She wouldn't necessarily died after the first stab, if you knew anything about cuts and bleeding then you'ed know it exceptionally difficult to die from self inflicted cuts. Firstly you can't cut deep enough through the pain, and secondly to hit enough major arteries (non the less in less then a min) would not be a straight line. Let's take this scene for example, trying to slit the throat deep enough is harder then you know...

well, anyhow.. killing yourself with stabs and hits indeed IS impossible, since the body's sense of pain is to protect you from further damage and if you reach a pain-lvl high enough you WILL faint. only way to kill yourself is to be in a state good enough to move by yourself, and take a gun (or lookalike) and shoot yourself.. or jumping off a cliff, taking venom-potion, etc.. But yeah, i think she can do it due to her earlier pain/death-experiences.
