Surely there could be something in the idea of Doc arriving in the present and going on an adventure with Marty's teenage son? Obviously Fox, with medication, could reprise his role for an extended cameo at the beginning and end, maybe including him being invited along, but declining claiming to be busy/too old or whatever, and passing the torch on to his children.

It's a great commercial, and I think it was brilliantly done. Doc did look a bit older, but that's to be expected.

It's true that Doc '55 hasn't time travelled, yet - so he wouldn't know about DirecTV HD. Also, that information would be of no use to Marty in 1985 - since there was no DirecTV HD then, either.

It's still brilliantly done, though - and you can't look too deeply into that. Maybe it's just a dream sequence that Doc had.

The Courthouse block scene has always been in place at the studio lot. All they needed to re-create was that where he makes the actual announcement. All the "Set" really consisted of was a coat, the ladder and the burning bits of wire. The rest like the Delorean, the lightning strike and Doc dancing in the flaming tracks was just footage from the movie edited in. Aside from Lloyd's salary and liscensing fees I imagine it was fairly inexpensive.
