At least they aren't telling you how much of an ignorant glutton you are for eating meat. Stop trolling and flaming videos that are actually trying to help the world.
people is not aware of the consecuences of meat eating, they are not to blame. Is all controlled by a billionare lobby which makes info such as this video not easily available to everyone, I am sure any person who look at the horrors of animal cruelty, the consecuences on health such and the extensive damage to the environment, will think trice before eating again meat or dairy. We vegans also ate meat long ago, before we met someone that has the patience and kindness to explain all about it
@scooma1 Angelina J WILL suffer from her non vegan diet in the future because she obviously has no knowledge whatsoever of nutrition. ANY diet can be disbalanced. You say her plant-based diet caused her health problems so all plant-based diets are bad, well how many celebrities who were not on a plant-based diet suffered health problems related to nutrition? Or were killed by cholesterol, clogged arteries, non genetic cancer? Do you judge a diet on how bad people are at it?
@scooma1 What's MORE, people who ALREADY have those problems and who switch to a completely plant-based diet rapidly see all their symptoms disappear and no longer suffer from the disease. This includes diabetes, even when it is at a critical stage (go read stories). Many doctors know plant-based diets have that effect, but won't mention it because they think it's less convenient than taking a pill, which also happens to give them loads of money.
@scooma1 The leading cause of diet-related cancer, diabetes (in children!), osteoporosis and other bone diseases, heart diseases, autism, etc. is animal products. It is being proven over and over again, that countries that consume the least animal products have the lowest rates in those diseases, that non vegans are more prone to nutritional deficiencies than vegans, that they have more health problems overall and are sick more often.
@scooma1 Animals are overfed on farms so they grow faster and bigger. If exploitation stopped and they only ate what they would normally eat, the amount of food now available would be enough to feed 8 billion more humans. A vast majority of Earth's ressources are wasted by animal farms who overuse everything. 80% of soy production goes to them, and it's what they cut off rainforests for. Really, do your research, it's just embarassing reading you.
@scooma1 Vegan means you recognize the moral status of non human animals. It's not something you switch on and off of. Once you're vegan, it's for life. "If you are not vegan now, you never were." You're mistaking the word vegan for "plant-based diet". All vegans have a plant-based diet, but not all plant-based dieters are vegan. Many plant-based dieters THINK and CLAIM they are vegan, but really they have nothing to do with abolishing the use of non human animals for any purpose. Vegan =/= diet
A carbon tax that's being implemented by governments around the world does not address the core issue. It is just shifting responsibility from the rich to the poorer nation. The win-win solution is to stop eating meat and adapt a plant based agricultural practice.
just day killing is never right, people or animals. Evolvin from nomad hunter to farmers is what made us a civilization and we are moving as human race in that direction, away from animal prod. and growing veggies sustainably. As a person, how can we get a cow or a bird and slit their throat... ? Having so much variety in the plant kindom... people really ignore what animals suffer and current animal industry is a madness that really has to stop... moving away from it´s never been so crucial
you seriously mentioned here Angelina J. ? ^_^ man! jeje, ok.. I think we can go on and on with this forever, since my research really differs from your; my research really cannot justify killing animals for food nor my heart. So let´s really hope people do their theory and field research...
my last comment to scooma1, veganism is not a caste or a sect... people choose it out of health, care for the environment or compassion. Again, we are informing, no need to label people, please. Thanks for your comments, when people go over our debate, they can decide what is best for them. ^_^
so producing meat is more sustainable than producing vegetables? considering that livestock worldwide takes 70% of our tilable land? And considering that one pound of beef use grain which can feed 40 people? So contradictory, isnt? We want livestock to eat pastures? There was no need of livestock before this model was imported from Europe, nature balance out things perfectly, no? So contradictory...
we dont want to protect a system, you are, livestock prodcution. We want livestock to dissapear; it depletes resources, make people sick, mischannel grain which can feed people, takes our tax money... so contradictory... :(
once more, so contradictory; 70% of Amazonas it´s been deforest to produce grains that will be sent to they animal farmsin Europe. Why so hard to understand? If we dont eat meat , 60% of grains will not be produce, cuz there is no animals that demand it. It means as well no deforestation, no water mismanagement, no animal waste runoff, no green house gases from methane and nitrous oxide from manure and animals digestion.
again so contradictory, all civilizations develop on farming plants, not raising livestock, and China Study says most regions in the world where meat and dairy is not in the daily diet they have no rates of cancer or obesity, diabetes etc., and they live longer than the western counterpart which diet is based on animal products, are you sure you know what you talking about? Or simply want to tell me that meat is tasty? All your arguments have no foundation.
so contradictory... Monsanto profit mainly in grain produced to feed animals... there would be no Monsanto if there is no livestock... well, veganism is a global trend that people is trying and looking at the many benefits in term of health. That only you know when you are vegan at least for a month. Again, want to eat meat, is your choice; but we got to inform people, specially of the degrading act of killing violently an animal against its will.
...we will NEVER evolve if we dont change the way we treat other species. How can we ask for peace among humans, when we cannot have mercy for a harmless creature, considering all the healthy and sustainable options there are. There is a mafia, sure, and is a very powerful lobby that want people to continue eating animal product, regardless their health, the planet and the animals. Please get informed, climate change is real, 2010 was the hottest year in human history, worst floods, storms..
just one pound of beef uses the amount of water we use to shower for 6 months and the amount of grains to feed 40 people in developing countries. And perhaps the most important, we are sacrificing 60 billion animals against their will in a cruel way every year; considering we just sent a probe to Jupiter, as a race not to be able to change our way of eating to one that does not inflict pain to others, is simply amazing. No matter if I book all studies that says meat is not sustainable...
In US, 70% of all antibiotics are used for farmed animals, nobody can handle antibiotics for more than a week, and people eat them everytime they have meat and dairy; also the use of antibiotics produces antibiotic-resistant bacteria and virus such as pig flu and the latest salmonella found in turkey, just few examples.
3-Human development: For social security meat consumption uses larges amounts of tax money, resources and personnel, if a hamburguer is not subsidies it will cost $10...
2-Health: Meat is NOT healthy, there is no way to produce 65 billion farmed animals without using modified grains, antibiotics, hormons, etc., not to talk about the conditions where cows, pigs and farmed animals live. Now, latest medical studies demonstrate how animal products are link to basically all illnesses people suffer in hospitals. And perhaps you heard of a vast amount of turkey contaminated with a deadly Salmonella, that meat is not processed.
among those is World Watch Institute, several universities, Rodale Institute, among some of them. All of they point out the detrimental consecuenses meat and dairy has for 1-environment , 2-Human health , 3-Human development
1-Considering you mention mono-agriculture, livestock consumes 60% of all grain produced, which in turn is the main cause for deforestation, land degradation and water and land pollution. Only 15% is used to feed humans and the rest is use in biodiesel.
thanks for the comment; summarizing what is this study about: it analizes the impact of 9 billion people by 2050, and balances out the current production and consumption of animal products which projected to 2050 will make it impossible for Earth to support the global demand. Second, the climate change related effects will be disastrous and third, this activity will jeopardizes fossil fuels. Besides this study, there are other non-vegetarian organizations that points out livestock as a threat.
please post comments to help to make discussion more informative and constructive, personnal opinions are very easy to type; if you have material to debate on this video please you are welcome to post it, if you simply like meat and do not want to change, of course is your personal choice, we are trying to inform people to save their health, save the planet and specially 65 billions farmed animals who die against their will in a gruesome way, thanks

