  • With the silicone, do you let it set up first before hooking it up? Or if you connect it right away, doesn't all the silicone get squeezed out when its tightened down?

  • @seniorwilder - Thanks for your questions - When I use the silicone I instantly install, tighten up the assembly as I would with putty. The difference against putty is that you'll see so many plumbers overusing that putty, which then squeezes out days/weeks/months later which becomes a loose connection. With silicone, especially for high usage areas, this connection seals instantly and isn't susceptible to water. The silicone forms a similar layerlike gasket, then beads to the underneath.

  • I used putty for years but it always ends up deteriorating or leaving loose connections. I find this constantly as a service plumber on new and old installs. The garbage disposals I find in the worst shape, just a simple few years old. If you have any questions please ask!

  • what is the solution in the tube?

  • @CLYVOUS - 100% silicone. I've had very good results over plumbers putty. As you see, the putty breaks down, hardens over time.
