This video makes fun at a disease that someday might kill ME. I know people that are living with it, that are healthy and happy, so maybe i will live a productive life with it too.
I have Hep C. So does my girlfriend. We were both IV heroin and cocaine users for a long time, then got sober. I knew she had it, but had (unprotected) sex with her every day for 2 years and never caught it. I finally got it when we relapsed together and shot up "just one more time" and I was desperate enough to use her cook-up water, not even her needle. Our doctors have assured us our kids will be fine and we will most likely live to be old enough to die of something else (we're early 30's)
Ive got Hepatitu.C and its really not that big of a deal. This desease was only discovered in the early 90s and people are making a big hype about it.
@TheTexasBastard it has almost killed me twice.. no big deal, i used to think the same way, big deal, BANG, hospital, liver failure... what r u on about? Interfreron is harsh, but worth considering, i wish you all the best.
Well, I've read plenty of acounts of serodiscordant couples that have been having sex unprotected for decades without anything being transmited. It just dosn't seem to be transmited that way. There are expetions. Sex between men who have HIV seems to cay more risk.
But I would wonder where your teachers info comes from.
Um, the reason sex and sneezing are not in the video is because sex is very few people are infected via sex, none by sneezing. Frankly, the video should have mentioned the main point, because obviously people are missing it.
@milascave - Actually (according to my virology professor) the low chance of sexual transmission in promiscuous societies (USA as example) accounts for 15-20% of NEW Hep C infections. You can also get perinatal infection in 6% of cases where the mother is HCV+. Also, liver problems are associated with <20% of chronic infections, and this is due to persistent damage. Alcohol works synergistically with the infection to cause damage which can result in hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer).
go to those skanky bars and pick up people you don't know..
bug them for sex and whammo you dumb sob you got it!!!
Idiot people.
And then it's "those" people "I" get on a train with and they sneeze all over me.. THAT"S where you need to worry my friends.. THOSE people affect YOU and ME.. Why don't they teach that????
Those people night of lust kills all of us..
Spread that motto like they spread their diseases.
This bastard scares the hell out of me, and I'm a surgeon so I should know a little about it lol. Worst thing is, I think about 10% of transmission is by an unknown route! Even when I go to the barbers now I think, 'Shite, I wonder how well they clean the stuff and how hard they are going to be combing my hair!
virtually all of the 10% of 'unknown transmission' will be people who have injected drugs in the past (and either accidentally or deliberately shared injecting equipment) but didn't want to disclose that to their doctor,.. the majority of new infections are through sharing injecting equipment, and this is an important group who should now be tested that aren't covered by the video.
The guys at my school showed me this alonge with a bunch of other ones, but this was the only one that caught my attention. Well, they also showes some pear raping about it, but that one was just stupid.
For those looking for online support for HepC please google hepcnomads.
The Nomads is an online support forum for those affected by Hepatitis. . It is a valuable resource for information with items from the latest research, published papers on HCV, treatment and new drug trials. It can only be viewed by registering and all membership is free. It does focus on the social side of support and is a good place to find like minded people in a similar predicament.
this is great, please add something about piercings such as w/ needles or earrings. lots of people pierce their own ears, sharing the needle and also share earrings or walk into a store and try on an earring without making sure it is sanitized.
what is the number one symptom when you have hepa C?

Hep C is transmitted from blood to blood contact. this should have been stated in the cartoon
