  • wonderful hair hunny,... adore your techniques:)

  • You have given me help and encouragement. I chopped all of my hair off in July 2010 and it is growing, just taking some time to get there. It is so good to see African American women growing out long healthy hair. I will continue to watch you on your journey and keep up the great work!

  • I just found you & like the rest of the comments, just want to tell you how beautiful your hair is! I'm looking forward to your future videos!! :))

  • gorgeous results! I'm going to try ur method with the rollerset.

  • @polifonyann I'd love to see the results and how it turned out! :-)

  • Girl your showing out!! But I dont blame you!!!lol

  • No nonsense. Straight to the point. Fantastic results. You've got me hanging onto your every word--and yes, I WILL be using this beautifully simple technique myself. You are incredibly generous to share this with all of us. Thank you!

  • Your hair is GORGEOUS!!! Does your hair tend to get dry during the month. If so, do you add more of the AVEDA oil to your hair or do you add some other type of other moisturizer?

  • @dllewis76 No, my hair was not dry in September (when the video was filmed). My hair has been dry lately (during the winter months), so I've been doing alot of hot oil treatments for my scalp. I use heavy oils - olive oil - coconut - grapeseed when I'm wearing a protective style. When I want to preserve my rollerset hair style - I use a very light oil like aveda.

  • @SistaWithRealHair Thank you for replying. I saw the rest of your video where you answered my question. I'm on my way to the beauty supply store now to get the products and supplies you mentioned. I'm transitioning (newbie) but I did not want to do the Big Chop. I'm chicken. LOL. Thank you for making the videos. They are soooo helpful. I also wanted to throw in that not only is your hair pretty, you are very pretty. Again, thanks for the videos and the reply.

  • @MsMy215

I'm been doing this technique (literally) for the past 10 years!

My hair has been cut (not trimmed) SO MANY times over the past 10 years... the routine would change (a little) with each new hairstyle/haircut.

  • @SistaWithRealHair. I have been a stalker of YouTube for a long time and this is the first time I have EVER posted a comment. I felt I HAD to. Don't give up! I encourage natural hair because its SO much healthier and versatile!

When you feel like "throwin in the towel" continue doing what you're doing...finding videos that will keep you inspired & motivated! What are some of your hair challenges?

  • please do more videos.iiiiiii love them!!!i am transitioning but i still got my relaxed ends!i used to relax my hair regularly so i would not be concerned with handling my own afro hair.since i live in germany it was hard for me to find someone who actually could help me,so i was searching on youtube and soooo glad i found you.now i cant wait until my virgin hair has grown longer so i can apply your technique on it.thank you <3

  • Wow...I bet you get weave checked a lot lol...

  • Im jealous :(

  • Oh wow your hair is gorgeous

  • Very pretty hair on a very pretty girl.

  • Please help me! You and your hair are beautiful!! I am transitioning...its been 1.5 yrs and I set my hair and flat iron the virgin portion. I was wondering if i should use a higher heat in order to gradually loosen my natural curl (coil).

  • @melanin12345

I would try a low temperature and see how your hair reacts from there....theny gradually increase the temperature depending on what type of curl pattern (if any) you want.

  • Hi. Your hair looks awesome. I'm not natural but I'm sure I could achieve that look if I put in the time and effort. Thanks for all the info. Have a great day.

  • OH MY GEEEBEEEZZZZ!!!!!! I GASPED WHEN YOU LET IT DOWN..... SIMPLY HEALTHY AND BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I'M A NATURAL SISTA, HAVE BIG CHOPPED 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 4 YEARS.... LOLOL.... DON'T KNOW WHAT REALLY MY GOAL IS WITH IT. I'M SOOOOOO GLAD I CAME ACROSS YOUR CHANNEL??? ARRGGG!!!! I'M GONNA DO THIS ON MY DAUGHTERS, FIRST. AND YOU HAVE TOTALLY INSPIRED ME TO TRY AGAIN ON MYSELF :)!!!!!! THANK YOUUUUU!!!!

