This tune should be used in physical therapy; no matter how lifeless, some body part of yours will be tapping . . . I hope you tap with you right body part though, lol. Muy classique!
i kindly apologize 4 the one person who pressed the dislike button. they meant to press the like button but where so "engrooved" into the sick ass beat that they hit the wrong button.
@bendelite You must not understand Highlife nor Afrobeat too well, no disrespect intended. Highlife is more of a consciousness or state of mind than it is a genre. But all labelling aside, I agree with you on the reach of Fela's influence. My question to you is: who/what influenced his style or doctrine? Fela's Afrobeat is a confluence of ideas, passions and causes many of which were incubated during his study in Ghana. Read this: wikipedia's piece on Fela

Not to take anything away from this jam, but the similarities with any of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's songs, just can't be ignored...that being said, it's still a nice number!
When I listen to this, I wanna jump, shout, pump my fist, make love, kiss the sun, laugh out laud, etc.. This music makes me high on life. Thank you for sharing!.
this is old school highlife from Ghana inthe west africa! He among with others like the african brothers band, ebo taylor, dr. gyasi, c.k. mann. s.k. oppong with many others were the pioneers of HIGHLIFE in GHANA and in west africa
Nobody seems to know where the ramblers international dance band are. Why???? I'm challenging my beloved ghanians to find them and place them on youtube.
This is the link. If you can't access it do a search for "Classic High life 2" on youtube. I think this is the song - I have one of their albums but I am currently away from home, when I managed to get hold of it I will find out how to upload it if possible.
this song is not ramblers international, but you might like it. I have told Groovemonzter about Ramblers international. You should subscribe to him because he might post some, he is not african but he really likes high life and does his best to post music
This is true blackness. Aww, brings lot of memories. Music made with local materials, pure and raw talent is the lifeblood of African music. Oh, I'm touched.
WOW what a stunner thank you I don't come across this ever... off the cassette no less. Can you tell me who any of the players were? wow its a hell of a tune! Thank you I'll check the rest of your stuff. peace

@ ourpeoples - Then look into it...this particular sound is definitely, majorly tinged with all the hallmarks of Fela's Afrobeat, not highlife!
When countless international artists, pay tribute to his style of music, it swiftly becomes apparent, that his influence stretches far and wide.
Besides, my initial comments express no hate, but there's nothing wrong in pointing out simple facts.
Check out any of Fela's earlier tracks, like Chop and Quench or Lady, from the late 60's to the Mid 70's.
