Teddy smooootthh, you just don't see this type of smoothness and talent anymore, wonder what happened. I wish he was still alive even as a senior citizen he would of outperformed most of todays garbage.
Shit this is considered good music, I'm a Eastern European white male and this shit gives me shivers, why? well its simple..this man has class, he has style, he has vocal range and it looks like he is putting his all into this performance - soul, love, groove, feeling, Im straight by the way and love women...but I can def appreciate someone who has as much talent as this man has, its sad what happened to him and the shape that it has left him, regardless memory of his better days will go on here
@dixie11 You are so right.....Teddy was one of the greatest along with Marvin and if anyone man or woman can sit there and say their voices and songs do not touch their hearts/memories and give them shivers down their spine, they have no soul in them. RIP Ted xxx Love you so much xxx
Teddy P would have turned me into a GROUPIE. No joke. Good thing I was only 2 when he performed this. Good thing dudes dont have his Old School Swag cos teen pregnancy rates would be DIABOLICAL.
2:20-2:25 Teddy P KILLED IT..... I'm 34 and say stuff like"Took It To The Bridge". That's just what h did too. I'v ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG. Thanx for sharing this Baby Making Music.

Hard to believe that this was only a month before he was paralyzed in a car wreck. Happened only minutes from my house. Sucks to lose someone this great.
“When he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun.” - Shakespeare
Great show...and believe one of thelast ones...do you know if it is possible get this concert on DVD? And did anyone see live from Teddy 25 show? Just few videos on tube....
Everyone today need to take notes on how to perform and be poised. You didn't see Luther, Teddy, Marvin, or James Brown with hype men or wiping sweat off of their faces. All the attention were on them, the singer.
@rodshonda You are so right! Real starss! Real singers. still rule!!! When i heard everything Rap House etc etc after a night out,,, i grab Teddy Marvin or James. Big fun ;-P
two of the men that personified being male and sexy with slow jams and smooth vocals...Teddy Pendergrass, and Marvin Gaye. nobody has come close to matching their stage presence or voice that oozes sex. I notice on this clip, was filmed in 1982, so ironic this man became paralyzed from a car accident in March that same year. who knows how many more slow jams would have added to his legacy. its hard to be sexy in a wheel chair. and in 2010 we lost him.such a sad turn of fate I salute you Teddy
The brotha below was right about TP and his swag! The thing is, these young girls nowadays wouldn't be able to stomach a brotha like that! No tatts, no crazy, disjointed, fool's talk! Take note: TP was cool, calm, collected, and the brotha SPOKE well! Sista's today on that gangsta, loud-talkin, ain't sayin nothin brotha with that imposter swag! I know! I'm a 42 y/o professional and I'm still pulling ladies half my age using that old skool swagger! Wake up young brothas!
@csmallz32 I agree brah.85% of these punk ass thugs today have no clue what being smooth, dressing nice,& carrying your self like a true respectful man.Man i'm 44 and i just can't get into any of the 2000's rap & so called r&b. concerts like this has been replaced by shitty voices,pre-school beats, dreadlocks, tats, tank tops, saggin pants, grillz, baseball caps ect.. today you would be considered a bitch, gay, or soft nigga according to today's thugs if you sang or made music like this.SAD & SICKENING
What I would like to know is how did TP's accident impact music. The way I see it, doors were open for MJ and Prince to fill the void that was caused because of the loss of TP's voice and stage presence. Mind you, Prince and MJ would have been big stars, but this man, TP, was a GOD vocally and on that stage--a man's man. Prince and MJ were soft and feminine on the other hand, but talented. Its an interesting juxtaposition and question for the ages.
The great George Michael put it in the best perspective that I've heard an artist put this dilemma. GM stated, "The record companies have focus grouped music to the point that if you don't sound like what's out there and hot, no matter your talent, you are not going to make it." GM was destined to be bigger than GM and possibly Elvis. But he was a soul artist at heart. And when he came out with the Listen W/O Prejudice album, he was black-balled by Sony. Artists today know history!
Something about his voice just touches my soul in a way that no voice has done!! Brings tears to my eyes. I haven't heard a voice like this since Teddy.
when god made teddy.he made one teddy p.i just wish thay would play his songs on the radio and in the clubs, there would be no fighting, thank you lord.goomax
@Meskiagkasher are you calling Teddy P a "homophobic prick"? Is it because he stated a preference for women? That is not homophobia, that is a preference. Don't minimize true homophobia, cause then you just add to the problem.
@Meskiagkasher Oh give me a break. He was joking. People always try to read something into something that isn't. He was all man and probably knew many gay people since he was in the music industry. Get a life you dumb wit.
@Meskiagkasher Very observant of you, yep he is American and he is black and just bcs he jokingly said something to a fan that makes him homophobic. I think you are homophobic dick.
@empressofthefrench that's not jokingly. he could have just taken the damn flowers. buit no, he had to express his contempt. but black men are infamous for being homophobic.
@Meskiagkasher First of all the flowers were not meant for him. He just laughed and make a joke. He is in the business of entertaining and I am sure he was in contact with lots of gays. Do you think I am going to waste my time wondering which race is more homophobic? I used to work in the cosmetics industry and hung out with lots of gays. U must have a pathetic life to even think about such a thing. On the other hand I have a good life and could give 2 shits about homophobics.
I was at this concert, had a standing room only ticket but managed to get down the front to shake the great man's hand! Fantastic show and one of my most treasured memories!
I appreciate the soul in his music, they dont make "Music" like this anymore! Anthony Hamilton (Charlene) is about as close to this generation can even get to Teddys Generation or Genre in music!...Just thinking out loud!
So sad that one month after this show, one of the greatest soul singers of all-time would never walk again. Teddy, may you be back on your feet in Heaven, movin' n' groovin' n' lettin' loose, makin' all the lovebirds feel the love & passion your music makes us feel everyday here on Earth. Peace & Love, Brother.
When God made Teddy he made sure his creation couldn't be duplicated and he did a great job. This is the music of our generation and for those who can't relate, I feel sorry for you. But for those who can, welcome home.