What really annoys me, is the reasoning behind this push for veganism. Yes, oil and the farm industries are quickly destroying this planet. That alone seems to be the premise with this push, but people, veganism is also for a compassionate reason. Animals are sentient beings. We were NEVER suppose to treat them this way, killing them, torturing them, enslaving them. Anything with a 'face' is off limits for killing, period. The Dairy Industry is even crueler. Speciesism sucks.
Jewish religion states that in the beginning everyone was vegan but then man became decadent and started eating meat and living at most 120 years. Hinduism is similar in saying that the age of kali is our current age and at the end of it all people are only going to be eating animal meat. So I think going toward vegan diets is very beneficial for one's spirituality. If you don't need to eat it then why eat it?
genocides & raping the earth for oil and minerals to feed their own insatiable maws . . genocides & raping the animals for flesh and milk to feed their own insatiable jaws
@Bubbapix , I dont think I fully understand your comment, but whether it is oil or meat, people have the power to change the way we produce and we consume. There is nothing more revolucionary than vegan diet, it goes against the most powerful lobbies in areas such as oil, meat, genetic modified food and seeds, water and grain monopoly, industries that cause deforestation and even weapon, since many conflicts starts out staple and water control, etc, etc, etc.
@purehermit My comment was in reply to a previous commentator who was suggesting that the content of this video was merely another attempt at "mind control" of the masses. I used his words re: genocides ... etc to emphasize the actual implications of the piece. Some folk will jump on anything and call it a conspiracy . . .
Vegetarianism, vegan are very wellcome! Killing is a wild violence of primitive people! Without touching the philosofical field nor spirituality, earth and world economy would thank deeply for this new attitude which will give food to many more milions of people
@ambrogiovittadini vegetarianism involves killing as well (just as much). If calves weren't torn from their mother and killed, they would be the ones drinking their mother's breast milk. Male chicks are useless to the egg industry, so killed right after they are born. There is no moral distinction between meat and other animal products.
@lizluyben I am against the NWO also, and I hate whats going on. I am vegan though and my health is WAY better as a vegan. I actually think the NWO loves the meat industry, its the biggest cause of certain cancers and a body can be way healthier without it and unprocessed foods. The big agri bus are in bed with the government and have been for decades.
Please google factory farming.
I dont like the gov. telling people what to do though. But currently the govts subsidise the meat industries.
I tried to become vegan but found myself with a craving for eggs. Undertaking voluntary work outside and a wet summer meant that I needed fish to keep going. Then followed a wet winter and I needed the odd meat pie. It's very difficult to be vegan or vegetarian in a cold wet climate.
@lemsip dont stop trying. Also vegan foods naturally dont have much fats in them, so I find lashing lots of fats on them makes them tastier and fills that need. Meat has loads of fat and so do eggs and other animal products, so I add fats to my vegan foods.
I've been rather lazy lately as convenience meals have been quite cheap recently with special offers though I've always added extra vegetables. I've got some lentils and aduki beans I can cook with veg as they don't take as long as chick peas and kidney beans which seem to take over an hour to cook after soaking. When it comes buying fresh meat and fish I worry that it would go off on the way home. It's just that the weather in the UK is unpredictable with droughts or rain for weeks on end.
Do u know which industry consumes most of our oil? Do u know which is one of the strongest lobbies in the world? Livestock industry. 70% of our livable land, 70% of our grain, 70% of our water goes to their business. If you want to comment inform yourself first, before you support an industry that kills 55 billion rumiants. Oh, and if you are worry about the children who go hungry, remove that pound of beef from your fridge, the grain used for that meat can feed 40 people in developing nations.
@Carnei hi, I would like to add just one thing here, I too have heard that meat may not necessarily be the reason that we evolved, but the fact that our ancestors had evolved because of the extra activities involved with their lifestyle, i.e when they started to eat meat they had to devise hunting strategies and tools etc and these extra activities helped develop the brain and not the meat that they were eating. everything in this is speculation as there is no real way of knowing the truth.
But from the beggining saying that meat helped us to evolve lead us astray from the main issue: meat diet is unsustainable, unhealthy, unnoble. And that is based in facts, not speculation, and is so important that we reflect upon the impact we have in our planet, in our society, in our whole being, so kudos friend if you rethink your diet and choose for vegan daily fare. Thanks a lot for the constructive discussion.
Of course they want you to be vegan. If you ate meat your testosterone levels wouldn't go down the shitter, you'd be less active and the UN wouldn't get away with the shit they're doing to the world public.
@Breaker242 , you are welcome to study further many other assesments that highlight the detrimental effect on the environment, human health and economy caused by meat production, google World Watch Institute, Rodale Institute, Oregon and Boston Universities, The China Study, many more, who reseached on this subject, but unfortunately they have not been fully embrace out of pressure from meat and dairy lobbies. Thanks for watching the video.
This is not an isolated study, there´re many more studies from institutes such as Rodale Institute, World Watch Inst., Universities, NASA, etc. And this assesment is an update from an older study made in 2006, Livestock´s long shadow. Again, we should read all info and have then decide if tehre is anything sustainable in raising 55 billion animals for meat, plus all birds and sea animals we slaughter. But is this the point... really? Isn´t about being compassionate? Would we trust our heart?
We need a factual response to this news; this study made by UN, is prepared by dozens of experts, then check by dozens, or hundred of other scientist. Should we seriously react to this kind of study, then we should review it, instead of discredit it by personal disagrement. The aprox. annual production of farm animals is 55 billions; they eat 70% of our grain, use 70% of our water, use 70% of our inhabitable land. If we care at least for people, can we channel these resources to those in need?
@mtnmanrab People will really do anything and ignore any study just to believe there's nothing wrong about eating meat... How can you be so selfish and blind?

