Nice video. Music makes it somewhat depressing. Maybe do a remix with some CCR or something similar to get the blood pumping in the drag racing spirit???
i owned the white coupe with the blue stripes after it retired for about 10 years it went upstate ny now somewhere about 3 years ago i found it with a dog tied to it at a gas station in bear creek // it was a hand full, with a chevy 327 in it
That was the thing about the 60's. Run what ya' brung, heads up, and everybody in each class had a chance. In my Dad's case he was driving the family car.
Drag racing has changed little. They've added Bracket Racing and still, after all these years, anybody can go racing.
390 with an Auto trans and 4 barrel. The only mods to the car were a mild cam and he swapped his rear end gears on race day. He had an open diff and would run a slightly deflated snow tire on one side.
He was running 12's.
My mom had an encounter with a coal truck and totaled the car.
Hey, this was cool! What kind of eng. and tranny was your Dad's Ford running? Also, what kind of times was he turning with that car? My guess was it was maybe a 352 or a 390...maybe with 3 deuces? Thanks for converting and posting this. Joel in Tucson
@crownv80 Chevy had a 396 in '65, GM had a ban on engine displacement no more than 400 c.i. In 1966 it was changed...hence the 427 cars. Don't forget the 265 V-8...
Just got home from the reunion.. though i am only 29.. my parents and alot of there friends raced there.. it was amazing to see the track and its surroundings.. If only that place could talk.. Id listen til my ears bled.. awesome vid..
Excellent!!! I remember the track well, and all the regulars; Jack Shaffer, Carl Brewsher, Wally Lechowski, and that`s where Joe Amato got his fever started. Hurricane Agnes closed the strip in 1972 to house residents who lost their homes in the flood.
My dad is in this video! He was searching for information about Pocono Drag Lodge and came across your video by chance. He watched it and lo and behold saw himself in it way back when he used to go to the races. You will see him on the left side of the screen on the sidelines at about 10 sec. We were all amazed! Thanks for sharing this piece of nostalgia.
I was there around 1967. Still a teen in high school. Friend of an uncle took me there. Never forget it, they had half a dozen fuel funny cars running, no guard rails, bleachers 20 feet from the track, return road right in front of the bleachers. Amazing stuff.
I too was watching video's as a way to amuse my-self and really liked the way you took the 6mm and made a dvd and of the old Ford's and Dodge's back in those days. "thank-you for producing it!"

@Midwest4x4f150 Yeah, the music sucks. I don't know how to change it. I'd love to change it to Jan and Dean, or Hot Rod Lincoln.
