Hi Titli, I think my apple chutneys come out a bit too sour perhaps. I used Red Wine Vinegar, could that be the problem? Any quick fixes I can use? :) Its a gift to my girlfriends dad , and just one part of a whole ensemble of recipes of yours that Im using this Christmas! :) Cheers
i don't think i've ever tried a chutney before, the thought of brown sugar + fruit + ONIONS baffles me =S so is it like a jam that you can eat alone or like a spread (you said to eat it with cheese and meat, but i'm still worried) XD i might try it with less quantities just to try it out *_* thank you for this!
@lylgabby99 It's what I've shown you. A combination of fruit, onions (usually) and spices to make something that is good with cheese, cold meats, burgers...
@TitliNihaan Thx... i m from karachi.. PK.. if u want sumthg from here.. ill glat to send u .. i visited to ur website.. soon ill b ur member... :p i tired ur raslmai ... it was great... and i m going to try ur chicken handi n also planing to go bhori bazar for the same handi u have :)
@TitliNihaan yes i saw ur chicken handi recipe in which u said that u bought it from bhori baza... and i m very glad glade that u reply me.. Allah hafiz Fe aman Allah :)
@TitliNihaan Never mind, I retract that. They look like fuji apples, but there are several apples that also look like that. Apparently, there are 7000 kinds of apples
And here's a tip for you, from Viz magazine of all places. If you want some jars to pot up your chutney, don't waste your money buying brand new jars. Just go to Morrisons, buy a load of their value curry sauce at 9p / jar and simply tip the rancid muck down the toilet, wash the jars et voila!
many small pots are better... if using bigger pots and if it happens that dirty spoon get in there by mistake, then it might reduce its shelf-life....

kafcin 2 months ago
@kafcin Apple chutney should be a good balance between sweet and sour. I use vinegar which is 8% acetic acid...
TitliNihaan 2 months ago
@TitliNihaan I see, in that case could I use a whole lot of sugar in an attempt to balance it out? Thanks for replying! :)
kafcin 2 months ago
@kafcin Might be a bit sweet :-/

@renoa0heartilly It's also known as a pickle or a relish. Cheese and Pickle (or Cheese and Chutney if you prefer) are classic British sandwiches!

No, seriously can I? Because I only like them uncooked and on their own. Or maybe there is something I can substitute them with?
oLynxXo 3 months ago
@oLynxXo I guess you could leave them out. Try adding some other dried fruit like chopped apricots!
