  • @noodleprincess1 @rigby333 I loved seeing JGB... saw them a ton of times over the years. Truth be told, though, I have to think that Phil was right: John Kahn was a BAD influence on Jerry and can be held partially responsible (as much as one being can be responsible for the issues of another) for Jerry's problems with smack. God rest both of their souls. BTW, I'm a Kahn fan and learned a lot of my licks from listening to him. I'm just trying to be realistic about what happened, historically.

  • I LOVE ROSEBUD!!!

  • (((Jerry)))

  • Fuuuuccckkkk Yeeeeaaaaa!!!!

  • I just love this version of this song.

  • i was the guy at this show that let the recorder guy get a good spot for this shoot i dont look the same are even ack the same i work a lot an when i get the chance to see this its relaxing makes my work months go by faster thanx for the post an please pass it on so we can relaxe thanx a bunch

  • Jerry Garcia will take you there

  • Experiencing Jerry play with the JGB was always pure joy ~ The baggage of the GD wasn't present, it was just Jerry doing what he loved to do, groovin' with some of the best musicians in the galaxy...So playful and bouncy...always brings a smile to my face. Thanks for the amazing selection! Peace...

  • @noodleprincess1 i don't know enough about the JGB or the GD, but I definitely agree that I prefer the JGB. This has always seemed strange to me, but maybe you just gave the answer

  • No matter how hard I fight it

  • love it!

  • i was there many many times ..

    jgb . love it !

  • I say sweet..

  • To this day I miss you! My dance steps are just a lil different without your notes for me to step upon! Miss you Jerry

  • This mans genius is infinite in nature with unprecedented insight....we are so lucky to have him here in this lifetime.

  • Happy birthday Jerry!!

  • Happy 69th Birthday Jerry. Miss you.

  • why is this so much better than what he was doing at his day job at the same time?

  • He looks like shit but sounds like gold.Like a legend should in their later years!

  • dedicate your life to someone you never met, no matter how hard fight it, Poppy im still in love with you! T minus 3 days and counting! miss u old man... great audio listen up!!!!

  • I've heard by the 90's Jerry just couldn't do it any more. This is proof that is bullshit.

  • @thegunnydog Agreed!!!

  • How could anyone not like a completely original random jam session? That's why you go to the live concert. Not everyone wants to hear the studio cut repetition.

  • i would say this tour was very good for late garcia ,his energy was killer !I heard it was because he found a new love in his life, not sure if it was true .obviously 1995 was pretty bad but it was near the end and the dead scene was getting pretty bad wich was saddening to me.love u jerry miss you!

  • I just with I could have seen the fat man rock live, my uncle always tells me if he knew i was gonna be a phish/deadhead he would have taken me to shows when i was 5 years old , im glad i can watch this though

  • I totally didn't expect this to blow my mind

  • they should play this song on the radio, right Katherine Anderson?

  • truly a guiter wizard

  • Overall, this is my favorite video on Youtube. Miss you Jerry.

  • Oh my God,I was at this show! Everybody was flying so high. love you Jerry,

  • ...a hint of BB in there?

  • this was my first warfield show....so nice to see it posted

  • he smoked and sniffed it

  • JGB Toonz : No one can have just one!

    (like Lays!)

  • Respect the man, love the man, the man knew his stuff, anything bad said about Jerry is pure jelousy, envy, etc.

The man played unique music style, no one else like Jerry!

  • So this is what a fat, dying, drug-addled old hippie can "toss-off" ( thanks fiddlefart 5 comments down)...

Totally un-be-fuckin-lievable work, Jerry old son. Catch ya later :)

  • Why did he have to die... so much soul to this man, wish I could have experienced it

  • Saturday i saw a cloud that looked like Jerry Garcia, That's what love will make God Do. Rock on Grateful Dead

  • Stellar performance!

  • Comment removed

  • ROSEBUD!!!!

  • Jerry being Jerry sure, but he doesn't seem well - great solos but they seem toss-offs at the same time - he's just not healthy...

  • awesome Garcia

  • talk about a power trio

  • I feel lucky cause I'm viewer 77,777 of this awesome video. But we are all so lucky to have had this man in our lives. I got a Jerry outfit, brown cords, black t-shirt and raybans, if only i could play guitar.

  • SMOKING PERFORMANCE!

  • The long guitar solo after he added the effect is the most perfect guitar solo I've ever seen or heard.

  • GREAT book by the way !

  • In reading the Steve Parish book (Jerrys roadie and JGB tour manager) He said the only times Jerry got "Cash" in his hands was on JGB tours (He got paid in cash) the dead tours all the money went through the front office first.

  • The rare times Jerry got "cash" in his hands was for JGB shows (He never got "cash" for Dead shows) ........ he looked forward to partying after the JGB shows

  • @ToolShedDaddy huh? can you explain that more

  • Ahhhh the familiar sound of Jerry ripping it up for it hits a nerve in my soul. I can hardly believe it has been 15 years since he left us on this plane. I still miss him dearly and not a day goes by without thinking about him. R. I. P. Jerry!!!

