Are there any rabbit hunting regulations I should be aware of in Southern California if I am hunting on BLM land? Do it need a licence to take rabbits with slingshots? Or does anyone care? I don't want to be cited by Fish and Game.
Excuse me, Mr. Trail Boss, do you have a video on the other kind of slingshot? The "old" version, where you swing it around your head? :) I'd love to watch one of those videos. Also, do you have a slingshot you'd recommend? (A cheap one) And finally, are marbles (like those glass ones) good ammunition? Since where I live, it's mainly dirt, and sometimes sand, not really rocks.
Take a deer with a slingshot? While I completely agree that small game can easily be harvested with a slingshot... The claim that someone is taking deer with one is a bit much. I would have to see evidence of that. Larger game need to be either dropped due to instant trauma (which a slingshot would not cause on a large animal) or instant immobilization (which again, this weapon can not cause on larger animals). I hate to call shenanigans, but seriously... how could someone take a deer?
I'm plannning on buying one of these bad boys to go possum hunting. How effective is it? Regarding to accuracy from a distance and difficulty to learn
@littlejay1994 They are not difficult to use or learn if you dedicate a few hours to practice, each day for about a week you will do just fine, with a possum you will have to make a head shot to take them,,
What i like about sling shots is how economic they are. You can get a good sling shot for about 10-15 dallars. Also like you said you don't even have to buy amunition for it. You can just use small rocks. I have 2 sling shots right now. One is a Daisy and the other is a Trumark(witch is my favorite!) I haven't shot in a wile, and i was a little rusty. This video really helped me remember some key pointers. Thanks!
@zippo9211989 i know...i have been looking for over a week now for a single slingshot video that even TOUCHED on how to aim your slingshot, because thats what i was having trouble on, or atleast wasnt sure if i were doing it the correct way.
@60829 There were some murders committed with them in NYC years ago which resulted in outlawing their use in the city, if it did not kill you it would at the very least hurt like hell.
@60829 Not as good as a high quality steel pen. You don't have to write with it so a large fountain pen would work great for personal defense. Look them up on ebay and you will see that they have wicked ends and large barrels for easy handling. A little creative sharpening and you have a scalpel in your pocket.
@Delongis46 I understand. The post I responded to was a question of the best item for personal safety. A sling shot is good for a couple shots, if the attacker is not close. Most attacks on women are close-up, quick, and violent. My daughter carries a sharpened fountain pen clipped into one of her outside pockets so it is easy to access. She has drawn with it once. It saved her from being raped at college and made the perp have to go to the hospital for stitches, where he was arrested.
@kingachybraky I know their are better things out there. For instanse I don't go anywere with out a lock blade pocket knife. I just thought you would like to know that in some places they are used frequently for self defence. Considering most asults are aimed at wemon a sharpened pen sounds like a great idea. God Bless:)
@kingachybraky The first time i ever heard of it was on a tv program about what to do in the case of a air plane highjacking. They suggested carring sharpend pens for defense because airlines ofcorse band the carring of weapons.
when my youngest son was 5 i gave him a slingslot ...30 minutes later he came in the house so proud of his shooting...he shot out all the floodlights on the house..stupidly i thought at five he be lucky to hit the side of the garage..he 7 now and weve been playing with the idea of making a slingbow for deer hunting....

