I love this song for a lot of reasons. One that is mentionable in is that it has a Christmas -feeling to it that transcends the alienation of December, and in bringing meaning to Christmas throughout the year is making a statement. Also the restless tone of the mix sort of bring it back to December with all its stress. Just a couple of reasons for loving this mix. Nina is God
@youmesofie nice analysis. Glad to see people are still enjoying this song. Especially agree about the contrast between the tone and the pacing, it's like a relentless pursuit of meaning, like a microcosm for life. A simple, embedded meaning surrounded by high tempo beats, is life anything else?
this song reminds me of an ex...she had this on her iPod, and I used to drive her back home from University a lot, and as she slept in the passenger seat I'd listen to this song and held her hand as I drove
Puxa... voces são muito negativos, vejam as coisas boas da vida. NINa SIMONE...REMIX... A VONTADE DE ALGUEM FAZER ALGO DIFERENTE.TUDO ISSO CONTA SABIAM... QUEM NÃO GOSTA NÃO OUÇA.
Cant say i enjoyed this song that much, and 6 minutes?! if it wasn't for natural anthem i wouldn't have listened till the end. but, i hope this is one of their earlier, less efforted(?) remixes cause postal service can do (and has done) alot (ALOT) better.

Whomever is responsible for this abomination should be very, very, very ashamed of their self. To take a classic piece of music and turn it in to a joke like this is not funny.
The Verve Remixed collection is really a lovely and beautiful collection of remixes. They really do the original songs justice. This is just great music. The class of the old world, mixed with new music, is something I'll forever appreciate.
I think that the new generation of people remixing music posess a new type of soul. They're not soul-less, just not always what you're used to. This remix does not destroy the song in my opinion. It's a respectable interpretation of the song.
Well I'm glad you liked it. I still think it's disjointed junk. It wasn't a sweeping indictment of all remixers. I love most of the remixed and re-imagined tracks, particularly Francois K's, Here Comes The Sun. That made me cry the first time I heard it. That was a good project. On the other hand, the remixed and re-imagined project for Billie Holiday was the worst piece of garbage.
Wow. That thing about you crying, that's pretty passionate. I stand by my word that this remix probably took a lot of dedication to create. I think it's really unique in many ways that really make me admire the remixers. It's so much better than all the regular pop remixes I hear. It's your opinion, but I think disjointed junk is quite a bit too harsh.
lol. you are right. i'm sure it took dedication, and junk may be a bit harsh. after all, i have heard worse. like that whitney houston cd. she should be embarrassed.
Nina and Billie are legends remix is messed up...like turning the Beatles to Rap - Whatever turns you on, that's why we have a keybord/mouse whatever to turn you off
1standhope needs to enter the present music world, embrace some other talents, and stop being such a fucking snob. this is postal services worst remix in my opinion but they are still amazing musicians.
This remix album blew me away...was great that they released it side-by-side with the original tracks. The Billie Holiday remix was awesome also. If you have anymore of the remix tracks from that CD it would be great if you could upload some of those as well. Thanks for sharing!
Don't tamper with perfection. This is a beautiful song gone bad. So, damn glad I have the original. this is making me sick and I have to go play the original NOW!!
I agree whole heartedly with you, comando0110, most people here will thumbs down because they're all Ben Gibbard dorks. the track really is butchered, though. it went from a sad, forlorn song by the world's greatest female vocalist to a remix with some nerdy, upbeat and catchy tracking behind it. they fucked with her voice too much, also, and you NEVER do that to Nina. as Joe Strummer said, Let Nina Simone rule the world. nobody viewing this video will understand. sigh.
shame its in mono, if anyone thinks anything of this song download it in high quality stereo because the panning is probably the best aspect parts of the song (you'll see what i mean)
Let me be the FIRST to Comment on this song. I...wait a minute...what just happened? A remix??? I believe that IF one is to adjust a song or tune it should be made BETTER. Since you are paying tribute to the lady that I Love Love Love, I see no real harm done...I was just surprised is all. Keep up the good work, kids...and stay out of my garden.
As a working DJ, I can tell you anytime someone wants to remix an old song, its the highest compliment. It means they see true greatness and beauty in a song. Nina's music is so amazing, it works even with a techno beat here.
Sorry mate but if you want kids to keep of your lawn then maybe you shouldn't listen to anything past the 1970s. A remix is not always meant to be 'better' but sometimes different, or just easier to listen to for people with different taste. Im sure if people appreciate her singing enough they will realize the original is better, if not, let them enjoy the remix.
i completely agree with you, but knowing the purist that nina simone was, i don't think she would have appreciated this remix. having said, i personally love remixes, they're a fresh way of looking at older music.

This is an abomination. Watch Nina at Montreaux '76 to see what this is all about...
Or, for that matter, watch Janis sing this on the Tom Jones show 1969...
This is the worst remix I've ever heard,
