i almost cried the other day thinking about what else jonathan larson would have written if he didn't die so young. such tragedy to loose not only and amazing person but all the work he would have created if he lived.
It brings me great sadness to think what other great works this man could have written in his lifetime, but at the same you have to be grateful he gave us what we have.
this is an excellent and intelligent parody of Sondheim...its you known know it already listen/watch 'Sunday' from Sunday in the Park with George and you'll appreciate this much more :)
I went to the musical once years after he passed. It was great, but when he sings it it's somehow much more like a story from a real life... thank you for posting.

this is really clever for a special performance or something, but to completely copy sondheim and put it in an actual musical...i don't know about that.
I just tried to read the score of Sunday (Sondheim, sunday in the park with george) at the same time as listening to the Tick version. The man is a ledgend.
Wow. This song isn't on my album. God, I love Jonathan Larson. He is so amazing. I love seeing him perform his own fantastic music. Rest in peace Johnny.
He was so amazing. I wish he was here today to see how big Rent has become...Or at least lasted a couple more years after that first night. RIP Jonathan Larson.
There's a quote from this show, it's something like "It's not that I don't share my feelings, I just convert them into songs and perform them for thousands... etc." but I can't remember the exact quote and it's been driving me nuts! anyone know it?
and this song is hilarious, Jonathan Larson is amazing!
"Now, I've read that most women are more able to share their feelings than men. Susan and I are typical in this respect. The only thing is...it's not that I don't share my feelings. I just convert them into songs...and perform them for hundreds of complete strangers...at popular prices."
What a shame that he's gone ... I think maybe he was sent here to write this amazing musical that has changed people's lives, and that after doing that his work on Earth was done. I know he's somewhere still singing and doing what he loved. Thank you, Jonathan Larson.
Does anyone know if/where I can find a vid of him singing "30/90"? I know I've seen clips of it on the "No Day But Today" documentary, but I was wondering if it's out there somewhere.
i hope to god there were only a few people. how can it have been that way...now he's like this wonderful artistic genius who people love and admire all over the world. but back then, he hardly got any recognition. it's a crime that dying was the only way he could be truly appreciated.
every time i hear the clapping- the very, very, sparse clapping- my stomach turns over. just thinking about how much recognition he got. he never knew how idolized he was, and is. gives me the chills!
omfg, im so messed up. i can't ever watch this song, or listne to Boho Days without crying. its like watching a severly ironic ghost. and i love him way to much. my go, now i'm sobbing. how fucked up is that? thank you Jonathon Larson.
this man was amazing im doing a showcase with this song and the music director is changing bums bums bums to buns buns buns and hes changing notes and everything but i love this song the way jon did it
this was a special feature on B'way: The Amercan Musical. They also have The Road to Wicked and Pacific Overtures(OBC) special rehearsal with Steve Sondheim
I think I like this better than the OCR. It's such a shame that he died so young, he would've made so many more brilliant shows. This song shows just how clever he was. I think he would've been the Sondheim of the 21st century.
this basically is nothing but a parody of the song Sunday from Sunday in the Park With George, with the words changed to fit the scene's setting. This song is more of a tribute to sondheim.
this song was actually stuck in my head for two days, then I got it out and had a dream that night that my band conductor was singing it for some reason on TV....so now it's back in.

I'm just hoping that perhaps he was just performing it for five or six people, and that's why it was sparse. I hate to think otherwise.
