I dont like being normal. dark emotions are a part of life. I recently got divorced and I find my mind suddenly thinking about the past and the sadness. then I just let it circulate and let it disparate
I have often felt the same way in terms of being honest and expressive and my friends criticizing me for it. In particular my Buddhist friend would constantly remind me to control my emotions. And while that can be helpful, I believe it is not (and sorry men but I dont know how this is for you but I can only speak for women) in a woman's nature. All emotions are natural and while we should deal with them responsibly, it is delusional to control them constantly.
No. You musn't. However, why fault those who choose to be? Life is what we make of it. Yes, we all experience negative emotions, it's part of the human experience - it's what we do about them that matters.
3) I would never judge you or anyone else for their seemingly "darker" comments. Please do not be offended if I sign off my posts w/ L&L though. It is not to rub you or anyone else the wrong.way it is merely me seeking my own balance level like oil to water. Blessings!
2) I aspire to connect w/the Love & more Light corners (however difficult they may be to find) of my mind & life that seem to be a lot harder to attain these days. I will tell you though, I don't even remember the expression fluffy bunny when I was first led to this path 36 years ago. Live & Let Live, Harm None.
1) I understand both the dark & light. I have been saying L&L since I was a child. But from where I sit, I am actually finding Love & Light seems to suddenly be taboo and not the other way around. Yes of course balance is important just like in light & dark, yin & yang, seasons go from one extreme to the other. We should all be able to seek our own levels as needed.
But when I find I am overun w/dark days in my life (which frankly I am so tired of being immersed into and which there are plenty)
This Wiccan Rede that you cited is part of what I see as wrong with a lot of contemporary Wicca. Things getting reworded and then as a result, being misunderstood.
It was originally expressed as "An it harm none, do what ye will." Which says that you can do what you want if it isn't hurting anyone. There is no statement of how to act if harm is necessary. "Do what thou wilt, harm ye none" gives the statement of do what you like but don't harm anyone.
I DON'T want to be a 'fluffy witch' either XP but that being said I don't want to be an entirely wicked bitch that gets pissed off throwing hexes at anyone who crosses my path either, although I am inherently just a bit more wicked than most. I see where you're going though and I totally understand it, actually makes me want to vent out my anger and frustrations through the craft in a channeled spell to cleanse myself of such energy and at the same time do something useful with it.
LOL, oh for gods sakes, we're witches we're not suppose to be normal, and following the norm, and doing what everybody else is doing, if we really want to do that we would just join a church.
Witches embrace the dark side, witches get angry, and when witches get cornered, we aren't hesitant to do some not very "nice" things to protect ourselves and those we value. Love your video, and you should totally channel that negativity in a productive work, if your Wiccan, a banishing anyone
I so see your point, but honestly, I don't think a fluffy witch means you're happy all the time. My impression is that humans have a complex system of emotions- we all have bad days, we all stub our toes and swear, we all break wind at inopportune times (no? just me? ok!) But whether or not we choose to use our abilities because of a bad day or because of rational thought (not saying "good" or "bad" magic) is what is key.
It's impossible to be 100% happy and positive all the time, just like it's impossible to be 100% negative all the time. Just because someone is feeling negative frequently doesn't mean they're always negative. There are people that I would classify as negative, but I could never see these people raiding a village and slaughtering babies. Just as I've never met a person who's so selfless that they would give away all of their possessions and be homeless themselves.
I agree. The feelings we have of sadness, fear, anger, etc are a part of human nature. If you are someone that respects nature you accept and embrace the reality of all aspects of nature. Nature isn't all rainbows and bunnies. To deny negative feelings is to deny one's nature. Everything in the natural world has an opposite. Where there is life there is death. Where there is happiness there is sadness. You cannot be one who is truly with nature until you can embrace all of her. Blessed be.
Your right. We have two sides , We walk on two legs and balance one to the other, I need both sides. ref: "Stairway to heaven." As we wind on down the road. Great topic. Stay strong. Blessed be.
Although I am not into Wicca, your advice opinions are very solid and healthy. Let's put it this way........'Your real". You can tell that you do a lot of self reflection based in honesty as your premise. Thanks for breaking stereo-types!

