  • Watch and learn kids: THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A MOVIE!

  • looks like gaza

  • I heard this movie was bad but this was pretty epic

  • @lgonggr What fucker said this movie was bad? the type of people who spend theyre money watching trash like epic movie to then give them more money to make more horrible films.. this movie is a masterpiece and not only because of the direction .. the scene were they have to escape from the barn into the car is so tense its unreal , incredible movie.

  • Follow Freeman

  • @VinceM51 thats what I was thinking

  • one take. legend!

  • Notive how the hero never picks up a weapon.

  • Looks like London at the moment

  • @MysterySparkStudios YOU.... FUCKING.... LEGEND LOL!!!!!!

  • At 04:07 was that a scene cut? coz the blood on the camera lens magicly disapears lol

  • @bisckut its was digitally removed because the director felt it got distracting after awhile

  • intense and realistic scene. reminds me of the pianist when spilzman is trying to escape his apartment.

  • See. THAT's how you use handeld camera!

  • No sense to make a Half Life movie, this scene fits perfectly with the uprisig of City 17

  • Hand held footage is the best. Makes everything so much dynamic.

  • 7:00 theo got shot by a burst of 5.56, and he's still running? not realistic there...

  • @HiredForLife24 that's why in Afghanistan 7,62 NATO is becoming more popular. There were situations when rebelian fell after about 10 rounds.

  • @HiredForLife24 5.56 is shit, american military often make comments about shooting somebody with it and not bringing them down....

  • Increíble escena...y sin cortes..bueno hasta el minuto 4:20"...hay la sangre se borra del lente de la cámara.

  • NEWSFLASH: KILLING EACH OTHER ENSURES HUMANITY'S SURVIVAL!

  • i really dont understand where does the dislikes come from in some of the videos on youtube..some people just want the intire earth to be destroyed..if i was the cia i would be taping this dislikes on youtube videos and not the phons of everyones house

  • you cut out the best part at the end

  • This seems to be a viable view of what England might look like in 15 or 20 years, considering the uncontrolable immigration rate and the rise of social unrest going on right now. Now I know the context of natality is different, but excluding that factor, this scene can be considered as a viable vision of a near future England if things keep deteriorating like this.

  • @sumerian88 try a near future vision of the world in 15-20 years sumerian :/

  • @0Petercool0

    Your point being?

15-20 years is very short. It goes faster than you might expect.

  • @sumerian88 fair enough, but the way things are going i this world at the moment, the future outcome is (in my opinion) horrifying

  • @sumerian88 Not even close.

  • @TwilightCodex Please enlighten me.

  • Best action scene ever!

  • This reminds me about whats going on in Eygpt right now

  • Is the geordie singing Blaydon Races? I still can't tell despite watchin it about ten times.

  • Best uncut scene ever? Yes indeed.

  • The reason why cuaron was able to "redefine" the meaning of dystopia, is because the plot of the movie has a possibility of happening. The way he shot and directed the film didnt shock you in a way like soylent green, he made you slowly accept the fact that infertility can happen.

  • @stonemonkey999 Grow some balls, fuckwad.

  • Is the baby made by cg?

  • so much action in 7mins 36 secs.....loved it

  • That whole Movie was a Masterpiece :D

  • Love this scene! :D

  • this movie is the bomb like when the fishes shot his wife and when the main guy hit the the guy who was about to snitch on them wif the computer monitor.. it funni when the black lady was thinking about naming the baby like bazooka

  • @rap7x when she named her baby bazooka i was like wat the fuck

  • Interesting fact, the "Fish" with dreadlocks is Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy.

    The more you know.

  • THE most enthralling Action sequence of all time!! Believe me!!

  • I don't understand why they kill the civilians bearing white flag at 3:43

  • I believe they cut one time, 4:18, the blood form the camera is wiped, just when it looks up and sees the stairs, well it´s an amazing scene form one of my favorite movies anyway, love the documentary approach Lubezki and Cuaron achieved.

  • @jaimemarquezin they don't cut it, my friend. It was digitally removed on post-production because Cuarón decided it eventually became distracting to the spectator =)

  • @Mamsecks I see, just saying the scene was shot several times, and then edited, there is no way you can film such a long choreography with so many special effects as a single sequence shot !