One missing element in your otherwise excellent video: there was no specific mention of eye protection. Isn't there a danger of the rubber breaking and snapping back to the face?
I'm a mom; I can't help but be a little paranoid. We have a standard commercial slingshot. My father-in-law bought it for me years ago to use as a squirrel deterrent. The rubber is old and I am interested in replacing it for my son to use. Your video is good, but there was no definite mention of eye protection.
@MrDanthefisherman1 Thanks for watching that is why parents need to participate in the training of their children to insure they do it properly or up to the standard of the parent .
hi, i make loads of realy powerful catapults, some with trebble theraband gold each side, and i dont beleave my catapults would kill a deer, that first catapult only as around 8mm circular elastic (nothing on theraband gold), do you have any proof that it would take deer, i think its practicly impossible with that catapult, regards john
If you listened to the video, I said I have never done it, but I do believe it can be done, I have deer hunted for many years it does not take a howitzer to kill one. If it were hit in the head with a heavy enough projectile I know it would work. It was in the news here in the states some old lady killed one throwing a rock and hitting it in the head. My friend Madison is one of the most honorable guys I know. He would not lie about it if he says he has killed deer with one, he has done t.
@shilohtv wow i didnt think they were that easy 2 kill, that means my catapults would kill a dear easly as they are the powerfulest available here i the u.k, now i gotta find me a deer lol
You can actually shoot arrows with a slingshot and they go pretty fast. Should be enough to kill big game like deer. There's video on how to do it on "wildernessoutfitters" channel
@1ukjunglednbraver I would only try in in a dire emergency but I believe it can be done, the problem with most people is that we have been away from harvesting our own food for so long that they think killing anything requires a 44 magnum, people die unnecessarily with food all around them. I look at it this way in a emergency if it does not work I am no worse off by trying. Thanks for watching and your comments . Take care my friend
@shilohtv ..yeh in most circumstances my Conscience would win but yeh in a suvival situation i wouldnt waste secound thinking about it...give a 99% of vegatrains a week without food and im sure they would try it aswell...it would take me about 12 hours without food and id be on its like chuck norris
@aquaphone Madison uses heavy poured lead balls and takes head shots with sling shots designed to use heavier ammunition, it is not that tough to kill a deer, or any other animal for that matter if you hit it in the right place it is all about shot placement.
@shilohtv oh yeh i get you there...but you would have to be pretty good you could miss it cranium and take its snout off or smash its jaw off although that would probly knock it out then at least
@Torcika I do not know what to tell you but when you go to sights like Bush Craft UK and places in Europe who sell them they refer to them as hunting catapults, target catapults all you have to do is run the word on line and hundreds of references come up from Europe calling them that so check with your countryman we only going by what they tell us when they write ask questions and send us links to comment on. .
hey, i killed my first squirrel today with my slingshot. i felt bad because it didnt die immediately. i had to run up to it and hit it with a club and shoot it 2 more times. is there anyway to make them die faster? or is this just how slingshot hunting is? do you always have to get headshots? someone please answer my questions, thank you.
@umidontno040394 You can uses a steel ball I used marbles, but keep in mind some animals are hard to kill, you can shoot them and they will not die instantly
A good way of aming is to hold the slingshot on its sie and use one of the prongs (if you can call them that) holding the rubber bands for a sight. It works great but might cover up at long range.
@zachhook59 Absolutely I do not have a problem with any of the major brands. I stay away from the expensive fancy ones because I see no advantage to them. They are hard to pack along, they have a lot of useless devices on them. If you learn to shoot that you can hit just about anything you want to.
@shilohtv alright thanks i was wondering im only 14 but in my famly we go up to a cottage in quebec every summer and i always wanted to do some hunting and i finly got a sling shot so now i can
No but you can check with Madison Parker at Bullet Proof Primitive Supply it will not let me post a link, but you can look him up on your search engine
A ground-dwelling rodent of the squirrel family. They are called groundhogs, woodchucks and marmonts depending on the part of the country you are in .
good hunting ammo for slingshots: take a strip of tin or lead and roll it up, if you hitsomething it will roll out inside the game, something like a hollowpoint bullet
dumb question but i have had trouble of finding good slingshot bands. I have seen many yellow bands and afew red bands but where can i get more powerfull or other color bands? Most hunting stores i have seen only carry slingshots or some extra yellow bands. I know you can get them online but i prefer store bought. So buying would be much more convenient.
It is not dumb but sorry to say we all have the same problem they wear out after a while, you may want to try making your own go to a medical supply and do some tests on some of the different rubber tubing. For me the replacement bands are cheap so I just keep a few with me and replace them ifd they break on me in the field. Hope that helps
Not really, anything is possible give the right circumstance, but it is highly unlikely I have never done it and i got my first slingshot when i was 4 years old, my kids have not done it and they were about the same age so again highly improbable
they are all pretty good i have never been able to break one, Size is the big consideration. Are you wanting it to fold up so you can jam it in a back pocket or does that matter? just get one you are comfortable with and that meets your need for what you want to do.
According to the manufacturer the red is stronger and will last longer, I really can not tell a difference bu the desert is hard on rubber, and plastic
hey shilohtv ,if you want to try my hunter catapult just holler ille send you one free, its the worls strongest production catapult shooting a .44cal lead ball at 210fps.
IMO the wrist brace is a great advantage, it stops you straining your hand keeping the slingshot upright. The lead ammo box I bought with my slingshot has 2 prongs that slide under your belt, so you can have it like a belt pouch. Also can anyone tell me how to get your rubbers to get back on the limbs if they are slipping off?
Your shorts are very distracting .

Your ear is about eye level.
If the slingshot was to break or ricochet.
You would lose an eye. Guaranteed! Unless your using safety eye wear which I

wats a marmot?
hulkstermax 1 year ago
A ground-dwelling rodent of the squirrel family. They are called groundhogs, woodchucks and marmonts depending on the part of the country you are in .

The videos are well done but the music is too loud. Hard to hear the person talking. You might consider leaving out the music or turning it WAY down.

good hunting ammo for slingshots: take a strip of tin or lead and roll it up, if you hitsomething it will roll out inside the game, something like a hollowpoint bullet
keesurt 1 year ago
did u catch any animals that way?
YAHWEHisperfect 1 year ago
Yes squirrels, marmots and rabbits

dumb question but i have had trouble of finding good slingshot bands.

Hope that helps

i heard those wristrockets can launch a marble into someones skull?
W1ndir 1 year ago
@W1ndir They do hit very hard
shilohtv 1 year ago
@shilohtv it doesnt seem realistic to me, you could probably send someone out cold but i don't think it would pierce bone, not a marble or anything
W1ndir 1 year ago
They will kill you but it would have to be the right projectile and you would have to be hit in the right place, but their is no doubt they can kill
shilohtv 1 year ago
you have a very good aim

Hi, I enjoyed this video :) but I was wondering if you could accidentally shoot your hand?
TheWealthyGuardian 1 year ago
Not really, anything is possible give the right circumstance, but it is highly unlikely I have never done it and i got my first slingshot when i was 4 years old, my kids have not done it and they were about the same age so again highly improbable
shilohtv 1 year ago
@shilohtv thanks a lot, now I know that it can't hurt me if i'm careful :)
TheWealthyGuardian 1 year ago
what would u say is good brand of slingshots/wrist rockets?
MasterPacker12 1 year ago
they are all pretty good i have never been able to break one, Size is the big consideration. Are you wanting it to fold up so you can jam it in a back pocket or does that matter? just get one you are comfortable with and that meets your need for what you want to do.
shilohtv 1 year ago
@shilohtv the fold up one would be nice. thanks for help!

what is the difference between the red, and yellow rubbers? i have the red one
TheSlowredchemical 1 year ago
According to the manufacturer the red is stronger and will last longer, I really can not tell a difference bu the desert is hard on rubber, and plastic

YESSEAH 1 year ago
You get them the rubber and the limb wet and they will slide back on, but you have to wait about 12 hours for them to dry or they will slip back off.
