there's a big chunk missing out of the aliens bit where graham reads a few of the accounts. seen it last year on here now it's gone off youtube and been cut out of thhis video :( was so funny too!
I know CA is making a joke but hot water bottles are actually amazing now! Or at least those hot water bottle alternatives which have some special non-water filling and you just microwave them. =]
It probably is intentional, but that doesn't mean that she's not "being herself". If you can speak the language/dialect of the people you're interacting with as well as one or more foreign ones, there's no reason to use the latter unless you want to make a point of being a stranger.
@thirtysixlegions i'm with you on that. there's a chance i will move to a different country soon so i will probably get the chance to see if gillian is being a pricey piece of paper.
Okay, I like her, but it's annoying that she and David (in other interviews) trash the X-Files and make snide comments about how all the fans are crazy/uncultured. I like The X-Files *and* theater *and* classic literature. But thanks for putting us all in a box, guys. We're all twitchy, paranoid idiots. /endrant.
@thirtysixlegions I do that too, I was born in the uk, moved to new zealand as a child, then moved back to uk in my late teens. My siblings do it as well. Its easy to slip back into either accent quickly without realising it. We've discussed that it's weird, and think that it mostly just comes down to wanting people to understand what you're saying. You could argue that there's something about national identity and the need to relate to other people, but it's a fairly benign habit either way.
@sbwpolo14 10% of Americans would be the same amount as 50% of the population of the Uk. So about twice as many Americans doubt the moon landing than British people.
@thirtysixlegions Actually I can relate to her situation, being born in Texas and spending many years of my life growing up in France, I do notice that I involuntarily speak differently depending not only where I am but who I'm speaking to. Speaking to people with the thick drawl I often notice the drawl coming out in my own speech pattern, but speaking to people without you wouldn't hear the drawl at all.
@thirtysixlegions John Barrowman does it all the time. Both of them are born and raised in London and Scottland, respectively, but moved to the US when they were about 8 or 9. They put their American accents on in America. British/Scottish to British audiences. Though, John only puts on his Scottish when he's around family.
isnt she american ? every interview i have seen her in is in an american accent

The more I see Gillian, the more I love her. Her hyper-sexy British accent makes me shiver.

Bleakhouse was soooooo amazing, and one of her best performances. He so should have plugged it better.

i've never heard chris addison not speaking in his "mr. blood" accent before

@thirtysixlegions
why, because it goes beyond your national IQ?

9:03 Chris Addison has it mixed up a bit. 10% of Americans don't believe the moon landing occured, and 28% or 25% of limeys don't.
Not an accusation or a dismissal. It's just sad that people can so readily doubt an epic accomplishment.

Unfortunately she got no personality. She's nice, but no persona of her own.
Same with Zooey Deschanel, good looks, no person. Probably a psychological defense mechanism.

@subadubable
she definitely has a very strong personality. it's just sort of overshadowed here by the comdeian
