Lmao, the ending was absolutely hilarious, but that's happened to me many times too. If you guys both lose all your lives on the same level, it's a GAME OVER and since the game only saves once you beat every castle, if you get a game over you're sent back the last castle you beat.
That's what happened to you guys.