  • Man dead.

  • That's a solo, he cooks it fine.

  • One of the Great Songs from Jerry Garcia, Tribute Tour, Furthur, you can do it with John singing Jerry, The World Needs It.

  • HAPPY BDAY PAPA BEAR LOVIN ND MISSIN U

  • God Melvin is my idol. Dude complimented Jerry the best of any keys player aside from Brent IMO. Brent and Jerry were pure Majik together. Without a Net is insane.

  • @LachozaTube This is Magic not Majik. Not getting down on your spelling but as a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan there is only one "Majik Man" and that is Don Majkowski. I have room in my heart to love everybody in the world but I feel Majik should be reserved for Mr. Majkowksi. GB QB from 1987-1992 often injured but very gifted. He never did return to his glory after the surgery as was the case with many players of that era and before.

  • @vpaczkowski

you really decided that this was the forum to spew about football.......you need to listen more and write less....

  • There are a lot of Dead Heads where I live... They are mostly Junkies... I do Love the music.. But I see all these kids who look up to Jerry.. Junkies Do NOT make good role models.. Kids 13 and older shooting up.. With Jerry as their role model.. To all DeadHeads please acknowledge Jerry as a whole, and real person, faults and all.. You are helping to make more teenage Junkies; when you Glorify him so..

  • @younwhosarmy , Oh Bullshit! What neighborhood do you live in,the twilight zone! You make it seem like most deadheads are junkies! That's just not true! First of all, Jerry did not shoot up heroin, he smoked it (persian white) ! No big difference, he was a junkie nontheless! He was hooked and fought with this terrible addiction. He died fighting it! I see where you're coming from, and know that you mean well, but you must realize that jerry is NOT the poster boy for young junkies!Read about him!

  • How old is Jerry here? He looks like he is in his 60s. I think he's in his early 50's. He rips up that solo like he's in his 20's though!!

  • now for a blast straight to the heart of all good hippies PAPA JER BEAR LOVE YA YOU SHINING ANGEL LOVE JERRY!!!

  • wow i was there at a show warfeild same song jus blew me away i was hung over from drinkeing to to much the night before walk out of there as hi as a kite an i dont smoke at all...

  • he`s never lost when he`s playin` doesn`t matter what kind of music.

There is no guitarist out there like him. RIP Jerry, miss you!

  • Jerry on Fire! Yowzers! Some of the best guitar work I've ever heard from this brilliant man. Thank You Jerry!

  • The Fat Man ROCKS... Jerry is Immortal. .... I've yet to hear a guitar player who could even compare to his JAMMING Abilities... Big Jesse... Peace

  • @pistolsandposies Give me a FAT break

  • I love the fact that the other soloists are so in Fan-dom they need a few seconds to begin their part because they are so enthralled in Jerry's guitar.

  • TOO bad jerry died santa claus is retiring.

  • "Don't wanna think too much about you and give others ideas......try hard to express myself cause baby that's the way I feel.......!!!!! "

  • Jeez that guy blows me away- I have never heard him repeat a phrase- most guitarists have a bag of favorite runs but not JG. It's like he is looking at the guitar as a vast fractal landscape and never sees the same thing twice. Couple that with his sense of melody and you have the best ever!!

  • @mziegler1485 What? You Play?..Well, you too can play, if you give up on everything important to you now, and live off friends and family for ever......

  • that's what love will make you do.

  • sounds nice and full with just the trio

  • I can honestly say those were some of the best times.

  • This is one of the very best Jer vids on YouTube: thanks. Amazing and stunning and inspirational. Perfect playing.

  • jerry is god

  • band im in covered this the other night, went down so good, love the way legion did it

  • fuck yeah!!!!!!!!!!

  • i thought garcia was finished in 93....

  • I went to many Dead shows from the 70's through the 90's, and loved every one of them. Sometime the band was on, and sometimes not, but it was always a good time. For me, seeing the JGB was special. A smaller, lower-key event, but pure distilled Jerry-ness!

  • Amazing ! I was an Usher at the Warfield for many years and saw almost every JGB show there from 89-93. Thanks for sharing :)

  • Garcia/his band...at their best!!...that's the way I will ALWAYS remember them...thanx Jerry!..(and the band!)

  • the rhythm swings so fine here

  • i am going through some serious opiate withdrawl........for the thrid time in my life so far and the last i pray...........i havent slept in days.........watching this has actually made me feel a little better

  • @donveill - D. - I've been there (more times than I want to remember!!)....think - endorphins!!...Jerry's music definitely help!!..good luck man...hope you're thru and over it by now...Gods Bless!

  • hope you made it through

  • Just awsome!!! God I miss the Kahn/Gracia Band

  • Looks like fun, the reason why I love the JGB is the song selection, and the spin on everyone of them

  • jerry crist=mas

  • jerry & melvin= music to my ears

  • classic!! :)

  • this guitar solo is brliiant

    unbelievable....

    jerry is flying !!!

  • Top flight world class solo But didja no that the aztecs invented the vacation?????That the Beeatle's "eight days a week" title comes from the old original versions lyrics to this song???? Fact or Fiction...u decide.