  • I love the little details in this film such as the London 2012 jumper Theo is wearing and the ringing nose you hear at 4:00

  • some people have been saying that this wasnt one take as the blood disappeared halfway through the scene. the blood came from one of the stuntmen (clearly it wasnt real blood) but they decided to keep it in to add to the realism. it was digitally removed frame by frame later on as it was too distracting but the blood you see on the camera would have been there the whole time, just thought id clear it up :)

  • @scerpalman1 Actually, that's not correct. This was indeed shot in multiple takes, though all still a one shot like you see here, they didn't just rehearse and then film and that's it in one shot. The car scene is a good example, though it's 'one' shot, it consists of about 7 individual parts merged together in such a way that they pick up right where the other shot needed some improvement. It was indeed shot completely in one go, just they filmed it at least 10+ times. ^_^

  • @PirateDiana oh cool, didnt know that haha, my bad, cheers for that though, such a great film

  • @scerpalman1 No sweat, I wouldn't have known it either had I not been in class where they talked about it. Though as a camera operator in training, I would have still been saying they wouldn't have edited all of that out (I mean... that's a lot of film to edit O.o' especially manually)

  • Not only the filming is brilliant, but I'm always astonish how filmmakers manage to make such a realistic environment. Great craftmanship indeed.

  • Welcome to UK!

  • Take a good hard look, that's the UK in ten years...

  • @FractalBolt you fucking moron

  • @FractalBolt nah, its china in 1 minute!....lame!

  • @FractalBolt its just a film for christs sake

  • @FractalBolt 18 yrs without childbirth would actually do the planet a lot of good in the longterm.

  • When I see reports on the news of fighting in cities, I think of this scene. It makes me feel I have a very slightly better understanding of what soldiers and civillians caught up this hell must have to endure. That is something no news footage has ever been able to do.

  • >>This clip is amazing I show it in my Film Appreciation class to teach my students about cinematography.

  • this part of the soundtrack sound like the shinning, yeah!

  • penderecki

  • the egypsian lady have a good luck!

  • Comment removed

  • I live in Bexhill where this is taking place, so its kinda weird

  • I haven't seen this movie, but this is the best tracking shot I've seen.... ever. I'm definitely renting this.

  • 4:05 is a comped transition

  • my fav part in the movie it feels like ur wit them i love it

  • 0:49 why did dreadlock guy hit him?

  • @762full Watch the movie.

  • @unfunny12 Its not posted

  • saving private ryan had shots like this all over, but doesn't compare to this.

  • that thew kid one day brings piece

  • oh and the question about weapons. you wouldnt think but i think his weapon is the baby and the woman carying it . he thinks

  • this was on tv yesterday here but only watched this part tough next time its on i watch the whole movie

  • This film style is amazing. More movies should be filmed in this method to captivate struggle and survival.

  • What do you mean war is not natural of course it is. Every other animal is kept from overpopulating by the food chain. But we are the top of the food chain so how does nature keep us from over populating it places that love of war and violence in our heads

  • One thingI noticed is that the one-legged guy from the market scene is there, he's the onbe who led the Fishes to them. The really fun detail is that he(while laughing at the execution) is shot in his remaining leg. :P

  • Did the dreadlocks guy get shot? Its kind of hard to tell but i hope he did. he was a dick. Oh, and as well, does theo get shot by the black dude at the end of the scene or some other guy? And a couple more questions for people whove seen the whole film: Why doesnt the gypsy lady get on the boat, why do they want theo and julia dead in the first place and surely they would have some new guns by 2027; i could recognise ssome guns that are old now!

  • @mike261265 AK47 is over 60 years old and still in action. Colt m1911 is almost 100 years old and people use it. Why should they not use them in 17 years? They work!

  • @mike261265

why build new weapons if there'd be no one to use them?

and even the weapons from thirty years ago deliver their cause in a very effective way, everything else is just some gimmick shit.

  • Holy shit!

  • I hate that braid haired guy. This somewhat reminds me of the war in Iraq. The only "good guys" are the citizens trying to escape gunfire. They can't go to the Iraqi army because they'll shoot them. if they go to the Americans, they'll shoot them. War sucks.

War games are entertaining though =D

  • Half Life² has an insurrection that is also referred to as "The Uprising".