  • LADY YOU LOOK GOOD!!! THAT HAIR IS BOMB!!! GET IT!!! 100% NATURAL!!! AYEEE!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Your hair looks fab!!!! You are able to make this hairstyle last a MONTH??! Do you work out at all?

  • @SportNBeauty

No...the actual hairstyle doesn't last a month (not the bounce and volume) but the straightening aspect of it does. By week 3...my hair is pretty flat and lifeless...that's when I through a protective style on and keep it moisturized until the end of the month. See my "great moisturizer vid" for more details about how I wear my hair once the roller set has worn out.

  • Great video! What version of the H2 Pro flatiron do you use?

  • @msdarlingsugar

H2pro Presto Turbo Flat Iron / Hair Straightener 1" ....will run you about $130 - $160 depending on where you purchase it....its cheaper online!

  • Girl when you took down your hair i had a hair- orgasm ! Love Love and I am subbing now! <3 your channel!

  • @HairDefinesYou Hair-Pervert:)

  • GREAT JOB! I love that your video was clear, detailed, and precise. I would love to see your hair week 3 to see how it holds up. This is corny but you resemble my mom when she was younger and seeing this video brought a tear to my eye. Because my mother used to have long thick hair (like yours) and she used to get her hair pressed--sge would allow me to play in her hair before she roller set it at night. It was our bonding time. My mom still sets her hair every night lol.

  • @kk7462

Awwh...well I'm glad that I'm a positive reminder! Yes, hair grooming can be a bonding experience for everyone. I just loooove having my hair played in..brushed...combed, puts me right to sleep! lol

  • your hair is fierce.. I am trying your regimen.. thank you for your channel..

  • OMG! This is so beautiful!

  • The hair huni!! I can't stop saying it!! #LIFE!!! and woman!! u r stunning!! BTW, I've been trying figure out who u remind me of, or look like...Gabrielle Union!! :-)

  • OH... MY... GOODNESS! Your hair is absolutely beautiful! I currently have braids in but I canNOT wait to take them out so I can try this! My hair is much shorter than yours but I'm inspired. Thank you so much for this!

  • I want to know what setting lotion you use when you do use it? I want to buy some today if I can.. Everything I have found has dried my hair out.. And Shea butter sucks!

  • @lissymay2007

No setting lotin was used babe...nothing at all...

  • ok, thats great to hair that you're natural. Ive been natural a year and a half in december. I graduate from college and wanted to straighten my hair in order to get my cap on and itll be nice to do something different. Your video made me feel ok with straightening it seeing as your curl pattern returns. Thanks so much for the encouragement:)

  • @wilsons1980

i ALWAYS deep condition BEFORE I flat iron my hair!

My hair can take a 450 degree temperature (NOT suggesting you do it) because...

    1. My hair is not chemically altered (natural hair in MY opinion is healthier)

    2. I do not blow dry my hair

    3. I alway deep conditon prior to flat ironing

Deep condtion and straighten at a low temperature...your hair will be fine!

  • Wow, beautiful results!

  • DAMN I bet everyone asks if you have a weave!

  • @adorablebelle

    lol...yes they do...all the time!

  • Ur hair is gorgeous ...u did that!!! Thx for the tutorials. Immaterial try it

  • U did that girl...thx for the videos. Ur hair is gorgeous

  • wow your hair is gorgeous do you have a perm?

  • @wilsons1980

10 years since my last perm

  • I want to know what u use when you are setting your hair on rollers.. Everytime I try a product it dries my hair because of the alcohol in it.. anybody help!

  • @lissymay2007

I didn't put anything (setting lotion) in my hair for this roller set.

  • @lissymay2007

I didn't use a setting lotion for this roller set...which I think contributes to the volume and bounce!

  • WOW, amazing girl.

  • Gwurrrrllll...I just yelped with excitement when I saw your hair flow out of that wrap...LAWD!!! Bless ya.

  • How Long you bin growing your hair for?

  • I see you trying to get that bang to move lol. I'd be doing that too, whipping it and some more. Subbing!

