I think that a sequal to Mary Popins would be faboulous. The song "Feed the Birds," had alot of significance to me in 2010 to my family. I know Disney would think that such a thing as a sequal with all the original cast in the wrong hands could be a nuisence.
@1607Link That would be extremely hard to do. The Mary Poppins books had no plot pretty much. They were just fun to read. So they'd have to create their own story since they used up much of it in the first movie. As interesting as it would be to see what they would make of a sequal, I don't think it would be very respectful of the author even though she's no longer with us. She was hesistant enough to make the first movie and I can't see her saying yes to a second. Took Walt 20 years for a yes.
@DisWldFrk90 However, P.L. Travers did work on the proposed sequel, based on the second book (like how the original film was based on the first book in the series). This never completed sequel, as well as using the film and the other books for reference material, helped Cameron Mackintosh and Disney produce the stage version of Poppins, which is the closest thing to a "sequel" that we'll get.
i would only say that they should make a mary poppins sequel if julie andrews is still mary poppins. that would be hard though since she had the surgery that destroyed her voice. dumb doctor. anyway, it wouldnt be mary poppins without julie andrews. she is just MAGICAL!
Karen did a FANTASTIC job in Mary Poppins! That movie would not have been so successful without her and Matthew Garber, their roles were absolutely crucial to the essence of that movie.
@GottaLoveShowbiz Arthur Malet, who portrayed Mr. Dawes, Jr., is still alive. But unfortunately, the great David Tomlinson died 10 years ago. He was a tremendous actor!
Her regre was not staying in contact wit her former co-star, the late Matthew Garber?

Using the grown up kids. Did she even realise that her on screen brother died?
VengaboysRbackINtown 2 years ago
@VengaboysRbackINtown ...I believe she is referring to the characters from the story, not the actors who played them in the original film.
yensidnaf 2 years ago
@VengaboysRbackINtown Yes she did. Her biggest regret was not staying in contact with him.

That Mary Poppins sequel really wouldn't work as there are only 4 actors from Mary Poppins that are still with us: Julie, Dick, Karen and Glynis.

Is that Mary Hart from ET?

it would be a nice idea, but the actor that played her brother died around 12-13 years after Mary Poppins
