Mitsuyo Maeda was a judoka, that's the only truth. You can see in all the videos that BJJ is much closer to Judô, than to all of this styles of ancient jujutsu.

@newtubetubetube but... jiujitsu is older than the judo. Tenjin Shinyō-ryū teached jujitsu to Jigoro Kano. Gracies learn jujitsu from Mitsuyo Maeda. Both have same close origins.
@kokyjabn Mitsuyo Maeda was a judoka, he also was a direct student of Kano Jigoro. Maeda teched Judo to the Gracies, the confusion may be because judo was sometime refereed as "Kano Jiu-Jitsu" in Brazil.
