Many stupid comments about the ipad from people that actually never used, it is obviously the best to control fully all the tracks. There is no latency, the other pads are good for simpler tracks but with touch osc you could also create a button to make jesus appear in the middle of the track
Im very impressed about your setup, i have all this tools like you exept monome..I would be very thankful if you could help me with setup..I was downloaded monome emulator ( polygome ) but i have problem with connection with max..i would like to ask which step sequencer you use in max for novation lounchpad..?
If you can please contact me on email: samplestudios@gmail.com i will appreciate. Thanks roby
Just a small point, but one i feel worth mentioning. You have a lovely home set up, and I am a little jealous, but the reflections in that room are horrible. Is it not tricky mixing in there?
@dimitrigc yes I changed the layout. Its very easy, just use the touchosc editor which is free. My templates would not of much use for you, because there is osculator behind translating, plus the full mapping in ableton.
@LeisureCentury Based on personal experience? I don't think so. It could do a huge ammount of tasks you can use in audio production. With the current OS it supports midi thru usb and wifi, you can use external soundcards (USB Audio Class 1compatible), Alesis and Akai builded professional docks for use in a professional studio environment. There are phantastic apps out there to control external hardware, act like effect units and sound generators. It's a fast growing platform.
@TheLynxie Yeah akai is way more durable but NanoKontrol is a good little thing if you don't want to spend alotta money. I tend to be novation guy though haha
@MrXoned To be honest I am unsure about it as I have not thoroughly tested it. StepPolyArp should come pretty close, though, with the wifi connection.
@MrXoned There is the free "little midi machine" but you have to have midi mobilizer hardware. Or you use StepPolyArp: which you can also use via wifi.
Lovely overview! I personally have been staying away from touchscreen controllers because I love the feel of touching my interface, instead of rubbing my fingers all over a glass surface. Also, real hardware can probably take a better beating than glass. ;) Although the versatility and customization of TouchOSC on the iPad is pretty wicked.
Physical controls cant be beat by any touchscreen. You should have compared the apc40 you have there aswell. I have an apc40 as well as a SL MKII and I would say the APC40 just rules over all IMO. But still for specific reasons each device has their own uses and usually does it better than the rest which was intended. Overall, iPad's price is higher and that is a limiting factor so, I would definately rather get an APC40 over an iPad as a friend has one and its nothingnew
Hi basementmila, you can use several apps: One is gs.clipstep (max4live), another one is Liveclip (max4live), and the last one is Livecontrol for Monome, which is a Python script that does not need max4live.
Which iPad case/cover is that? If you don't mind me asking…

what app are you using for the ipad? and how did that monome cost you?

Launching clips on Launchpad, Faders on Ipad, Step Sequencer on Monome, would be perfect.

If you get a launchpad and make house/techno/electro/dubstep DO NOT buy two. You'll be dealing with loops not little piano rolls.

@SDLeeming AKAI LPD8's are amazing, the KORG is less so. But it's better alone as the AKAI requires software to get the gating the korg has right.