If we care at least for people, can we channel these resources to those in need?
But, can we ask for peace, when we slaugther each year 8 times the population of the world in animals (55 billion, and continue living under a daily fare based in a violent act that takes cruely the life of an innocent being, against his/her will? Can we simply have mercy and compassion and remove that piece of meat, that in turn will benefit mankind, the environment and our health? Can we take a little time and think about it?
I have been a vegetarian/vegan for 50 years. I have not eaten 50 cows in those 50 years. I have not supported those 50 AUHM (animals under human management) from their birth to their horrible death.
Meat and animal based food can be compared to plant-based food as fossil fuel is to renewable energy. Flesh is fossil-ized plant based food. If we spend 7 pounds of plant protein to make one pound of meat protein then whenever I choose not to put meat on my plate, it means I can invite seven people to eat with me who otherwise would not have food.
Monsanto is a byproduct of the massive production and consumption of farm animals. 70% of seeds grown on Earth end up as concentrate for animals. Only 10 to 15% is given to humans, the rest is used for biodiesel. So removing intensive and extensive livestock production means removing intensive and extensive monoculture of maize, soy and other grains, reasons why this study highlights mankind must switch to a vegan fare, because by 2050 we won´t be able to feed animals and people. It´s survival.
WOW! Thank you United Nations for having the courage and foresight to call on a global vegan diet. Our governments and global organizations MUST take a stand like this if we are to save this magnificent planet. So if you really care about the earth & all her inhabitants, if you really care about animals & your health, you'll go vegan NOW!
the main reason to be vegan should be to not kill when there are numerous other sources of food..but if humans worrying about their own asses is what it takes..go for it....vegans have been saying this for decades!
I know , is wonderful, and is really happening, people is open and want to do the shift, all we need is the political will. Please write to your goverment, let´s remind them that there is little time and we have to act now.

