i ordered at standard 8800gt but i got lucky and recieved a special editon with a much better fan, from Asus. that fan is completly unhearable, but cools great.
yeh 8800gt is fucking loud, stfu fags that complain it isnt that bad, EVERYONE who has heard mine thinks it is too noisey, i can run it at 30% and it still draws attention to itself ;__;
dude thats normal but its not loud its decent dont depend on the loudness ok just fck it and its made to play games and stuff oh yeah the fans dont autospeed its always broken manual only
Just recently saved up 4 years to get a top of the range PC. Quad Core, the shit. Got NvidiaGeforce 9800, the remake of the 8800. I got two of em bad boys in my system and they both have 1GB of memory on them.
WOW... all you are doing is controlling the fan of the graphic card with a program called: Rivatuner.. I use the program too and overclocked my 8800gt and set the fan to 50% when stock was 34%.
It's way higher in RL. Trust me. every game works fine, but shit... even if i use a headset, i still hear that fan! You would'nt even hear bombs going off nearby if it would!
i keep my 8800gt's at 70% fan speed, idles at 40C, loads at 55C, but crysis loads at 60C. oc'd both to 700mhz core, 1700mhz shader, and 1000mhz memory.
hey man, need some advice, i have a HP media centre pc just like you, i changed my psu nd upgraded to an 8800gt from a nvidia 7500le. but how do you overclock your cpu cos my bios is locked i dont ko how to unlock it and all that, do u kno a way so u dont have to unlcok your bios?
i just put an 8800 in my comp a few minutes ago and i thought it was pretty loud, but now i know i was wrong! It just sounds like static in the background while this one is just... wow
The problem is that you have a 2-pin header which doesn't allow you to adjust the speed. This is on certain low-budget 8800GT models like mine. It will then run on 100% ALL THE TIME. I just bought a Arctic Cooling S1 (Rev. 2) and I'm gonna place a 120mm case fan to it. Can't wait to try it and relax without the vacuum cleaner noise in my chassis.
or you can flash it.. i did it with my old ati 3870 and my actual ati 4870... you need a program to copy the bios of your card to you pc and ahother to change the fan setings in the bios..
Guys If you want to watch this video in High Quality, add &fmt=18 at the end of the url (works with all of the videos) Makes videos much better to watch!
wow are you serious to me thats really quiet. my hp right now get loud like a vacuum cleaner for like 10 secs to cool it down, then it gets normal. anyway, 55% is quiet
Well, worst come to worst, this card is pretty cheap at this point and will get even cheaper with the new Nvidia card coming out. So worst case you could just buy an aftermarket cooler to slap on there, good idea anyway if you plan to overclock it.
whts wrong with ur card snd it bck if u werent the 1 who brok it, and i know it shold not make that noise because iv herd a thipple SLI 8800 Gts cards all together and it doest make that much noise or that grinding noise either SO FIX IT NOW or snd it bck which ever one is the one that you should do OH my GOD this is the longest comment in the histery of ever holy shit letters are going to be MAXXED out oh i only have 79 allowed left to put in here oooo thats so gay i hav a limit 15 well no more
i want to get eVGA because of the step up program, is it worth it? or should i go for XFX since usually their fans are really quiet even on 100% like nuttertools said.
The GT will sound the same even if you buy it from XFX, unless they actually replace the default Heatsink / fans its always going to sound loud.
Kfootballkid, Also his fan is increased from the basic 30%. Trust me with a good case you won't hear a thing, I currently cannot hear my 2 x 8800 GTX Ultra's
I have the same shitty card too! IT SUCKS! I have it over clocked to 614 core and 762 for the memory to make it able to play some games. I am able to play Crysis on almost everything on high but like 3 settings. If I was to put those 3 settings on medium and everything else on high, the card gives me like 3 fps.I have to put the resolution down to 800x600 play the damn game too! If I didn't have 2560mb of ram, I'd be screwed. In a month or two I'm getting a 8800GT- CAN"T WAIT. MY CARD SUCKS!
lol, at first I thought you were talking about the 8800GT and was like "What? Those videos on the GT's performance are lying to me?" Fixing to run 2 of them in SLI, gunna be sweet!
I agree with you. People complaining about loud fan sounds are pretty stupid. Put some headphones on, that's what you should be doing anyway if you're a gamer.
dude that sucks. my xfx is super quiet even at 100%. also my temps idle at 40 and max out at 52. i dont understand how people are getting such high temps and loud fans.
lol mine is at 29% fan speed and its idle 70C. xD and when playing in never goes above 85C. i forget to tell you that im running TWO od these in SLI so its hotter in case...
All the fans on my computer are silent so I nearly shit myself when I first installed and ran my GT. I run it at 75% (46C) and just wear headphones to keep the noise out.
hey man, whenever i use rivatuner, i cant speed up fan speed..i dont know why is it something to do with conflicting nVidia drivers? please someone help!
Who games w/o music or something anyway? I rather have a loud fan going in the back then shitty graphics and peace. Plus again, who games w/o jamming out? :]
This things are crazy! I had a hard time to get one of those 8800GT, stores dont have it in stock everything is sold out!Looks like everyone got it. I had to work in Alabama to get some money so I can afford the 8800GT. And then I had another problem, there is no 8800GT in stores the gamers just wiped all out. And the prices had to jump up from 260 up to 330 bucks. LOOOL
I have a Regular Gainward 8800 GT at stock speeds and stock cooler. I have it all the time at 50% fan speed when at idle and get around 49-51 C temps, but when I get into a game, I crank it up to 90%. It never speeds up on its own. Without doing so, the temps well exceed 75C, but when putting it on 90% it never exceeds 65%.
Even though loud, I think the stock cooler is pretty effective at higher speeds.
is that this software that came with it? were you able to increase the fan speed with something you downloaded online or was the the software that came with it?

Hmm, is this eVGA e-Geforce Superclocked edition? Cause in that case, yah, waste of money when you could've gotten the PNY XLR8 8800 GT version which is much quieter and runs smoother for the same price. Buying a factory overclocked graphics card should never be a first resort anyway. They usually are very hot and sketchy because well.. The graphics card is ran at it's max... Never good.
YOu're soundcar or whatever is to close to you're 8800GT. Try to put it in a other slot because you're 8800GT can't suck really good now:P (sounds weird =)
depends on the res..and unless you are running 800x600 u cant do all very high settings...still all high @ 1280x1024 is smooth and still looks awsome :)
Too bad you can't put the Thermaltake Duorb on it... unless you can put the Duorb on an 8600 GTS? Because I hear that 8800GT is compatible with all 8600 aftermarket coolers.

I dont see a prob...so get a better cooler.
Easy.

could you send me a link of such a cooler? because i'm considering buying two 8800GT's for SLI... but i hate that noise! arrgg!
The motherboard on witch i want to to install the two cards, has two 16x PCI slots ( is that enough for the cooler? )
Do i have to completely shut down the coolers on the cards themself? or just to a less noise level? ( like 30% or so )
Thanks in advance ;p

I can put it on but I don't really feel like unscrewing my brand new card and doing something that may ruin it, I'll probably do it in a month

Too bad you can't put the Thermaltake Duorb on it... unless you can put the Duorb on an 8600 GTS? Because I hear that 8800GT is compatible with all 8600 aftermarket coolers.
