  • My favorite rifle for sure . And yes, that girl can really shoot it.

  • is the garand "as-issued" or has it been modified with sights, et cetera?

  • The 7 people who dislikes this are the guys who she beat...

  • Y'all need to watch her other videos. This girl can definitely shoot. I would not stand in front of the business end of any weapon she is holding.

  • Outstanding! She's more stable offhand than I am while sandbagged on the bench! How does she do it?!

  • Every American and Canadian should know how to accurately use a firearm, women and men.

  • @MX1eleven Absolutely! It is our DUTY to raise our young to be riflemen and women, in defense of life and liberty!

  • Great video! I was showing it to folke around here hoping to get a rifle marksmanship program started for our youth. I have a quick question: can you tell me who the manufacturer is of the black & white shooting jacket she is wearing? Thanks for posting this!

  • Good for her! I shot at the national match for 3P air this past summer. My team took 4th. I also picked up an M1 from the armory there. Its my absolute favorite gun. I cant wait to do some high power matches with it

  • Considering the weight of the M1, this is amazing. I can't even shoot the m1 from that position half as good!

  • Bravo!!

Outstanding work and thank you to all involved who taught this young woman to shoot.

  • Good for her! There's always two traits that indicate an expert shot, they don't talk much, and the front end of that rifle looked like it was sitting on a fixed rest!

  • The M1 is possibly the coolest rifle to be shooting in NRA HP

  • You go girl! my girls (we)and very are proud of you. they shoot a Tub 2000 and love it and plan to try Canp Perry soon. I will be shooting a 03A3 in the Vintage Matches. hopefuly I can get my issue of CREEDMOOR SPORTS back along with all the DVDs of David Tubb. ya,good luck!

  • I highly doubt that she learned to shoot in The Marine Corps, But I enjoy watching a young woman handling a M1 like she does! At least give her that credit, please!

  • i highy doubt she outshot active marines.

  • @4everUSNavy she outscored competitors who were active duty Marines and Army. Why is that so hard to believe? Hell, I qualified expert with the M16 and couldn't get near her with the Garand in offhand.

  • @4everUSNavy I highly doubt she didnt:)

  • @4everUSNavy What's so hard to believe about that? Just cause someone passes marksmanship in BCT doesn't necessarily make them a great shot

  • @4everUSNavy In '09 at Camp Perry the USMC team AND the U.S. Army team lost the National Trophy Infantry Team Match to a group of civilian JUNIOR shooters called the 'Grizzlies'.

  • whats with the huge glove?

  • Well done I love the fact that you have the whole family participating and supportint the activity. Great Job and darn good shooyting. :)

  • Why is she just loading one round at a time? Match rule or something?

  • I love this video, and i really apreciate seeing you get your kids into the wonderful world of shooting. I really liked the hat your young daughter was wearing keep up the good work. And continue preaching safety. I did however find it a bit intimadating because she could probably kick my ass in off hand. And lastly thank you for your service. :)

  • @NRA870 Thank you for your kind words and support.

  • They're not going to have to worry about her when she goes out on a date...that boy will be a complete gentlemen or he'll be target practice. Nice shooting, Miss!

  • shooting position fail !

  • great shooting! congrats! what have u done to that M-1 to accurize it?

  • @alex124485 the rifle is as issued no mods

  • cary hahah!

  • dang im thirteen and would like to be a marksman with the garand but my mother is scared of weapons im gonna have to wait till I move out sigh.

  • @MrSilver497 Show your mother this video

  • She looked like she wasn't taking it too seriously and was having a good time. Good for her. She is a great marksman and that is not easy for anyone. Regardless of how well she did (which was great) she will only get better. Nice Video!

  • For what it's worth when I was a range coach in the Marine Corps women made the best pupils for a couple reason. 1. They dont have that pride and take advice. 2. They don't try to muscle the weapon. 3. Once you get them to not anticipate the recoil women tend to show excellent trigger control. Just my .02

  • id like to see any of the haters here do better than this girl.

  • So many am-chair experts who know nothing about the difficulty of off-hand rifle shooting. I'm a Vietnam era vet who qualified expert with the M16, yet I couldn't do half of what she can do with this big WWII battle rifle in the standing position.

  • @epiphanyvideoprod It took me many years to get good at offhand shooting, I remember the first time I tried to shoot a clay bird offhand at 50 yards, it was not good, now I can blast them well, practice makes perfect. I would love to get a M1 and try this type of comp.

  • Screw the haters. I hate you but for a diff. reason, I'm jealous. Great shooting. It makes me happy to see young people involved in shooting. SEE FOOD!

  • Looks like i found another person to track down incase of a zombie apocalypse :P

  • Awesome shooting!

  • Great video and great shooting!