This is what you call Sexual Chocolate!!! Omg he's so handsome this is my favorite song of Teddys. It's very sad about the car accident but I like to think that Teddy lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. He's truly one of the best, there will never be another Teddy Pendergrass R.I.P Love You!!!
apparently the guitarist in my band said his friend called these types of songs 'wetters.' Judging from the comments - damned right! Love it, so funny. Covering it in my band Funky Junction - he is awesome, hoping we can do it some justice.
It's so sad a month after this concert a car acciden't changed his life forever. He was amazing. I listen and watch his videos all the time. No singer today can top him in live entertainment. What a wonderful legacy of music he left for us. R.I.P TEddy.
What a gently songs of teddy about love!!!!! Not like today slut songs!!!!!!!!!! With curse acsident of teddy change the rnb history who knows if teddy contines i thing rnb today is completly difrent today
Sad to know that later that year he would be in that car accident that would paralyze him for the rest of his Life. Who knows how big he would have been if it wasn't for "That Damn Accident".
this is real music and he was singing like he could feel it ,the music now is nothing compared to this ,TEDDY was a bad man, you can't find them like this now , not only could he sing but was good looking too.
@MeMeQueens (Damn! LOL! It's a good thing he said women only, because I'm sure there would have been a few men in the back of the audience pulling of draws too). Teddy had it like that!)
If only MEN would express themselves the way like they're being told to do. TEDDY LAYS IT OUT RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU-IT'S RIGHT THERE JUST LISTEN DAMNNNN!
Oh, Teddy had it! Teddy gave his songs so much emotion, that could be felt in your soul...everything about him was flawless, the band was incredible. Teddy P. had the entire package..tall, dark, handsome, sexy, with a beautiful smile and a rich sensuous Baritone voice.
Teddy P.'S PRODUCERS NEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. His live performances were just out of sight. While he sings with conviction, the band just gives and takes while he's not singing......Awesome!!!!
TP at his best!

Sad to know that later that year he would be in that car accident that would paralyze him for the rest of his Life. Who knows how big he would have been if it wasn't for "That Damn Accident".
