Let's get a few things straight here: 1. the was not about slavery. 2. Lincoln only freed the slaves in the CSA. as a measure to slow down the south during the way. 3. Lincoln was actually in favor of slavery. 4. all slaves were set free afterward, only as a political move to stay in step with the rest of the world, and to make money.

Joethepatriot aint joe the history major I guess. Kain'tuck and Missouri were unofficially claimed territories by the CSA, they never seceded from the union. I'm from Arkansas, which IS below the Mason Dickson line...so...SUCK IT!
And aminger1982, unless you can pilot a stealth bomber or an Abrahms tank, I wouldn't be talking to high and mighty about a 2nd round at rebel victory...

I say let non Southerners harbor all the misconceptions and sterotypes they have and continue to denigrate the South. Maybe it will prevent more people from moving here. We have quite enough already..I suggest you go to CA, AZ, NV.....anywhere but here.

the csa clamied them but they never officialy seceeded although a lot of the border state population sided with the south most notably Kentucky,Maryland,and Missouri

I think the best of the South died in the War for States' Rights. The South is full of 130 pound 'men' with half their teeth missing and scraggly beards and 200 pound women with five snot-nosed kids in tow. Check out any Wal Mart. Sad.

actually, that's what some historians say,i mean, you have to think about it and see facts, the two dominant ancestries in America were (and still) : the English in the northern part and Scotch-irish in the south. Wikipedia can teach you things !

Yes but many Scotch-Irish left their first settlements to go and live in Appalachia and headed south, that's why the accent, culture, music has always that Celtic "touch" in those parts, country music & Bluegrass for example are a true proof of the impact Scotch-Irish people have on these genres...