Is all controlled by a billionare lobby which makes info such as this video not easily available to everyone, I am sure any person who look at the horrors of animal cruelty, the consecuences on health such and the extensive damage to the environment, will think trice before eating again meat or dairy. We vegans also ate meat long ago, before we met someone that has the patience and kindness to explain all about it
purehermit 6 months ago
@scooma1 Angelina J WILL suffer from her non vegan diet in the future because she obviously has no knowledge whatsoever of nutrition. ANY diet can be disbalanced. You say her plant-based diet caused her health problems so all plant-based diets are bad, well how many celebrities who were not on a plant-based diet suffered health problems related to nutrition? Or were killed by cholesterol, clogged arteries, non genetic cancer? Do you judge a diet on how bad people are at it?
seymourLlama 6 months ago
@scooma1 What's MORE, people who ALREADY have those problems and who switch to a completely plant-based diet rapidly see all their symptoms disappear and no longer suffer from the disease. This includes diabetes, even when it is at a critical stage (go read stories). Many doctors know plant-based diets have that effect, but won't mention it because they think it's less convenient than taking a pill, which also happens to give them loads of money.
seymourLlama 6 months ago
@scooma1 The leading cause of diet-related cancer, diabetes (in children!), osteoporosis and other bone diseases, heart diseases, autism, etc. is animal products. It is being proven over and over again, that countries that consume the least animal products have the lowest rates in those diseases, that non vegans are more prone to nutritional deficiencies than vegans, that they have more health problems overall and are sick more often.
seymourLlama 6 months ago
@scooma1 Animals are overfed on farms so they grow faster and bigger. If exploitation stopped and they only ate what they would normally eat, the amount of food now available would be enough to feed 8 billion more humans. A vast majority of Earth's ressources are wasted by animal farms who overuse everything. 80% of soy production goes to them, and it's what they cut off rainforests for. Really, do your research, it's just embarassing reading you.
seymourLlama 6 months ago

