Dude! Amazing job! you have a great vocabulary on your keyboard playing! When it comes to sax, Intonation is everything! It was kind of heavy in everything else that you did. Especially since it was out of tune with all the other in tune instruments.

actually it's not your instruments that are out of tune. The riffs that you used do not have harmony. It's like people talking to each other in different languages. counterpoint

Well, despite not having any talent or creativity, the instruments are all in tune. The saxophone, contrary to popular belief, is only slightly out of tune as the overdubbed harmony ostinato is not off key (and, if so, only by a small amount), the first recorded motif is a quarter tone out (admitedly this is quite a big step), therefore it can be put down to embouchure rather than tuning, which might of had something to do with only having played it for a week...I dunno.

The secret on how to use a mic to capture the drum kit effectively...use three mics!

I used two standard paired Behringer condenser mics. One for the acoustic instruments (sax, melodica) and one as an overhead for the drumkit. I also used a normal dynamic microphone for the bass drum. All this, plus the outputs from the other instruments was run through a mixer, and then into the looper.

I use a stereo output from an Alesis 10 channel mixer, routed to a stereo input on the looper. I then use two outputs from the looper, one for monitoring and one for recording.

Yeah. You are correct. It was a bit of a spontaneous improv so I didn't tune up before I hit record!! It's full of blemishes and wrong notes but I hope I was still able to convey what I wanted to get across. Cheers for checking out the vid.