Hey just wondering if you have any advice on how I (or others) could express my darker side without being spiritually/energetically aggressive towards others?
you have a right to post what you feel, I believe its healthy to express yourself rather its positive or negative nobody walks around 24/7 in a positive light. I love your videos, I dont post much but I watch all the time but this video I had to put my two cents in :) what I love is that you're real and not fluffy. Blessings 2 u sister witch!
I know what you mean, I am NOT positive all the time, I have a dark side too and it is a part of me as we all have one and we should not allway's be concerned with getting rid of it, that is not healthy :-) BB
Great video! I believe that we don't always have to be all happy go lucky, but some people just don't wish to express negativity while others do, while others are comfortable with expressing negativity. I am personally not comfortable showing my negative side, but I do have one and I don't deny it. I think an excess of either positiveness or negativity can be bad, but then again we can't judge someone by their videos alone. As to your question of invoking the dark goddess, Hekate is my matron.:)
I think it's all on how you express negativity.....if you are agressive then you may be hurting people same if you are passive or passive agressive. Being assertive is dealing with things in a healthy way. We are only human but evolving.
Hi. I believe that either positive or negative, we have to take responsibility for how we allow our energies to take shape. I work with kids who have scary backstories. They often have emotional issues which continue to define them and their life perspectives. I think that finding a balance and control over our negative feelings means finding an acceptable way of expressing ourselves. Sometimes we just need to know we've been heard and respected. You have every right to defluff now and again. :)
Point well made, its funny how people always are keen to embrace a sanitised version of things! I think with anything, its healthy to look at something from all sides in order to get an objective well informed balanced view, otherwise you can end up losing out, the negative has as much to teach us as the positive, this is something experience in general teaches us on a daily basis... just my thoughts x
I also don't believe in the term fluffy or flaky bunny/witch all because to me it is name calling Those so called fluffy bunnies ect.. If they want to be that way then fine so be it. People should leave them be and there should be no name for them. I find that its a low in our paganism to categorize people and make them feel like outcasts or wrong in their own path. Makes us sound somewhat christian. If it works for them then it should be ok.I want to make vids but each time I try crap happens.