@g0Veg America has no carbon tax

All these talks about reducing our carbon footprint can simply be achieve by eating a plant based diet.

just day killing is never right, people or animals. Evolvin from nomad hunter to farmers is what made us a civilization and we are moving as human race in that direction, away from animal prod. and growing veggies sustainably. As a person, how can we get a cow or a bird and slit their throat... ? Having so much variety in the plant kindom... people really ignore what animals suffer and current animal industry is a madness that really has to stop... moving away from it´s never been so crucial
purehermit 7 months ago
you seriously mentioned here Angelina J. ? ^_^ man!

So contradictory...
purehermit 7 months ago
we dont want to protect a system, you are, livestock prodcution. We want livestock to dissapear; it depletes resources, make people sick, mischannel grain which can feed people, takes our tax money... so contradictory... :(
purehermit 7 months ago
once more, so contradictory; 70% of Amazonas it´s been deforest to produce grains that will be sent to they animal farmsin Europe. Why so hard to understand? If we dont eat meat , 60% of grains will not be produce, cuz there is no animals that demand it. It means as well no deforestation, no water mismanagement, no animal waste runoff, no green house gases from methane and nitrous oxide from manure and animals digestion.
purehermit 7 months ago
again so contradictory, all civilizations develop on farming plants, not raising livestock, and China Study says most regions in the world where meat and dairy is not in the daily diet they have no rates of cancer or obesity, diabetes etc., and they live longer than the western counterpart which diet is based on animal products, are you sure you know what you talking about? Or simply want to tell me that meat is tasty? All your arguments have no foundation.
purehermit 7 months ago
so contradictory...

