  • She could probably play some AWESOME pranks on people if she wanted to.

  • What an interesting lady!

  • This is the most interesting mini-doc I've seen in a LONG time.

  • The next time you feel "annoyed" when you hear an older radio announcer, remember one thing ... you don't have to ask us to repeat ourselves.

  • man these old radio guys have such annoying voices

  • OMG!!! She's REaL???

  • To bad there isn't a PC or Mac version of Jane Barbe announcing time and temperature from one's desktop....

  • @Xerox6085I No.

  • I know that everybody loves Jane. Mary Moore moved me. I didn't know her name was Mary Moore until recently. Jane sounded to much like she was singing to me especially on the #2...and the 6 to me was spoken too hard by Jane, Mary Moore sounded like a groovy school teacher. Jane is second place to me . . . I miss them both . . . I loved those recordings . . . After school and alone, I would call locally or toll free numbers to reach recordings all over. Connecticut was the last to carry Mary.

  • Mary Moore was good too, but I liked Jane much better.

In particular, Jane Barbe's automatic intercept announcements were simply the best! The recordings heard today sound nowhere near as good as Jane's Audichron machines did.

I also like the announcer who does the automated checkout systems for Stop and Shop. The way she says, "Move your.... bananas! ... to the belt" is very much like Jane might have spoken it.

  • I prefer Mary Moore over Jane Barbe...But I prefer Jane Barbe over Pat Fleet any day. RIP Mary and Jane...