I could not have said it better! I tried countless times to make a video similar. I do agree totally with you I agree to express our selves freely but not if your going to bully or call people names while being pagan. It is ok to have our own opinions and clash. That is all part of the balance. Though I do not like to have any negative thoughts or energies around me when I work but on a daily basis they are everywhere and people need to accept it and not ignore it.
i practice wicca, and i hate how a lot who are wiccans think that we can only allow the positive in. i believe in achieving balance, i think that means acknowledging the good and the bad, the positive and the negative. otherwise i think you're just being fake and it's not healthy to not accept both. love your vids!! <3
Love this video and you Sam is so right you look beautiful ma'am. I ended up making a VR to her fluff n stuff video, but I mentioned you in it as well because I know you were the first to bring up the subject.
Love this video and you Sam is so right you look beautiful ma'am. I ended up making a VR to her fluff n stuff video, but I mentioned you in it as well because I know you were the first to bring up the subject.
Great vid! I identify as Wiccan b/c my beliefs are in line with Trad Wicca. However, Wicca has taken a New Age turn and the fluff factor has gone up, and it's getting harder to call myself Wiccan because people take it to mean the New Age Fluff, but once I tell them I'm more Trad based, then they look at me like I have a stick up my butt!
I guess we have different perceptions of the YT community b/c I see a lot of people doing shadow work exploration, being honest about their range of emotions in vlogs, tackling issues like hexes and talking about problems/challenges in their practices. I simply haven't seen how the community apparently lacks individuality, creativity in topics, expression of negativity, etc. I am not saying you are wrong though. We're probably just subscribed to different people. I really like your integrity!
I think suppressing emotions causes illness its not good to bottle up. ive also met many positive people who are passive aggressive and seem to get quiet angry when after they tell you that your a bad person for showing emotion you tell them im your reflection :P they like to use that word a lot but not it being used against them...i think they like to look at others paths than their own thats why they have such a problem with others emotions cause they cant deal and acknowledge their own....
I, too, think that you can't always be positive and light/love and all that jazz. half the time, I'm a cynic about everything and have a lot of negative thoughts on many issues. I'm not ashamed of being cynical and skeptical and all; I embrace it. Keeps me in check--keeps me balanced, really.
in regards to invoking the dark goddess--yes! the current controversy within my circle is whether or not to allow newcomers to these rituals because it is not for the lighthearted (pun intended!) but where does one begin? the question du jour.
Without anger..how would we KNOW calm...without sadness how could we KNOW joy!!! Without pain...we would NOT KNOW comfort!! At the intersection of 2 becoming One it is ALWAYS darkest before the Light! Stay secure in the KNOWLEDGE of who you are, keep seekin' KNOWLEDGE!!! The UNIVERSE tends to unfold as it should. Blessed Be!!! Live Long and Prosper!!! P.S. Please do not take this the wrong way...but you really ARE a beautiful person inside & out!!! ( in me book anyway!)
I also think there are many ways one could practice their neo-wicca, since they're only taking the outer court material and making what they will of it. I have heard some traditional wiccans express distaste for neo-wiccans at how literal they take the rede and the charge of the goddess. From what non-initiates know, there is a balance of things, but it's hard to say that Wicca is this or that beyond a certain point when you're not privy to their oathbound material.
totally agree....also one of the reasons why I don't call myself wiccan. There has to be balance between the light and dark within us all. If we are all "love and light" there can't be any balance. <3
Yeah, we're humans, not robots. We feel the entire spectrum of emotions. If someone doesn't, it usually means something is wrong with that person. Though, I do feel it's a show of poor character to seethe over everything. It's healthy to employ tools to be able to bounce back from negativity, not just wear a mask over the upset. I don't feel thus far that you "seethe" over anything in an unhealthy way.
Great video! I agree. I am not a happy person 24/7. I am a just a real person dealing with real issues and they are not always fun. But that is part of life. I deal with it and move on.
Have you ever considered writing your own book about witchcraft and magic? If you ever did I’d love to read it. I love your honesty and how you perceive things. It’s very refreshing.
I agree with you on the points you brought up. There is a dark and light aspect to everything in life and maintaining a balance of both is important, one should not forsake one for another. I hate it when some people sugar coat things and over focus on the “lighter side” of wicca/witchcraft and at the same time try to make others feel that they must repress the “darker” aspects of themselves whether it’s with magic/ritual or other mundane things.
Thank you so much for bringing up such a great point. This reminds us that we are human and it is OKAY to feel and express emotion.
Ellen Dugan, The Garden Witch just posted a fantastic blog about anger and negativity. I think you're right negativity is becoming taboo. Feeling anger is a fact of life. How we cope with it is crucial.
There is also a great book called Pagan Anger Magic by Tammy Sullivan that gives bundles of advice and teaching for channeling our anger and rage.
I think it is important to express and even embrace our negative emotions, no matter the path you follow. I think for those who follow the lighter side, embracing and understanding your negative side should actually make it more enlightening, real and powerful to work with the positive energies, because you can feel the contrast. If you don't understand your negative self, how can you understand and use your positive self to the fullest? How can you be sure you are as positive as you can be?
I have never been a "happy-go-lucky" person and I never could understand how so many can appear to be that way. I find it very odd that expressing ones emotions like, anger, sadness, and shame can be considered bad or harmful. It is natural to feel various emotions from happiness to depression. These emotions and tendencies are to be learned from; looking within yourself to find the real cause of the problem or issue. So many forget that the Light came out of the Darkness.
@OtherGonzo LOL I think you misunderstand, I am speaking of trolls, those looking to purposely cause arguments, I do not condone this, however I am always happy to have a healthy debate ;)
I totally agree...you need balance in your life and that means you should accept all emotions, regardless of whether they are positive or negative. Dwelling on those emotions for extended periods, I think, is what isn't healthy. Feel it, accept it, let it go. Just my opinion. :o)
Bunnies belong in the stew pot.Cannot have one side without the other. Failing to embrace your darker self is foolish. You cannot know yourself completely by avoiding it.The basic things people forget are the most important.KNOW THYSELF, know thy craft.I refuse to candy coat life for the weak minded individuals.Life isn't all love and light. What I find is that this fluffy attitude is held by people who are only Pagan online. Its clear to me that they do not have experiences in the public community
It IS becoming taboo to express "darker" emotions. People think I'm a ball of light and happiness all the time but that is simply NOT the case. I get angry, I don't like some people, I get depression etc. I have negative emotions just as much as positive emotions. We all do. I am favoriting this video.
I don't think that Love, Light & Happiness equate FLUFFY. If it's authentic, it's often the genuine result of doing a lot of deep emotional & psychological work, coming to grips with one's shadows, forgiving the past & being present in the moment. Of course, demanding that of yourself that 24-7 can lead to frustration, but there are people who are full of light & love, sincerely HAPPY people who also take their lives & spirituality seriously. In fact, that's probably how they got that way :O)
It's not just among witches, it's the wider society. There is a cult of 'positive thinking' that unfortunately gets twisted to, never say anything that can be perceived as negative. Never say 'no'.
I have been battling "depression" as well as other negative issues in my life. I found that no matter what I tried to talk about topic wise on my channel it came across as negative, I would not post because the "Pissing and Moaning" tone would be in my voice. I would watch myself becoming more and more sarcastic and/or sorrowful. So I stopped posting videos. About Anything......
Thank you for making this. And for keeping REAL. )O(
Not a negative comment, please don't flame me lol, but I just about got the gist of this video, but the wind kept cutting out the mic, as you were speaking.
Thank you for making this video, maybe I will make more video now. It really is hard to be fluffy all the time. Yes I love fluffy and I really try but it just is not always me. Blessed Be )O(
I'm a Wiccan, and I get what you're saying, I've noticed it too. Like you said, we all have emotions - it's a human thing. I get annoyed at the general consensus that does surround Wiccans too.
@midnightmist1967 yes, and this is what I mean, it is not taboo to express negative emotions and I believe too many are simply lacking the education to know better :)
totally agree! I am a person who is one for balance. I do have more pissed off days majority of the time lol but I try to encourage the happy days to help me stay balanced hahaha
After all the world is beautiful but she is always destructive when she gets pissed off... take tornados and earthquakes.... would they tell the world to stop being negative when she has people destroying her life?
I so have to make a VR to this! I get comments all the time about how I can't be s witch and be negative about anything...it's called being human...having balance which is much of what the Pagan path is based on. Though we don't see eye to eye on everything, we are quite a bit alike in the sense were not going to apologize for bring human...
@WitchontheRocks The more I watch your vids, I think we VERY much alike LOL we simply have some different view point :) Both of witch are totally valid
MY GOD, how you are right!!! I honestly wish that I had a book wrote by you when I started my practice! HAHA!!! Blessed Be and thanks for the great video. :)
So true. I think it's sad that people are litteraly running away from their "shadow side". You have to embrace the dark things that we put away in our subconscousness. Dark days of the soul are necessay for us to grow. Can't stand that hypocricy and running away in "Love and Light". Sure it's our goal to get there, but only after dealing with the negativity, which is just a normal part of us, of Nature.
I dont like being normal. dark emotions are a part of life. I recently got divorced and I find my mind suddenly thinking about the past and the sadness. then I just let it circulate and let it disparate