  • YOU HAVE BEAUTIFUL HAIR. I'M TRYING TO GET MY HAIR HEALTHY LIKE THAT.

  • wow !! just wow...I have hair envy!!!

  • This is top notch hair porn! You are very pretty. :)

  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • Oh my word! Ive been natural like forever.your my hair twin! I found one.lol I done your trim and my hair looks lovely. Now its getting length as my hair is always the same length(2" over collar bone) I have babylis pro straightner and aveda hang straight serum..ill try that other one though

  • Im really watching this vid again.. I think im ready to let go of weave. You have become my hair idol lol.

I'm ready to be your disciple ;-)

  • WOW!!! Thats right girl.. I'm loving your hair!

  • only 3 minutes and 29 seconds and ive fell in love with ur channel

  • I sent this video to my cousin who is a beautician and a specialist in hair care, because your hair looks like the work she does...your hair is beautiful!!! I had long hair before but I hate combing my hair. But watching u I think I'll start combing it again lol

  • Your hair is soooooo Beautiful!!! Yes, you got me so inspired! Thinking about getting rid of this relaxer too! Keep the videos coming sis.

  • Omg it's gorgeous!

  • Swing Your Hair!!! You Go Girl..Your hair is Absolutely Gorgeous!

  • gorgeous hair. i am incredibly jealous. please keep doing what your doing. great job.

  • I'm SO EXCITED...I WATCH THESE VIDEOS OF YOUR 3-4 TIMES A WEEK! Thanks you know I'm gonna kick butt...update video and trim on Jan 5th! I want my hair in the same layers you have but I'm terrified of cutting my own hair.

  • @CreoleAdonis

LOL...yeah...most people are afraid, but its just hair...it will grow back eventually (and healthier)!

So you want layers? I love your blunt cut, but I guess layers will add a little versatility.

Your hair is very thick and healthy; You did an excellent job retaining length over the 2 year period!

  • I wash my hair once a month (12x's a year) with absolutely no breakage at all!

  • @SistaWithRealHair

Ok. Well, yeah that was what I was told that its good to wash it often so the build up from not cause breakage, but I guess that is not necessary true.

  • @iamaksd Everyone maintains their hair differently (as seen through hundreds of youtube videos).

I can only speak for MYSELF.

Some speak for...some speak against shampooing frequently

Study your hair and find out what works best. I did alot of trail and error only to discover shampooing frequently dried my hair and scalp.

  • @SistaWithRealHair

True. I kind of notice dryness as well. But I will continue to see what works best. Thanks for sharing and responding back. :)

  • I don't know if you saw my question on this. I see your response to Chantealexis. So, you can go without washing for a few weeks and it wouldn't cause any breakage?

  • @iamaksd I wash my hair once a month (12x's a year) with absolutely no breakage at all!

  • CANT LIE I WAS CUSSING YOU THROUGH THE WHOLE VIDEO :-/

  • Ur hair is absolutely gorgeous!! TY for the vids!

  • Im mixed but i got a relaxer about a year ago and im trying to grow my hair out right now i straighten it everyday, do you think this would work for my hair

  • @chantealexis I straighten my hair once...maybe twice a month! Its Oct 23rd and I haven't washed or straightened my hair since making this video (Sept 25th) the less you do to your hair - the better!

I would suggest another method of doing your hair other than just straightening, like a rollerset WITHOUT flatironing it afterwards.

  • It's the 22nd!!! Lemme see that hair!

  • @CreoleAdonis

    New video Novemeber 1....stayed turned!

Oh...I will also be watching to see who is winning the competition...that seem SO much like fun! Good luck!

  • I almost threw something at this computer!

  • Does it matter what size rollers I use? For example medium vs large

  • I am a new subscriber!! Love your hair!!! So this is 100% natural (meaning no relaxer) hair?

  • @kristenjdec Correct...no relaxer. I did the big chop twice...once with the relaxer (10 years ago) and a semi BC (5 years ago) when I bleached my hair for an entire year (my hair was ruined).

