  • Joan Rivers was quite the looker back in those days!

  • Lucy was a lovely lady.

  • It's really touching to watch the aged Lucy still having the energy and spirit of the younger Lucy. Her body languages and habits and manners of speaking. Tears just welled up in my eyes. I hope she's found her happiness in wherever she is now, if wherever exists.

  • I love love LOVE her!

  • Lucy's timing is so natural and perfect. Absolutely hilarious, and she does not have to try. Love you always Lucy.

  • Joan looks lovely

  • What a class act.I love how after every talk show when she leaves she ALWAYS stops and acknowledges her fans. Hollywood and T,V, sure don't have the same level of Talent and Class.

  • we still love you, Lucy, down here in Sydney!

  • we still love you, Lucy, down here in Sydney!

  • you can tell that guy wanted a hug from her. hehe

  • I suddenly wish I could go into a special machine and visit a parallel universe where Lucy is part of the show Golden Girls.

  • @TimeKaiser Can you imagine? Great idea btw. She was the best.

  • Wow does Joan ever look different here. She looks sexy in this clip, she ruined her looks with all those face llifts.

Lucy looks good here too, even if she is dressed up like Colonel Sanders.

  • Lucy will always live with anyone that LOVES LUCY!!

  • How sad is it that they're discussing how she should live this many years longer when she actually ended up dying like 5 years later? :\ RIP Lucy

  • when lucy was on the outer seat it zoomed out to show her. but the guy whose on the outer seat? they cut him out and foused on lucy

  • @AtoZornumber0through

That's the "Tonight" show's orchestra leader and one of the finest trumpet players, Doc Severenson. He filled in for the show's "announcer" (Mr. Carson's sidekick and straight man) Ed McMahon, when Mr. McMahon did not work.

  • what a legend, she was amazing :-)

  • Thanks for posting this video...I've been wanting to see the whole interview ...Thanks.

  • Thanks for posting this. I had seen a little bit , but I really wanted to see the whole interview !!!!

  • I'm with u guys--- "Lucy & Joan" are T.V. GOLD- Joan (& the audience) idolized Lucille Ball so much, these interviews amount to "Hero- Worship"! Evidently , that relaxes Lucy, and she's delightful!! Ms. Lucille Ball, Pat P. (in MO.) just wants to FINALLY, formally say "Thank U " for taking my "BLUES" away, & making me LOL-- even on a night like THIS- w/ a TORNADO, STORMING at my window! Miss u-- but SO GLAD U R cracking up our Lost Loved ones in Heaven tonight! :)

  • I remember seeing this when it came on back then. I'd like to see a clip of Lucy on the Joan Rivers show. She was crying because her show Life with Lucy got cancelled. This was right before Desi's death.

  • I'm not as shocked as everyone else by the sudden death of Lucille Ball. The depth of her voice in this video tells it all, really. I barely remember when Lucy was alive (I was born in 86), but she's been a big part of my life since birth. She was (and remains) one of the best female comedians and actresses of all time. RIP Lucy and Desi! We love you!

  • 7:04..what a stupid question...asking someone how long they want to live....

  • This was very genuine, warm and gave me a few good beaming chuckles!

  • I LOVE how at the very, very end as the video fades out you hear Joan say "That's a Legend!' - Joan has class for knowing how to treat Lucy!

  • @sbmsalz2 I SO AGREE.:)

  • @sbmsalz2 Lucy was/is a legend, and against the odds, so is Joan Rivers. She got a raw deal because she refused to allow Fox to can her husband, was banned from Hollywood, and clawed her way back. Joan has guts!

  • @sbmsalz2 Well.....she wasn't so kind after Lucille died.

  • Thank you so much for sharing, this is great! I love how Lucy goes out towards the audience at the beginning and does a 'Joan Rivers' impression with the clapping. What a tribute to Joan to have Lucille Ball doing an impression of her. Lucy was a big supporter of Joan's (even going on her solo show in 1986) and you can tell she's more comfortable with Joan than with Johnny Carson. Lucy is really enjoying herself here and it's great to see. Thanks again! Any more interviews with Lucy?

  • @sbmsalz2 IM SO GLAD SOMEONE NOTICES THIS! I first thought, for YEARS, that she was just showing some appreciation but after seeing a lot of recent Joan Rivers entrances and seeing her applaud the audience, and her "hard" walk, I noticed Lucy was doing the same, Not to mention she says "I was tryina walk like you" at 0:54 lol Good eye! I love seeing small details like that

  • God Bless Lucille Ball, she was a true gift from God. Joan Rivers is amazing as well. What a clip!

  • @ZachChanning Yea, it's such an easy and warm interview. You can tell both women have a respect and admiration for each other. And, being a lucy nerd lol I listened carefully at the end of the video, while Lucy was leaving, and the heartfelt exchange between Lucy and Joan is just so nice to hear "Love ya Honey" "Have a merry a christmas, and happy anniversary! " "Thank you, God Bless as always"

  • @ZachChanning Joan adored Lucy, like so many of us. Perfect interview. Lovely, respectful, funny ♥

  • Thk you for uploadin the interview!! I havent seen it, only the audio of this interview on the Lucy-Desi home movies.

  • @illnsp08 ur welcome :) Hope to add more soon.

  • @love4myclarks7 This is rare footage you got! Yes do add more! Lookin 4wrd to see more of Lucy uploads.

  • If she did stick around another 25 years, should would have made it to 2009! Little did we expect to lose her so suddenly only 5 years later. Thank you so much for sharing this rare interview.

  • But thanks so much for posting this. I've never seen it. This is a gem!

  • Was Lucille Ball bad with math? She said she came out to California to do her first picture, and "now" it's been "thirty some years." Thirty some years??? She came out in 1933, this was 1984. That's 51 years.

  • @rachelazw RIGHT! Something tells me she kinda knew the numbers, which is why she may have said "30 something" lol

  • @rachelazw yes, she was bad in math ...I read it in the Desi Arnaz autobiography !!! He does mention (in a nice way) that she was not good with math.

  • When she answers, I don't remember, you can hear Gary (Morton's) laugh. The thing about not wanting to live toooo much longer - true...She did miss her work terribly.

She really did love the reception she received....and deserved....

  • @stevedalepetworld1 Don't you think she realized her health was declining already at this point? She lived only 5 years after this was recorded.

  • @kymarcin Good question- I don't think so though. This was before her last show Life With Lucy, which she was very excited about. I think she felt very alive and very happy around this time, especially concerning her family and the world's appreciation for her career. I've never known Lucy to be really focused on death and life "at the end" she was too busy trying to stay busy. :)

  • It's amazing to me, too - that when you think you've seen all the interviews that Lucy did, here's another one -- and a great one with Joan Rivers. From 1984 .... I saw the All Star Party for Lucille Ball that Joan refers to in the beginning of this segment, but missed a lot of the Johnny Carson shows (that Joan was subbing for here) because we had to get up and go to work, and was before we had a VCR and DVR's. Thank you for posting. I Love Lucy!!!!

  • Thanks for posting!! Just when I think of seen it all heres another Lucy appearance on here makes me wonder what else there is.
