I have a GCC Jaguar IV cutter. Do you know if I can use scrap pieces for it? I cannot figure out the setting after choosing "Piece" to read the material. It quits cutting if I don't have enough "extra" material. Although I cannot figure out what the extra amount is that it requires.
Interesting - thats a great tip! I may try it myself:) Also, you don't need an optic eye to read the size of the vinyl, any cutter with a sheet sensor is capable.
Or go to Walmart and pick up a cheap Cricut mat for $8 and place the scrap vinyl on the mat and cut as normal. No need to tell the cuter nothing just cut as you normally would.
@CADCUTDirect Cutting mats are numbered across the x & y axis so when you place scrap vinyl on the mat you can see the dimensions of the vinyl. Go into your cutting software & design your image to fit within those measurements. Load the mat into the cutter, position the blade to start cutting from where you want it to start & that's it. Keep in mind that everyone does not have a cutter with an optical eye that can read the vinyl size which is why I posted a different method for cutting scraps.
good tip

@pakt40 How will you know what size of design you are capable of if you don't allow the cutter to measure it?
