is not really considered part of actual ASL.
This is according to a professor of mine who is deaf, went to Gallaudet, was a board member of the State Commission of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, has taught ASL for 27 years, has studied the history of ASL extensively, and has traveled all over the country learning regional signs.

The middle finger is NOT Sign Language...it might be sign language for hearing people I guess...and it's kind of universal...but the actual SIGNED cuss for fuck is different.

I agree. I used to be ASL instructor at community college for several years. I remind my signing classes from time to time when they see some deaf signing some signs that may be different from what they learned in class, don't assume the signing is wrong. If you spend more time with those who sign a bit different from what you learn, do learn from them and use them. I still learn new signs from meeting new deaf people or traveling to different states.
@spykexboi er Here's the deal with those signs... you are both signing condensed forms of those... In the video you have the word for "ass" and the finger in a circular motion around the O handshape means "hole" so if you combine the two you have the full phrase "ass-hole." Doing one or the other is an abbreviated form. For the F word, you use the two k's for the explitive; but not necessarily in the context of "F-you." Hope that helps. The way you described the sign you use for "fuck" is in the literal sense, as in people fucking. The way this video describes it is "fuck you," so you're still right. I've seen "asshole" signed the way you described it too.
An insight of ASL is that we are all from different states, so where this guy is from he may sign something different compared from where we are from. i am from tucson az and the F word where i am is clashing 2 k's together, so dont assume your wrong you just need to figure out what sign it is or means where your from

ASL differs from English Sign Language and what you did was English Sign Language and there are multiple ways of signing "fuck" and "shit". Involve yourself in the deaf community and maybe u can learn them

It's disrespectful because people who don't know ASL or know anything about Deaf culture approach Deaf people and tell them "I know sign language" and then proceed to show them all of the dirty signs they know. How would you feel if someone from another country approached you, said "I know English" and then proceeded to cuss at you? You would feel disrespected and insulted.

I'm an ASL student in ASL 2. I've learned 3 ways of saying "Fuck" so far:
1. "Fuck you" - This can be the middle finger.
2. "I wanna fuck" - Two "K" handshapes together
3. "Fuck!" - This is a Loan sign, looks like quickly fingerspelled "FK"
I THINK for what you want to say, you'd want to sign "not give FK"
BUT I'm a hearing ASL student. For something like slang you may want to go straight to the source (ask a Deaf friend or teacher.)

Just like hearing people use different terms for things, so does the Deaf Community. People from different states speak differently, hence: accents. There are different signs for ALL KINDS OF THINGS across the United States and Canada. On top of this, there are many different signing systems, not just ASL. ALL of the signs shown here are correct, you cant be wrong with these kinds of things... Does anyone ever tell you that your slang/curse words are wrong just because they are different?

These may be regional signs to some extent, but some of them like dick and penis are not true ASL. This is called SEE and is not really considered part of actual ASL.
This is according to a professor of mine who is deaf, went to Gallaudet, was a board member of the State Commission of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, has taught ASL for 27 years, has studied the history of ASL extensively, and has traveled all over the country learning regional signs.
You should research these signs more.

since all the comments i read were negative, i'd like to comment a positive one. i am in ASL2 and an ASL Lab and everything you showed was correct. my ASL Lab teacher is deaf and he actually showed us about half of these and the other half i found in my ASL Signs dictionary. people need to just grow up and get over the fact that there is more than one way to do pretty much everything in life. and for those that know ASL, know that one word can have multiple signs. i liked it! thanks for sharing!

there are different signs for the same concept all over the place. Like dialects of spoken languages.
I can't think of a single language that doesnt have different ways to say the same thing, and ASL isn't any different.

Um...the sign I've always used for a**hole and the eff word are totally wrong according to this guy. Where am I learning ASL wrong?
A**hole I've always made by twirling a finger inside a tunnel made in my left hand and the eff word I've always done by clashing two "K" signs together.
Am I nuts? I'm not deaf, so it would make sense that I have no idea what I'm doing.

I agree. I used to be ASL instructor at community college for several years. I remind my signing classes from time to time when they see some deaf signing some signs that may be different from what they learned in class, don't assume the signing is wrong. If you spend more time with those who sign a bit different from what you learn, do learn from them and use them. I still learn new signs from meeting new deaf people or traveling to different states.

@spykexboi er Here's the deal with those signs... you are both signing condensed forms of those... In the video you have the word for "ass" and the finger in a circular motion around the O handshape means "hole" so if you combine the two you have the full phrase "ass-hole." Doing one or the other is an abbreviated form. For the F word, you use the two k's for the explitive; but not necessarily in the context of "F-you." Hope that helps. (-Signing for 15 years, ASL, SEE and Pidgin)

The way you described the sign you use for "fuck" is in the literal sense, as in people fucking. The way this video describes it is "fuck you," so you're still right. I've seen "asshole" signed the way you described it too.

An insight of ASL is that we are all from different states, so where this guy is from he may sign something different compared from where we are from. i am from tucson az and the F word where i am is clashing 2 k's together, so dont assume your wrong you just need to figure out what sign it is or means where your from

Its just different dialects, like my mom is a interpreter, and is fluent, and i'm just beginging to learn so when we talk to each other she's using the pacific northwest dialects, and I'm using various dilects, so I guess I'dd be more wrong than her, but still... and @ jfullbright, I learned ahole like the letter F but you flick the three fingers out, lik the circled fingers represent the anus itself... just saying... but I like this version better.
