I've read about Datura (in Carlos Castañeda's books) and it is a plant very potent. There are a lot of steps you have to do to even try it, then it will decide if it likes you or not. Everyone's trips are different, it is not a plant you want to frolic with just to get high, my understanding is it can get extremely dangerous.

My brother unfortunately uses this substance. Ever since he first tried it he has not been the same since, he has been deceptive, haughty, irresponsible, immature, he just seems "not all there." A lot of the people that have done datura say the drug has changed them. It's not uncommon to have lingering effects for years. Things like worsened eyesight, stuttered speech, anxiety problems, even some weak lingering hallucinations.

When you take this stuff you don't even really realize when you're tripping. You may end up eating more leaves or seeds because you think you didn't take enough, and that makes it even easier to OD.
