  • Which iPad case/cover is that? If you don't mind me asking…

  • what about some acoustic treatment in your room?

  • @abletenor how about some dicks in your mouth?

  • @ddrmetal Hahaha, yesss

  • Many stupid comments about the ipad from people that actually never used, it is obviously the best to control fully all the tracks. There is no latency, the other pads are good for simpler tracks but with touch osc you could also create a button to make jesus appear in the middle of the track

  • what app are you using for the ipad? and how did that monome cost you?

  • Launching clips on Launchpad, Faders on Ipad, Step Sequencer on Monome, would be perfect.

  • @LucidicProductions faders and knobs on ipad, baaaad idea.. no tactile response..

  • live your music :)

  • If you get a launchpad and make house/techno/electro/dubstep DO NOT buy two. You'll be dealing with loops not little piano rolls.

  • and the name of the fucking app is.....?

  • Santa...

  • seems like you really didnt need 2 launchpads, one can pretty much do what you where doing

  • what were your parents thinking when they named you that?

  • Hi! Where can you get the Monome-Emulator from?

  • Hi, where can you get the Monome-Emulator from?

  • how much for one launchpad ?

  • @Adotinapot 150$ pretty cheap for what it can do

  • very cool but why would you use any of those machines for 16 step seq when they could be replaced with a single program like logic?

  • @Tokkitaco Its all about live interaction. You are limited with a mouse to one click, with all your fingers the fun starts crawlin...

  • beautiful setup

  • you can do 16-step-sequencing with just one single launchpad aswell! just chek out novation stepSeq!

  • nice equip

  • what is that thing in the front of you? can u send me a link to the product?

  • Just a small point, but one i feel worth mentioning. You have a lovely home set up, and I am a little jealous, but the reflections in that room are horrible. Is it not tricky mixing in there?

  • @millomloyal True, it was mentioned several times in here. Will work on my walls... :)

  • the layout you use for the ipad in touchosc, you said you changed the template around? could you foward me that touchosc file?

  • @dimitrigc yes I changed the layout. Its very easy, just use the touchosc editor which is free. My templates would not of much use for you, because there is osculator behind translating, plus the full mapping in ableton.

  • Where did you get the template on the iPad?

  • what a choad

  • @LeisureCentury Based on personal experience? I don't think so. It could do a huge ammount of tasks you can use in audio production. With the current OS it supports midi thru usb and wifi, you can use external soundcards (USB Audio Class 1compatible), Alesis and Akai builded professional docks for use in a professional studio environment. There are phantastic apps out there to control external hardware, act like effect units and sound generators. It's a fast growing platform.

  • hi, what brand/model is that blue and white controller with the 9 sliders below your set up?

  • @keelious its a nanoKontrol by Korg

  • @SDLeeming AKAI LPD8's are amazing, the KORG is less so. But it's better alone as the AKAI requires software to get the gating the korg has right.

  • @TheLynxie Yeah akai is way more durable but NanoKontrol is a good little thing if you don't want to spend alotta money. I tend to be novation guy though haha

Launchpad + nocturn combination is great

  • Where did you get those stands??

  • So what you are saying is that you cant use the ipad as a standalone sequencer as if you were using a monome .

  • @MrXoned To be honest I am unsure about it as I have not thoroughly tested it. StepPolyArp should come pretty close, though, with the wifi connection.

  • @modulator can you use the ipad app without the monome or apc40 as a sequencer to control ableton also?

  • @MrXoned There is the free "little midi machine" but you have to have midi mobilizer hardware. Or you use StepPolyArp: which you can also use via wifi.

  • so what the hell is the app in the ipad he is using, im sure its not the iPad itself, sorry i cant see any info

  • Nobody likes my little echo-chamber? Gonna install some acoustic tiles then :)

  • @modul8tor It's for your own good. You will liiiiiike. :)

  • @neuronautvideos Hey I agree, do you have some tips on that topic?

  • @modul8tor I was gonna say yeah man treat your room and get rid of that echo.

Cool Video though.. Thanks for the comparisons

  • @Traumarituel Hey I agree, do you have some tips on that topic?

  • @modul8tor Foam

  • Comment removed

  • your room sounds like a reverb chamber... you might wanna add some acoustic tiles. ;)

  • i like the natural reverb in your studio lol

  • @modul8tor amuses me that all your comments answer questions that are already answered in the vid. do people not listen?

fancy giving me your monome if you prefer the ipad? =D

  • @Bates7430 its Livecontrol and Touchosc, and there are others like liine griid or Touchable.

  • I HATE IPAD JUNKIES!

  • * what is

  • Whatbis the app called that u used on the ipad??

  • Thank you for taking the time to review these cool controllers.

  • We need to get you a microphone.

  • what mad speakers!

  • yo MODUL8TOR can you be my MASTERB8TOR

  • Looks like a spaceship! Great stuff!!!

  • Lovely overview! I personally have been staying away from touchscreen controllers because I love the feel of touching my interface, instead of rubbing my fingers all over a glass surface. Also, real hardware can probably take a better beating than glass. ;) Although the versatility and customization of TouchOSC on the iPad is pretty wicked.

  • can i ask how you setup the step sequencer on the launchpad? ive looked everywhere but can't find one like that.

  • @insilico Hi, i mention the applications in the video, plus it's monomeemu for max4live which translates many monome apps to launchpads

  • @modul8tor will it work on macs?

  • @piano25 I am using a mac. :)

  • great reviews. i just bought the launchpad but now i want the ipad for full control!

  • @insilico Both are good, but for me the launchpad is better cuz it's versatile and cheap ( trust me, stuff like that on Brazil is really expensive)

  • Hello there, may I ask what kind of iPad stand are you using? Thanks for the answer in advance!

  • Super! Echt ein Hammer Setup! Gruß!

  • Mr. modulator, please pass that song you are playing with the ipad, i think it kicks ass, would you be so kind ?

  • button fetisch?

  • @Zkrudriverz you bet. :)

  • you look more like a robert your name can't be modul8tor ;p

nice vid some great idea's !

  • "hi, My name is the modulator" Genius:p

  • man what do you really think about the "battle" between monome and novation launchpad?

  • @plastikmang hmm, to be honest, they serve different purposes, and have different user groups. they are just tools. do something with it :)

  • what is the ipad application u used ?

    thanks

  • @acosta599 It is called livecontrol

  • iPad is not bad but...

Physical controls cant be beat by any touchscreen. You should have compared the apc40 you have there aswell. I have an apc40 as well as a SL MKII and I would say the APC40 just rules over all IMO. But still for specific reasons each device has their own uses and usually does it better than the rest which was intended. Overall, iPad's price is higher and that is a limiting factor so, I would definately rather get an APC40 over an iPad as a friend has one and its nothingnew

  • Nice set-up!

  • Where can I get one of those stands that you are using for your APC40 and Monome?

  • @gabrielsaint The stands are from Rain Design, m-stand. :)

  • Hi, thanks for this really great video...Wich app do you use with the monome?

  • Hi basementmila, you can use several apps: One is gs.clipstep (max4live), another one is Liveclip (max4live), and the last one is Livecontrol for Monome, which is a Python script that does not need max4live.

  • a m a z i n g

  • Well done :)

  • This is great, nice to see the Sequencer in action!

  • Great review, the synth bit was rocking.....

  • Great review! Shared it at iPad Music on facebook!
