  • my shero, you light my fire TOMOCA this ain't no tapioca nor gelatinous cruelty live life good and practice peace love and unity!

  • I play the oboe- my school jazz band wont let in oboes though =(

  • I think she's the one who plays the oboe in Ennio Morricone's Gabriel's Oboe.

  • Holy Moses! What a wonderful surprise. Mitch Miller would be proud (some of you will know what I mean).

  • Cool keep coming back, OBOE POWER, bless

  • She's very talented. I'm in my school jazz band and i play oboe.

  • Out of tune noodling....

  • Good playing, but in my opinion, oboes should only be used in classical music.

  • where can i get her cd? the only source seems to be her web page, but it doesn't seem to ship to my country :( help, anyone?

  • bravo

  • I respect what she is trying to do. But I like her Moonlight with Strings much better.

  • Personally I don't think the oboe belongs in jazz. But she still has great technique.

  • YES! This is fantastic! I love my oboe so much! And I've been trying really hard to find some good jazz oboe. You have no idea how hard that is to do. Or maybe you do. haha. This is an awesome job. Though, I don't care for the bending of notes at all, but I appreciate the stylistic interpretation. LOVE the honking and squacking. Almost saying "OH! Look what I can do!" haha.

  • Her name is Oboe..?

  • This jazz is completely horrible.

  • @Eprocadation Care to elaborate?

  • Worst name

  • Very interesting to hear aboe there where usually is clarinet/sax!

It reminds me of cornett or trumpet's way of articulating.

  • oboe is a instrument for rich people, it is really expensive instrument :s

  • your playing is very good. Although I've played oboe for 30 years, I cannot play oboe in the jazzy way.

  • haha yes it is!! people use to call me a duck when i started

  • -.- man there are so few oboe plaayers.... people nicknamed me the"lonely oboe". which i still dont really get...

  • were u the only oboe in the orchestra or something, yeah people used to call me my instrument too, dunno y lol, laziness i guess

  • i love it!

how i can get this music?

  • This is enjoyable. :)

  • リズムも音の繋がりもよれよれやんけ。。俺がこの時点だったら動画は投稿しないな。

  • ya know...... it seems oboe players are rare. im the only oboe player at my school! :D/D:

  • I agree with you! I'm the only oboe player at my school as well!

  • @bucketfaced There are only two of us in Symph this year!

  • nice! just 2.....

  • lucky. there's three at mine and i have to fight to got into the advanced band class, and i lost simply because of seniority. my band director even admitted that i was better but a freshman and he was going to give it to the junior.

  • You are wonderful player who loves jazz, and music. I hope great response for your new album "Lotus"

  • Try listening to Yosef Lateef. He can make the oboe sound jazzy. He is quite progressive in his style of music, whether you like it or not is irelevant. However, it shows that oboe can create the jazz sound.

  • You are a genius for sure...it's so difficult to make the oboe sound 'unclassical!'

  • @VallisDavies her being a genius is true, but in my opinion oboe sounds great even in jazz. i find it's sound quite fitting for everything. im playing only 2 years, and im improvising every now and then and even though my sound is clearly not the best, i dont think it sounds bad ^^ just my opinion, though

  • This sounds so '80s. Shes talented but I don't like it.

  • Comment removed

  • sooosoury, it sounds japaneez hi

  • I'm a saxophonist and a clarinetist, but I also play oboe and bassoon, but just for kicks. I was hoping to find out about jazz oboists. Here's one. :)

  • I prefer real jazz, not this techno stuff, but still, you can tell she is very talented. At times the sound almost reminds me of a soprano sax. She's probably a fine classical player as well.

  • Techno stuff?

