Any help will be very much appreciated.
@MrDaniel9652 deffs worth the price, you can make it sound bad ass or mellow and lovley, I managed to get one from ebay for 200$ shipped all the way from US to Australia, and loving it :)
Every one stop being twats. He is probably a better bass player than most of you who are complaining! And maybe he is saving his fingers for your mothers?
using a pick is for what kind of sound you like to get out of your bass or not. it's what you like for technique or sound not for easy way out because when you say that you can only think black or white ;)
What color is the standard Epiphone Thunderbird IV bass you are playing in this video? Is it the vintage sunburst or is the ebony black color? Also on another video you made mention you were thinking of getting the Goth T-Bird which has mahogany body. Did you ever get a Goth T-Bird and if so how do you like the sound compared to the alder wood body on standard T-Bird. Thanks.
it makes me laugh, at all the people like "real bass players dont use picks"
what a load of shit! i use a pick, purely because i find it more comfortable, and i prefer it, but then i obv dont if i want to slap, witch is something i often do. they need to learn that playing how you want, is better than playing a certain way just because you're suppose to. bass players are suppose to break to rules! just look at nikki sixx!!
hey bluegrass.... chill out. some people feel more comfortable playing with a pick. if yo don't like playing with a pick, then don't. not bad Wes. this is one of my favorite songs. its nice. ive been playing for 6 years, and i occasionally play with a pick, too. rock on.
don't listen to these people saying don't use a pick allen woody used a pick and i think he is the best bass player there ever wa, keep rockin, peace sebastian.
@bluegrasssingingman Wow man you should definitly open your mind! I can play with and without a pick! A real bass player knows when to play with our without a pick. Duff Mckagan use a pick to play this song so if he wants to get the perfect tone he needs a pick. And I must say that this tone is pretty badass.Stop saying that real basse player don't use a pick that's only bullshit!
@bluegrasssingingman Who the hell suddenly died and made you the Bass god? Like seriously...Chris Squire, Paul Mccartney, Carol Kaye,Anthony Jackson,T-Bone Wolk,Oteil Burbridge [ w- Allmans],Allan Woody,Steve Swallow; I guess you refer to them as inferior Bass players as well?
@bluegrasssingingman to you and your Paul Mccartney, and your tuesday veg. day. I say eat the biggest bloody piece of meat. Deer hunt and fish. Eat and be happy, happy, joy, joy.
@bluegrasssingingman Couple things real quick. If you think songs that are played with picks sound bad, Then you shouldn't be a fan of this song. Therfore you shouldn't even be looking it up. Also, telling someone you shouldn't play with a pick is just like telling someone you shouldn't be playing slap bass, or you shouldn't play with your fingers. I mean there are so many different styles of playing you can't just say that you shouldn't mix and match them.
@bluegrasssingingman Duff played with a pick, that doesnt make him any less talented. I do agree that you should learn how to play with your fingers though
@bluegrasssingingman You're fucking horrible retard. People play how they feel / like. There are many good bassists with pick; Rex Brown, David Ellefson, Duff McKagan (who played this song with pick.) etc. And real bass players still play how they think is funniest/best. I prefer fingers on some song pick on some and would like to learn to slap good. So fuck off with your pick hating and play better than Wes1731. Thank you.
@bluegrasssingingman Not really. Its not any easier than fingers in my opinion. Ive always played with fingers so personally im faster/more accurate on fingers. And still people play how they want to, fuck you.
@bluegrasssingingman what is wrong with the pick? helps me a lot when dealing with ver fast songs... and u get heavyer sounds for bass.. not the clean bass.. as jazz or blues :)
@bluegrasssingingman Contrary to your obviously godly musical knowledge, people do in fact play fiddle/violin with a pick sometimes and people do sometimes play banjo with a guitar pick. Deviating from standard musical thought is what makes musicians interesting.
I can play any of the songs I know on bass equally well with either fingers or pick but I choose the best sound. If you prefer convention over quality, that's good for you but don't put down others for caring about sound quality.
@bluegrasssingingman Wow, well done on totally ignoring the whole point I was making and making an extremely stupid comment. 'Cause obviously, if a classically-trained bassist plays a song with a pick, they lose the ability to play with their fingers.
FYI, I learned a few songs earlier on bass and I can play them with fingers and pick, but two of them I think sound better with pick, so I play them with a pick and play the others with fingers.
@AnCeithreMarcach What the hell does classically-trained have to do with anything.Wow you can read from a book. MMM which means most of them can't play by ear, and have no heart. Which i'll tell you, that no doubt your playing stuff wrong, mm miss print. To your ? mmm if you stop playing with your fingers all together and play with a pick . Yes you lose the ability to play with your fingers over time. You have to practice over and over again to retrain your fingers. With a pick its different.
@bluegrasssingingman WEll all I said was it takes more talent to play with your fingers. Using a pick is the easy way of playing bass, which is not a lead instrument. If people don't like what I said, tough it's the truth.
@bluegrasssingingman "Classically-trained" was an example of a skilled bassist who will obviously not lose their talent from playing one song with a pick.
And classically-trained has nothing to do with reading books, a classically-trained bassist who has been trained in classical bass-playing, obviously.

MAYBE YOU MEANT YOU JUST TOOK MUSIC LESSONS.
@bluegrasssingingman I didn't say I was a classical player nor did I say I played rock music. Learn to read.
I'm not tone deaf, on the contrary, I have relative pitch. And I finger for some songs and pick and slap for others, it means I'm able to keep well-practiced at all of them.

Further dialogue with someone of your willful ignorance is pointless. Good day, sir.

@bluegrasssingingman I'm more of a 40s man myself but that's probably not going to make a difference to you since you're about as good at reading as a blind gorilla.
@AnCeithreMarcach At lease I can play right. As far as musical knowledge, Using a pick on bass, or a five string banjo is not one. It takes no knowledge to do so. It is wrong and lazy to do so. It takes no thought ,or knowledge to play this kind of music anyways. You missed the whole point, of using a pick all together. You may claim use you one for sound. The point is people use one, because they can't play any other way. A pick on a bass is the improper way of playing a bass. Have a good life.
@bluegrasssingingman There is no improper way of expressing yourself through music i dont care what you play a pick is not lazyness a pick might feel more comfortable to someone. Not everyone has teachers to tell them whats wrong and right and music cause honestly there is no wrong or right I play guitar bass and drums
I use a pick for bass but can play wiht fingers and i prefer the sound with a pick it sounds sharper and gives it more attack.
@bluegrasssingingman Real bass player knows how to play with and without player. Don't tell me that Duff Mckagan and Jutin Chancellor aren't real bass players!
Thought it was a Gibson at first. Sweet cover, very well done. Do you find the headstock dive on this model bass to be excessive at all? Played on one once and it plays real nice, but it was a bit heavy and the neck seemed to want to go where it wanted to go (know what I mean?).

If you like rock music it is nice. Its also a bass that doesn't lose its warm sound when you play it with pick.
One of its downsides is the weight of the body.. some people say it can nosedive (no experience with it)

So do you love your Thunderbird? I have an Epiphone Body with Gibson Pickups and It sounds just as the Gibson Bodie'd bass.

Thought it was a Gibson at first. Sweet cover, very well done. Do you find the headstock dive on this model bass to be excessive at all? Played on one once and it plays real nice, but it was a bit heavy and the neck seemed to want to go where it wanted to go (know what I mean?).
Great vid, thanks for putting it up.