Please get informed, climate change is real, 2010 was the hottest year in human history, worst floods, storms..
purehermit 7 months ago
just one pound of beef uses the amount of water we use to shower for 6 months and the amount of grains to feed 40 people in developing countries. And perhaps the most important, we are sacrificing 60 billion animals against their will in a cruel way every year; considering we just sent a probe to Jupiter, as a race not to be able to change our way of eating to one that does not inflict pain to others, is simply amazing. No matter if I book all studies that says meat is not sustainable...
purehermit 7 months ago
In US, 70% of all antibiotics are used for farmed animals, nobody can handle antibiotics for more than a week, and people eat them everytime they have meat and dairy; also the use of antibiotics produces antibiotic-resistant bacteria and virus such as pig flu and the latest salmonella found in turkey, just few examples.
3-Human development: For social security meat consumption uses larges amounts of tax money, resources and personnel, if a hamburguer is not subsidies it will cost $10...
purehermit 7 months ago
2-Health: Meat is NOT healthy, there is no way to produce 65 billion farmed animals without using modified grains, antibiotics, hormons, etc., not to talk about the conditions where cows, pigs and farmed animals live. Now, latest medical studies demonstrate how animal products are link to basically all illnesses people suffer in hospitals. And perhaps you heard of a vast amount of turkey contaminated with a deadly Salmonella, that meat is not processed.
purehermit 7 months ago
among those is World Watch Institute, several universities, Rodale Institute, among some of them.
Only 15% is used to feed humans and the rest is use in biodiesel.
purehermit 7 months ago
thanks for the comment; summarizing what is this study about: it analizes the impact of 9 billion people by 2050, and balances out the current production and consumption of animal products which projected to 2050 will make it impossible for Earth to support the global demand. Second, the climate change related effects will be disastrous and third, this activity will jeopardizes fossil fuels. Besides this study, there are other non-vegetarian organizations that points out livestock as a threat.

BCPinkWabbit 7 months ago
Jewish religion states that in the beginning everyone was vegan but then man became decadent and started eating meat and living at most 120 years. Hinduism is similar in saying that the age of kali is our current age and at the end of it all people are only going to be eating animal meat. So I think going toward vegan diets is very beneficial for one's spirituality. If you don't need to eat it then why eat it?

@Bubbapix , I dont think I fully understand your comment, but whether it is oil or meat, people have the power to change the way we produce and we consume. There is nothing more revolucionary than vegan diet, it goes against the most powerful lobbies in areas such as oil, meat, genetic modified food and seeds, water and grain monopoly, industries that cause deforestation and even weapon, since many conflicts starts out staple and water control, etc, etc, etc.
purehermit 9 months ago
@purehermit My comment was in reply to a previous commentator who was suggesting that the content of this video was merely another attempt at "mind control" of the masses. I used his words re: genocides ... etc to emphasize the actual implications of the piece. Some folk will jump on anything and call it a conspiracy . . .

Vegetarianism, vegan are very wellcome! Killing is a wild violence of primitive people! Without touching the philosofical field nor spirituality, earth and world economy would thank deeply for this new attitude which will give food to many more milions of people
ambrogiovittadini 9 months ago 17

LittleWolf1971 9 months ago
I tried to become vegan but found myself with a craving for eggs. Undertaking voluntary work outside and a wet summer meant that I needed fish to keep going. Then followed a wet winter and I needed the odd meat pie. It's very difficult to be vegan or vegetarian in a cold wet climate.
lemsip 9 months ago
@lemsip dont stop trying. Also vegan foods naturally dont have much fats in them, so I find lashing lots of fats on them makes them tastier and fills that need. Meat has loads of fat and so do eggs and other animal products, so I add fats to my vegan foods.
LittleWolf1971 9 months ago
I've been rather lazy lately as convenience meals have been quite cheap recently with special offers though I've always added extra vegetables. I've got some lentils and aduki beans I can cook with veg as they don't take as long as chick peas and kidney beans which seem to take over an hour to cook after soaking. When it comes buying fresh meat and fish I worry that it would go off on the way home. It's just that the weather in the UK is unpredictable with droughts or rain for weeks on end.
lemsip 9 months ago
Do u know which industry consumes most of our oil? Do u know which is one of the strongest lobbies in the world? Livestock industry. 70% of our livable land, 70% of our grain, 70% of our water goes to their business. If you want to comment inform yourself first, before you support an industry that kills 55 billion rumiants. Oh, and if you are worry about the children who go hungry, remove that pound of beef from your fridge, the grain used for that meat can feed 40 people in developing nations.

