  • After Dark - Haruki Murakami :D

  • 1:58-2:13 is reminiscent of Oliver Nelson's solo on "Stollen Moments" recorded in 1961.

  • @v1p11 Indeed it is.

  • Haruki Murakami <3

  • What happened to Haruki Murakami??

    ...Otaku3

  • I want to make clear that the Benny Golson/Art Farmer Jazztet first “recorded” in 1960; the Jazztet (sextet) itself was formed in 1959. Meet The Jazztet (Argo LP 664) - the sextet's first album - was recorded at Nola's Penthouse Sound Studios, in New York, on February 6, 9, and 10, 1960. It was pianist McCoy Tyner’s second album, after having recorded first on a Curtis Fuller Savoy album (Imagination) on 17 DEC 1959. :I:

  • Musicians, leader, and album (Savoy MG 12141) are correct. Recorded in the Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey, though, on 21 MAY 1959 - not 1958. There's a fine alternate take of this (5 Spot After Dark), too. The group would later (1960) change somewhat, add Art Farmer, and become the quintessential Golson/Farmer Jazztet. :I:

  • Thank you for indicating the data of this session, Finkanslig-san!!

I corrected the mistakes of recorded year.

  • the trombone ought to be used in jazz more. it's not used quite so much now which for me personally is a real shame.

  • I bought the album after hearing this after reading about it in Haruki Murakami's book "After Dark"

  • Haruki Murakami is a writer having a profound knowledge about jazz music.

I am glad for your having bought this album by his book.