  • Well!!!! This is incredibly amazing...and I know what a brilliant classical technique it takes to produce this level of 'relaxed' virtuosity BRAVO!! Sien Vallis-Davies

  • sounds a lot like 80s synth smooth jazz background with traditional jazz oboe in the mix. The mix isn't all that great, especially the cheap midi samples. Please don't mistaken me for hatin', but it makes a big difference in how the oboe sounds with the rest of the instruments as far as studio recorded tracks are concerned. Kind of sounds like it was just slapped together, and that was it.

She's pretty good though! And no, I'm not comparing it to anyone, it's just an opinion. :-)

  • yeah lol. sounds pretty bad lol. not saying that she isn't talented, but i just don't think that oboe should be a jazz instrument lol.

  • well I still think oboe has a place in Jazz music, it just seems like they need to work harder to find their respectable voice in Jazz. Check out Jean-Luc Fillon on YouTube, and you'll see what I mean. He makes it sound like he's putting a classically trained sound behind it. :-)

  • look at lovers leap from bela fleck, that is a Real oboe jazz improvisation.

  • i'm sure she isn't the only one

  • now that ive played oboe 4 3 years, i want 2 start a new generation 4 american jazz oboe. this vid really inspired me!!!

  • I play oboe I thought that I was good then I heard this. AHhh! Practice practice practice. I will get better I will prevail through practice! practice practice practice. It will take a couple centuries but I will prevail!

  • this sounds so dam awesome. i didn't know that they had this type of stuff for oboe. any1 know where i can get it?!

  • Love this lol its soo cool how shes the only 1in Japan!

wish i was that good!! lol :)

  • i play the bassoon but i want to play the oboe so bad

  • ITS LIKE HEAVY METAL OBOE

  • i love it when she goes craZEY

  • that soo freaking awsome!

  • lol @ sharpemo123. It's ironic since almost all orchestras will use the principal oboe to tune.

  • I'm sure that if YOU played oboe it would sound like that,

but judging from your apparent wisdom, I'd say you'd sound like crap no matter what instrument you played on.

    Oboes fucking own, mate.

  • cool shit! :D

  • Yeah right. OBOES ROCK.

  • no she isn't !

  • You don't know how to appreciate the sound of an oboe. She has probably been playing a very long time. You try playing, and I guarantee you that you will sound like a dying duck. She plays it quite beautifully.

  • Why doesn't she open her eyes when she plays?

  • !WOW! This is good, I love jazz oboe.

  • SUGOIIIIIII!!!

  • no veee a la xina se le va la ollaa!! jaja k guay

  • Awesome!

IT's nice hearing something new on the oboe, although i think it was at about 2:38 some of those high pitches, were somewhat frightening. lol, but other than i just loved it. It's really sad my band teacher actually isn't very fond ob obes at all so i can't participate in jazz or pep band.

  • in german i'd say: ist das geil!

i luv this sound. i want her cd :D

  • To people who thinks they can do better and leaving bad comments: MAKE YOUR OWN VIDEO

  • I play in my school's jazz band on the oboe! It's a lot more fun than sticking to just playing classical. However, I do enjoy playing classical

  • Really, really talented. Needs a proper backup band though, the midi almost ruins it.

  • uur face should stick to classical it sounds good dumb cock shiners

  • ooo

    great comeback

  • this is weirdddd...

    oboe should stick to classical

  • most definately I disagree, music, any is a creative force, look at any jazz musician, simply creating, just playing, and who gives a shit what the instrument is, harp, harmonica, oboe, create, this is all that matters.

    di sipio

  • Ok, she is good, but I just don't think that the oboe belongs in jazz.

  • Thank you for a terrible comment.

    There might be various views.

    However, we are alive.

And, music is loved and tomoca 's sound is loved.

  • @dgjiephfurreighR Check out her moonlit with strings. It would better fit the jazz style of which oboe is made to play

  • Great oboe playing but the rhythm is terrible

  • Wow, this is perfect! I play oboe too, and I love oboe in jazz! Your style is really interesting!

  • Wow! That's cool!

  • Thanks dear learjet4. Yes! we try.