MephistophelesMyLord 1 month ago
totally agree....also one of the reasons why I don't call myself wiccan.

RoyalAssassin178 1 month ago
I agree with you on the points you brought up. There is a dark and light aspect to everything in life and maintaining a balance of both is important, one should not forsake one for another. I hate it when some people sugar coat things and over focus on the “lighter side” of wicca/witchcraft and at the same time try to make others feel that they must repress the “darker” aspects of themselves whether it’s with magic/ritual or other mundane things.
RoyalAssassin178 1 month ago

BekahRebel3 1 month ago
I have never been a "happy-go-lucky" person and I never could understand how so many can appear to be that way. I find it very odd that expressing ones emotions like, anger, sadness, and shame can be considered bad or harmful. It is natural to feel various emotions from happiness to depression. These emotions and tendencies are to be learned from; looking within yourself to find the real cause of the problem or issue. So many forget that the Light came out of the Darkness.

You sound a bit contradictory when you do a video talking about expressing your negative feelings and then say you don't want negative comments.
Over all, My advice if you don't want to do videos on topics everyone is covering, then don't. I would love to see more topics covered.

And for keeping REAL. )O(

I'm a Wiccan, and I get what you're saying, I've noticed it too. Like you said, we all have emotions - it's a human thing. I get annoyed at the general consensus that does surround Wiccans too.

I so have to make a VR to this! I get comments all the time about how I can't be s witch and be negative about anything...it's called being human...having balance which is much of what the Pagan path is based on. Though we don't see eye to eye on everything, we are quite a bit alike in the sense were not going to apologize for bring human...
