I pondered the cables and wondered. Especially the "S" shaped pattern they take. and also that the towers were generally in the same positions as one curved ends of the cables.
Its clear to me after some thought. they are towers which were exposed to another blast.
the forces would super-heat the towers making the steal seem like string, and would quickly cool, making what would appear to be cables.

The craters are actually sink holes from old underground tests, very long time since any device was tested on surface. The buildings held siesmo devices for blast measurement 1000s of feet below. The only really interesting thing in Area 51 is the tennis court, go on Google earth and see it, only green thing for miles, You can see the court markings easily. What you are looking at is the old equipment left over from the testing the towers were linked to equipment that was buried along the bomb and would give readings through the wires to the buildings along side the crater.