  • Rosebud...

  • where can you get torrents of JGB shows?

  • flipperty jip and a bippity bop...rip jerr !!

  • saw Jerry perform this song at MOJOs in Arcata (Humboldt County) in March 1982. He rocked it then as well...

  • Comment removed

  • IM BURN IT right now

  • Jerry at a Bonfire in the yard would be cool....what a gentle soul.....as long as were wishing give me the Lottery too....:>)...Peace

  • haha this is fun

  • What it's all about.

    Shake it all in inside...........

    oh baby

  • I spent many many many hours in my teens dancing at Jerry's feet in Winterland, always got right up front and always danced the whole time..some of the best memories of my life!...nobody gives ya the boogiechills like Jerry!

  • boogie chills!! all ova

  • If Jerry were here I buy him a beer

    thanks Jer!!!

  • no offense. the man was on a hard path. played great guitar but couldn't breathe. ouch. alex in new orleans a lifelong fan.

  • Jerry will never die=)

  • I wish I could do ANYTHING that well...

  • where's the beard?

  • Very trimmed.

  • this video made my day :)

  • Im young and never saw Jerome G. nor the GD. Ive been told seeing the dead was like going to school and seeing jerry band was going to church....

  • did you read that in an album jacket?

  • no a friend said that to me when i was much younger getting into the dead

  • Its all about Spirt son....

  • @ phunkengruuven

Well, both were good (though the JGB only seemed to have two nights worth of material before they'd have to start repeating)

Look at the bright side, you're young!! :D

  • Cheers!

  • Mmm I like it :) i think he plays some time with Jimi Hendris in garage :D:D

  • im still in love with you

  • God we miss you Jerry!!! RIP!

  • god that guy could develop a solo... he said thought of his solos not in sentences but in paragraphs... he had soooo much to say. mesmerizing!

  • @CptMystery Great quote I have never heard !!!!!

  • JERRY !!!!!! Thats what Love Will Make You Do !!!!! Getting Down with the JGB at the Warfield - So Glad that I got to be a part of it - Get some Jerry !!!

  • yaaahhooooooooooo...

  • is that mel

  • showin his love, Go Jerry!

  • thasts what the man had day one grate full he was to show love jus listen

  • get some, jerry! goddamn, i miss him...

  • Clearly Jerry wasn't the best blues player by a long shot, but damn if he doesn't put the most unique spin on an oft times tired genre. And by the way he is by far and away the best emotive guitarist player to ever live. Yes, at times he played sloppier than drunken sex, but no one plays the guitar like Jerry. If you have ADD and cannot listen to the entire 8:33 seconds of this song, fast forward to 3:30 in and listen to Jerry play the blues.

  • hahahha truly the best. he could slam this tune.

  • jerry would give a big hug to LES PAUL the envintor of the guitar

  • les paul is i think the only one close

  • Rosebud sounds sweet...Jerry you're the best cause that is what love will make you do

  • was that the warfeild i was there

  • i agree those pickups rock, hey was this the nov msg show?

  • rockin!!!!!

  • Geez those custom made Irwin guitars have such great tones....

  • This whole show is sick - Jerry is ON FIRE!

  • He LOVED the Warfield...he was more comfortable being close so he could control how loaded he got

He knew the hard-core fans were at THE WARFIELD, so he really put out!

  • not a day goes by that I dont listen to this song. Seals + Garcia = fire.

  • awesome performance jerry was on his playing aged like fine wine 5stars

  • So good... wait for Jerry to go into "the hunch" at 3:30 in.

  • 4-23-08 was the Warfield not the Orpheum. I was 17 and had my first jerry experience with my folks the next night.

  • Good catch. 4/23/93 was the Warfield. The vid, setlist and my ticket say so too. Guess I was thinking about good times from the Orpheum shows in late 80s when posting. :)

  • ya man was like i said 17 or 15 feet away from that guitar an mel was just to the left hungover when i went in an hi when i went out an idont smoke @smoke jerry hiiii o ya jerry an melvin hiiiiiiiiiiiii,,,,,, hahahahhahahahaha

  • I've been so lucky to have seen JGB and the Dead many times when he was alive. There will never be anybody like Jerry - he just had a way of making magic at will. The world hasn't been the same since his demise.

  • nice observation. didnt think about them!

  • melt my face Jerry!

  • was JGB a three piece?

  • john kane on the bass ladies and gents

  • john kahn that is

  • that was the awesomest thing I have ever seen.

  • how many children did he have? Wasn't he with Mountain Girl for awhile?

  • noodlin'

  • Bolt had the best tone out of any of his guitars

  • jerry..jerry..jerry..at his best ..how i miss watching jerry make his guitar sing..what love and soul our chubbyfreind had 4 music..well missed and loved..Thank you jerry 4 your respect and influince you left behind...oh how many bands we have today that was inspired because of the love jerry had for music...funny how alot of people don't understand that simplicity..beleive it..you can see at the reatdog shows with bobbys fanbase..not knocking bobby fans.
