  • Gnarls Barcley samples this song in Storm Coming

  • just heard this guy right now for the first time. amazing.

  • @ ourpeoples - Then look into it...this particular sound is definitely, majorly tinged with all the hallmarks of Fela's Afrobeat, not highlife!

When countless international artists, pay tribute to his style of music, it swiftly becomes apparent, that his influence stretches far and wide.

Besides, my initial comments express no hate, but there's nothing wrong in pointing out simple facts.

Check out any of Fela's earlier tracks, like Chop and Quench or Lady, from the late 60's to the Mid 70's.

  • @bendelite You must not understand Highlife nor Afrobeat too well, no disrespect intended. Highlife is more of a consciousness or state of mind than it is a genre. But all labelling aside, I agree with you on the reach of Fela's influence. My question to you is: who/what influenced his style or doctrine? Fela's Afrobeat is a confluence of ideas, passions and causes many of which were incubated during his study in Ghana. Read this: wikipedia's piece on Fela

    Sway is not fact

  • Not to take anything away from this jam, but the similarities with any of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's songs, just can't be ignored...that being said, it's still a nice number!

  • @bendelite Really? Which song? This is totally worth looking into. I hope you're not playing hater though . . .

  • when u listen to the lyrics you can feel the heartbreak. the sweetest heartbreak song ever.

  • GHANA 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • anyone knows the meaning of the lyrics?

  • This is the definition of great music.

  • Greatings from Paris!

Best of the best, I love this music.

I' m looking for a ghanaian church song, by Lydia and Joe : "i am glad"...

Where can I get it ?

  • simply awesome.

gnarls barkley sampled it for 'storm coming'

  • When I listen to this, I wanna jump, shout, pump my fist, make love, kiss the sun, laugh out laud, etc.. This music makes me high on life. Thank you for sharing!.

  • GHANAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!

  • this is old school highlife from Ghana inthe west africa! He among with others like the african brothers band, ebo taylor, dr. gyasi, c.k. mann. s.k. oppong with many others were the pioneers of HIGHLIFE in GHANA and in west africa

  • Real pleasure to discover it !

Is it possible to let me know what "style" or " music category" that artist does ?
