Indeed. The reason that elastico was so successful and better than Ronaldinho's was because his first motion was longer than Ronaldinho's elasticos so it makes it look as if he is genuinely going that way. Ronaldinho does it too quickly and the defender doesn't actually go that way. That is why Drenthe was so successful there.