  • Julian was not wrong.

    She was right.

  • 5:21 you can see earplugs in theos ears

  • what?

  • they forgot to take out the earplugs/digitally remove the earplugs in theo's (clive owen's) ears at 5:21

  • tbf mate guns are pretty loud (:

  • na man not saying this movies bad its one of my favorite but just thought id point that out found it on imdb kinda interesting lol

  • This is just like the openening scenes of "1984", except that this time the criminals are losing the war. Great movie!!!!

  • That was one of the most shocking movie scenes I've ever seen. Mostly because of absolute lack of hollywood-like hero scenes. Just horryfying brutality and piercing reality of war chaos and human ruthless.

  • I love the use of the synth score. IT is amazing.

  • this scene was as frightening as a nightmare to me. truly amazing movie

  • I remember this... great film! :OD

  • Just seen this movie, there's so many incredible one shot moments. Beautifully done and a really great vision of the future. The scary thing is that a lot of it could actually happen.

  • The immersive tracking shots are really what made this moving so awesome. It's an under-utilized technique in movie making.

  • My only regret in this film& probably in the novel,is that Theo didn't try and grab a gun,so he could have killed those two pricks Luke and Patric. The Scottish guard, had a pistol on him.Theo could have taken& Theo nearly lived, but was shot. One of the saddest endings of a film, that I've ever seen.

  • you've missed the one of the most important facts of the movie: the hero never grabs a gun.

  • @MDstuka I noticed this. There were quite a few points where I felt instinctively that I would have picked one up had I been in the same situation. I really appreciated this theme of non-violence. This film was truly a masterpiece!

  • @MDstuka amazing thing not to notice, huh?

  • @MDstuka fuck it theo doesn´t need guns, he just needs a car door

  • GOD DAMN IT! I haven't seen this movie yet, and now you just ruined the ending

  • @MarineAqua45

I think this is the greatest strenght of the film. Theo not using guns conveys a very clear message and characterizes him better than any explanation.

  • @MarineAqua45

Because if he hadn't been a pacifist, and hadn't died... then it would kill the biblical theme going throughout... the rebels are called the "Fishes" etc. etc. check how much the animals like Theo... he's Jesus.

  • .this is really amazing you nether root for the 'freedom' fighters or the British army.

Just clinical killing from the British and an almost pointless loss of life due to the freedom fighters acts of violence.

still my fav part is 3:50-3:59

  • mate its a film calm down.

  • yes i understand it's a movie and I am calm........ I'm i not allowed to express my opinion?

  • lol yeah you can just saying, say what you want mate...

and its good that we aint getting into a stupid argument btw..,.

  • makes a change from the norm

  • Why the rebels kill the arab guy?!

  • because he can. He was going to kill Theo and the foreign lady before they got interupted by people firing on them.

  • @ImperialGuard9001 because this rebel is a bitch!

  • One of best action scenes...

  • Imagine how much effort it took to do a single 6-minute shot with all those things going on, just WOW.

And it's so realistic and immersive, shits all over Hollywood

  • @Knackerer Its not all 1 shot when something like a bomb blast or a person walks in front of the lens it cuts away. Its in an interview with the director. Still a magnificent shot.

  • @Knackerer Don;t get me wrong I love the film and think Caurons long shots are the best but this shot was cut around 4:06 when the screen becomes dark and about 10 seconds later the blood on the lens is gone

  • @ErikHutt That's inevitable that that happened, if you look at the car scene, it looks like 1 shot as well unless you pay attention. From the information I heard of my teachers, that 'one' shot is actually a compilation of around 7 shots, just simply done every time again (like, they had what, 30+ times the same take just to get the right ones)

  • @Knackerer it is indeed an amazing scene, i love this movie. but it has to be recognized that it's not a single shot. its multiple shots blended with amazing skills in post-production

  • One of the best movie scenes (de la mejores escenas del cine que he visto)

  • can someone please describe me what is happening in this scene?

  • It´s the uprising in the RefugeeCamp Bexhill...They try to get to the boat for leaving the camp and to get to the "Tomorrow", a Rescueship of the Human Project...