  • @SistaWithRealHair Oh ok. Well your hair is gorgeous! I am going to use this video as an example to show my hairstylist when she puts the sew-in weave in my hair. I like the layers to be feathery-looking (I know that's not a word lol) as well. So I need to show my stylist an example. Hopefully, I will be able to grow out my hair like yours so I can rock this look on my natural hair. Just gorgeous, dahling!

  • @kristenjdec Thank you babe...I would love to see how it turns out!

  • Your hair is WOW!!! This is exactly how I want my hair to fall. Off to watch your other vids.

  • THE TRUTH! I love it=)

  • How Often do you Flat iron your hair on average during a year ? :)

  • @purpleeye92 An average of once/twice a month for 9 months (9 to 18 times a year). I give my hair a winter break (wear wigs) from Jan-April. My wigs keep my head warm in the winter! LOL

  • Woman PLEASE!!! I felt like I should pay you for the first part of the tutorial, and then you continued. What a blessing you are-please keep it up. Thanks to MotorCityMoxie for shouting you out. Your hair is BEAUTIFUL.

  • Love it. Go girl

  • Gorgeous!!!

  • I love it!!! It's beautiful. Just amazing. OMG!!!!! Do you live in Atlanta? I am looking for a stylist.

  • BEAUTIFUL GIRL

  • Your hair is absolutely beautiful! I have a few questions.

    1. What brand of oil/serum products do you use other than aveeda?

2.How do you prevents your edges (sides and kitchen) from becoming kinky or frizzy throughout the week?

My edges tend to nap up after getting out of the shower in spite of wearing a shower cap. I look forward to your response:)

  • Absolutely beautiful hair! Omg! Just amazing!

  • your hair looks beautiful

  • Omg your hair is BEAUTIFUL! I love it. You better work it!

  • @naturallyme7 thanks! :-)

  • Your hair is georg!!!!!! darling!!!

  • @CocoaEuro Thanks babe!

  • Beautiful! Is one side longer than the other? If so will you even it out with your next clip?

  • @AlNisa21 Yes...one side is longer than the other (its mentioned in my 2nd video). I'm giving the right side time to catch up with the left side. You'll see me even it out during my next video.

  • Did u have a vid of how u put ur rollers in??

  • @sinceremami I did, but it was so long and boring (if you've seen one rollerset...you've seen them all). It ran 30 minutes long...so I just deleted it.

  • @SistaWithRealHair Oooohh Okay lol understandable

  • I swear by roller sets but mine have never come out as bomb as yours lol. Also, I had inconsistent results when I did it a few times this summer. But I always had good results when I was relaxed. After watching your videos I'm thinking I may have used too much products (setting lotion, mousse) so I'm definitely going to try your "less is more" technique Next time I roller set my hair.

  • @pinkpassion526 Yes...less is best (for me) when it comes to roller sets! The roller set prior to this one...I used a setting lotion (isoplus) It made my hair flat (maybe I used too much). I didn't use as setting lotion at all this time. I love your hair color...can't wait to see your results!

  • @SistaWithRealHair oh that's not me on my page lol. It's one of my favorite youtubers. I have all my favorites saved on there for a quick reference. I haven't actually made any videos yet. I feel like I'm not enough of a natural hair expert yet lol.

  • @pinkpassion526 Oh right! Duh...silly me! LOL

  • @SistaWithRealHair I can't wait to see all of your upcoming videos :)

  • Roller set giiiiirl...its the roller set! LOL

  • A girl sitting next to me saw me watching this video and asked " you trying to learn how to do a sew in" lol

Gurl from the thumbnail I thought you had a wig on ...seriously and motorcitymoxie too.

  • Thanks for the quick response! Excellent job on the tutorials. So thorough. I grew up on Creme of Nature too and KeraCAre and Mizani and now seeing this, I need to just stick with those staples again cause my hair did this well back in the day when I did (or my mom did) this same thing. I will give this a try again. I have had to use wigs, cuz unfortunately I have had pain in my hands that has prevented me from even detangling my hair. But this looks fairly simple and consistent. Thanks!!
