I had my grandfather friend who was from the South Vietnamese Air Force. Their air force isn't exactly professional the USAF does but are still honorable. Their politics restrained the USAF to bomb only approved targest rather than al all out offensive like in WW2 does. Mostly likely, the bombing of North Vietnam from 1965-1968 were mostly like politcal reasons rather than military reasons.
In the end, had the politcians do what the military wants, South Vietnam would stil be here.
