Thank you sir. appreciate your kind feedback. i am not sure what to do right now. I have 115K miles on my 2005 base camry. been using dino natural conventional oil since day one. should i now swtich to a syn-blend or full syn?
@Rico8458 You don't have to change if you don't want to. If you've been practicing the 3 or 3 rule, you should be fine. We have customers with over 160K still using conventional and once in a while we'll add an additive. The most important thing is to use a really quality oil filter. That's where you get the best protection.
Apparently, oil problems for the Avalon are many. I'd like to hear from those who have had sludge in their Avalons. This problem is still occurring in later model Toyotas. Toyota has really kept this matter quiet and continued to BLAME the vehicle owners instead. MORE needs to be said about it now in light of how Toyota is treating is customers.
My Toyota engine oil sludge video gets a lot of traffic from this one. Interestingly enough, many sludge victims have their oil lost in the blink of an eye while highway driving. This continues to be a mystery in the sludge phenomenon.
I forgot, I also wanted to add that this problem affects the 2007 Lexus RX350. My girlfriend drove home and on the way home her engine just dropped 5 quarts of oil all over the road.
My 2005 just blew this same line. Called Toyota and they said tough luck its not a problem!? Costs 450 to fix and I was lucky that it didn't fry the thead. Next time it will be a Honda! I wish NHTSA would bust them on this one BEFORE somebody catches one on fire. Toyota clearly lives on the reputation of the older models.
That stinks. Toyota should be held to the same levels as the others. Just like the floor mat fiasco, a complete recall should be administered. Thanks for sharing - Greg
Any car manufactured from April 2008 forward has a new all metal oil line. There is a TSB for Avalons. This actually affects all Toyota models with the V6 engine 2GR-FE
my 2006 avalon with 44,000 miles had same problem. my ac light flickered, then check engine light came on followed by oil lamp flickering on and off. Drove straight to dealer and had 1 qt oil left in engine. I hope I didnt ruin my engine. This is happening all over the country and toyota should have sent out a recall. I am hoping all is under warrenty
I agree. If this was a BIG 3 problem, the press would've been having a field day. Toyota needs to announce this as a recall. No questions asked. - Greg
I had the same problem just yesterday in my 2006 Avalon XL, after checking in the internet I found it's porblem with avalon 05-06 models, the car suddnley lost 2.5 leters of oil while driving, thank god I noticed it before it could damage the engine.
Is this hose also refered as "oil cooler lines"?

genuine toyota motor oil is made by whom? and is it synthetic? what oil did the factory put inside my 2005 camry 2.4L, 4-cyl ,2A2-FE engine?

@Rico8458 Toyota motor oil is manufactured by Exxon/Mobil. You probably received standard (natural) grade oil from the factory. Thanks for watching!