  • Comment removed

  • haii ^^....i was wondering if you would tell me what is happening in this seen and describe it? im asking on behalf of my assignment on comtech =D ...

    pls reply asap

    i greatly appreciate it ^^

  • you get to do an assignment on THIS movie? wow... lucky bugger, if only this movie was out while i was at school lol

  • Also, sorry didn't read other posts about it first!

  • But yeah, awesome!

  • If there was no cut then how was the blood wiped off the lens without us seeing any wiping?

  • Digitally removed.

  • quality film, set mustve took some setting up!

  • moiphx2 that wasnt a cut it was sfx blood

  • This scene is the longest take in movie history. That means a scene whith same camera witou scene chainging. It all was made by a hand held camera as you see and well, thats from my point of wiew a new generation of movies.

  • Not quite true. There are several instances of cutting. It's simply done so well that it's hard to notice. Watch how the blood splatter first changes shape when Theo enters the apartment block, then disappears entirely as he heads up the stairs. It's still a hell of an achievement, though.

If you're a bit of a film nerd like me, check out New Wave films, which pretty much pioneered the technique.

  • nop, I saw interview, no cut at all

  • Dude, trust me, there was a cut. Check the wikipedia page.

  • but still that whole first half of the combat- ONE take, is still a great job :D

  • Yeah, I'll also check wikipedia on how to do open heart surgery.

  • one of the best scenes from the movie children of men fantastically shot with hand held camera

  • lol "you little kids are so gay get a life"? that sort of comment puts you in the same age range as the people you're trying to insult. not to mention that being 16 doesn't put you in any position to call someone who's older than you a little kid buddy :)

  • Age is a matter of feeling, not years.

  • does this remind anyone of call of duty at all, minus the civs lol

  • NO FFS why does everything to do with conflict always go back to call of duty 4 you little kids are so gay get a life

  • Comment removed

  • when I've seen this movie , i thought of Resident evil , and how its movie would've been great if made in children of men style ... Great scene

  • I'm not so sure that it's all done in one take. when the camera pans upward at 4:17-4:20, the blood on the lens vanishes

  • I might agree with you. It's an old movie trick to make the scene more impressive with its "one-shot, one-take" effect. They didn't do a good job of going through it unnoticed.

  • The blood was digitally removed from the lens for the remainder of the scene.

  • Ah right, thanks

  • haha, come to think of it this kinda looks like the east side of london, or is to come

    5*

  • esta escena es impresionante!

  • Very good movie and this scene is great. I love this extra long one shto scenes like here or in Atonement ;)

  • This is just like Warshaw uprising 1943.

  • May be some people will try such a stuipd uprising soon. People like extreme muslims in London.

  • exactly

  • Wth, is this real happend ?

  • are you stupid?

  • Are you a son of a bitch ?

on the comment im just kidding , -.-

  • ok xD

but don't call me son of a bitch...

  • ok , if you don't call me stupid ...

  • i dont think you guys are getting the point the films about a virus that stop women from being fertile which stop em from being pregnant and people start to panic but britain could hold it together. andas britain was free of complete anarchy loads of imigrints came in. and britain was turned into a police state

  • Its funny how the terrorists with their AK's think they can stop the British Army, who have tanks, land rovers with 50 cals and helicopters. I know its just a distraction so that the Fishes get the baby. One of the best films.

  • by that logic the british army should have wiped out the talibans in afghanistan but those pesky afghans with ak47s are giving our boys a good fight. It's not all about weapons. This is one of my favourite films.

  • I think it's supposed to represent both sides wasting time and resources on an absolutely pointless venture.

The terrorists don't think they can do anything, they're just desperate. And in there desperation they've decided the best recourse is violence.

  • absolutely love this scene, its my favourite movie of all time so far.

shows how real war is, and how easy it is to be killed in an instant

  • this all will probably happen the british government oppressing immergrants, haha 30 yrs or so, maybe 10. im british and i know it will happen.

  • yeah i know this film is so depressing because it feels all too real and true

  • notice now we have a flu pandemic..... like stated on the movie... hmmmmm lol

  • god i feel proud to be british right now!!! lol

  • call me fascist but... deep down, i was hoping the british troops would be successful in flushing out the fishes.

  • yeah so was i tbh loool

  • makes me proud to be british. lol

  • wish it was like this so we can fuck the fugees up