I don't miss meat at all... It's been years after I read and was inspired by John Robbins The Food Revolution.
chasingcleanair 9 months ago
@Carnei hi, I would like to add just one thing here, I too have heard that meat may not necessarily be the reason that we evolved, but the fact that our ancestors had evolved because of the extra activities involved with their lifestyle, i.e when they started to eat meat they had to devise hunting strategies and tools etc and these extra activities helped develop the brain and not the meat that they were eating. everything in this is speculation as there is no real way of knowing the truth.
BritPortChamber 9 months ago
But from the beggining saying that meat helped us to evolve lead us astray from the main issue: meat diet is unsustainable, unhealthy, unnoble. And that is based in facts, not speculation, and is so important that we reflect upon the impact we have in our planet, in our society, in our whole being, so kudos friend if you rethink your diet and choose for vegan daily fare. Thanks a lot for the constructive discussion.
purehermit 10 months ago
Of course they want you to be vegan. If you ate meat your testosterone levels wouldn't go down the shitter, you'd be less active and the UN wouldn't get away with the shit they're doing to the world public.
Breaker242 10 months ago
@Breaker242 , you are welcome to study further many other assesments that highlight the detrimental effect on the environment, human health and economy caused by meat production, google World Watch Institute, Rodale Institute, Oregon and Boston Universities, The China Study, many more, who reseached on this subject, but unfortunately they have not been fully embrace out of pressure from meat and dairy lobbies. Thanks for watching the video.
purehermit 10 months ago 3
Yes - veganism is the way to go - for health, economic, moral and many other reasons BUT would you trust the UN? Really????
kevinrvs1 10 months ago
This is not an isolated study, there´re many more studies from institutes such as Rodale Institute, World Watch Inst., Universities, NASA, etc. And this assesment is an update from an older study made in 2006, Livestock´s long shadow. Again, we should read all info and have then decide if tehre is anything sustainable in raising 55 billion animals for meat, plus all birds and sea animals we slaughter. But is this the point... really? Isn´t about being compassionate? Would we trust our heart?
purehermit 10 months ago
We need a factual response to this news; this study made by UN, is prepared by dozens of experts, then check by dozens, or hundred of other scientist. Should we seriously react to this kind of study, then we should review it, instead of discredit it by personal disagrement. The aprox. annual production of farm animals is 55 billions; they eat 70% of our grain, use 70% of our water, use 70% of our inhabitable land. If we care at least for people, can we channel these resources to those in need?
purehermit 10 months ago
@mtnmanrab People will really do anything and ignore any study just to believe there's nothing wrong about eating meat... How can you be so selfish and blind?

But, can we ask for peace, when we slaugther each year 8 times the population of the world in animals (55 billion, and continue living under a daily fare based in a violent act that takes cruely the life of an innocent being, against his/her will? Can we simply have mercy and compassion and remove that piece of meat, that in turn will benefit mankind, the environment and our health? Can we take a little time and think about it?
purehermit 10 months ago
I have been a vegetarian/vegan for 50 years. I have not eaten 50 cows in those 50 years. I have not supported those 50 AUHM (animals under human management) from their birth to their horrible death.
dropintheforest 10 months ago
Meat and animal based food can be compared to plant-based food as fossil fuel is to renewable energy. Flesh is fossil-ized plant based food. If we spend 7 pounds of plant protein to make one pound of meat protein then whenever I choose not to put meat on my plate, it means I can invite seven people to eat with me who otherwise would not have food.
TDaaah 10 months ago
Monsanto is a byproduct of the massive production and consumption of farm animals. 70% of seeds grown on Earth end up as concentrate for animals. Only 10 to 15% is given to humans, the rest is used for biodiesel. So removing intensive and extensive livestock production means removing intensive and extensive monoculture of maize, soy and other grains, reasons why this study highlights mankind must switch to a vegan fare, because by 2050 we won´t be able to feed animals and people. It´s survival.
