I've seen Tilla Jogian Da where Ranjha went to become a Jogi. It's in Jhelum District of Punjab. The Monastry of the the Jogis Gorakh Nath and Bal Nath still stands but sadly no one looks after it

what religion were both heer and ranjha? I've heard they were punjabi muslims.. can somebody please fill me in about what a punjabi muslim is?

Brother, i would try to solve your puzzle; forgive me if i can't as there is no correct answer for such kind of question....

First of all, Heer & Ranjha were Muslims and their native language was Punjabi. They belong to the land of five rivers. What i see this, is your just view point....

If you see somebody from the mirror of Punjabi, then all the Punjabi's are more like same except religion. for example: customs & values are same.... same kind of behavior on weddings etc....

@warraichg, jhang was part of multan province in the time of heer ranjha, the rest of the areas were part of Lahore province. There was no such thing as Punjab in the time of heer ranjha , the name punjab was first used for these areas quite recently during the time of Mughals who combined Multan and Lahore provinces in collective administration unit with the name of Punjab ( because of the five rivers of this area). There was no punjabi ethnicity in the time of heer ranjha

@gujranwala789 good information warraich sahib.you increased my knowledge.anyway HEER AND RANJHA were not true lovers.they were sinful. and the story was famouse and popular due to Waris Shah poetry in punjabi and in those time there was no newspaper no radio and tv and people need story to pass the time.

yes they were Punjabi and also Mulism ..Muslim as religion and they called punjabi cos they used ti love in Punjab (Pakistan's province ) .but there is no such thing ''punjabi muslim'' i hope it helped ;)