  • What an awesome video. Great to see people out enjoying such an important part of our American heritage.

  • Not saying anything bad but if she placed 42nd and scored 251, how many points did the other 41 score.

  • @ollieproductions1 There were a few 300 in the top 10. 95% of these competitors are regular Garand shooters. The point of the video is to show that a skinny girl with good air rifle technique (the odd stance) can work with the Garand. Had she owed the Garand and had it sighted at the start, she would have placed in the top 20.

  • How come all competition shooters wear the goofiest looking shit and shoot in what what appears to be the worst shooting stance ever?

  • Comment removed

  • @GenieMB1 "Get off the video game"-- Okay bud. You don't know me, because if you did, you'd know that I own a rifle myself, and I know how to shoot. I made an observation and asked a question. Yeah I was blunt about it, but you could've just answered instead of assuming I'm a low-life gamer and making an ass out of yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • @GenieMB1 Okay, the shooting stance is more understandable, but can you please explain to me why competitive shooters wear the really puffy jackets and thick-ass gloves? It just seems kind of... unnecessary.

  • Comment removed

  • @GenieMB1 Yes that does help. Thank you. And I also apologize for my asinine behavior before. But I guess we all get a little frustrated when we don't understand something.

  • Comment removed

  • @bjpw1234 It's a form of cheating as it stiffens your body and removes breathing from sight control.

  • @mdnelson1234 Why is it cheating when it's in the rules and anyone can use it. How about the glove, mat, spotting scope, yellow glasses, ear muffs, cartridge belt the're all aids. How does it remove breathing from sight control.

  • what was her grouping? I would like to see the paper grouping

  • Outstanding - congrats, young lady! Show the guys how it's done! :)

  • 16 yo girl shooting a Garand in competition and with a good score, pretty impressive. Tighten that sling up during standing. You must be one proud dad, obtw, is that the range by Margarita? For the CMP match you may shoot a carbine in place of a Garand, but she doesnt seem to have much trouble with it

  • Great job! Better luck next time!

  • I wish my girlfriend was interested in this stuff

  • I like the way she stands when firing. It's very feminine :)

And about her shooting skills, well I cannot tell because I don't know much about those competitions but 42nd out of 135 is fairly nice place, when besides she has a lot of time to improve.

  • I bet her shoulder was black & blue afterwards

  • Well done!

    Waiting for Miss Smashed Banana!

  • What was the overall distance?

  • I'd love to get involved in this. A couple questions if you don't mind- My M1 is restocked, does the rifle need to be completely vintage? Also, are there restrictions on ammo grain/velocity? FMJ only? And is there a mailing list or site that lists the events nationwide? Thanks in advance.

  • @UncleDeluxe : info is available on the CMP website. M1's must be 'as issued' for this competition. Ammo is surplus ball and is provided by CMP for the match.

  • @epiphanyvideoprod :P Tell Sarah she is one hell of a shooter.

  • Wow! That's really good! Lucky girl having a pair of my favorite old battle rifles!

  • @Sturmmann Where did you place?

  • @epiphanyvideoprod

I dont shoot paper, I drop bodies

    USMC 0311

  • Comment removed

  • @GenieMB1

I worked with some and they were the dumbest sons of bitches we ever gave missions to. We didnt trust them with stealthier stuff till the end of the deployment, instead we always sent riflemen.

a successful 0317's mission 90% of the time means no shots fired.

you can bet all you want, you dont have the combat experience or experience with snipers

  • @Sturmmann sounds like a little jealousy from somebody too full of himself. This whole discussion revolves around your idiotic comment about a shooters 42nd place finish. The record would probably show some "body droppers" lower than that.

Don't forget that as good as you no doubt are, there may be a "body dropper" on the other side that's as good or better than you with an ego to match. E-9 (ret).

  • @GenieMB1

    oh great....an old sage POG

i can tell you were on the army rifle team because of all the free time you POGs got back in the 80s and 90s

42nd is nothing to brag about.....it doesnt get you even bronze

it indicates that the shooter missed the black at the 200yd line at least a 1/4 of the time

  • Comment removed

  • @GenieMB1

    @GenieMB1

are you that fuckin owens guy from turnersling com?

ur rank dont matter, u can still be a POG regardless

in fact most SNCOs above Gunny didnt keep us company in the field back in Iraq.

fucking fobbits the whole lot of them

  • @USMarineRifleman0311 No I'm not that guy from turnersling com I'm just an old SNCO like a lot of other old SNCO's that provided you with the opportunity to grow up and become a foul mouthed, disrespectful, know it all excuse of a marine. I'm sure that you are far superior than all of the NCO's that got you where you are today and they would all be proud of the way you represent the Corp. Why don't you just answer the questions in the posts like a respectible Marine would if it's not beneath you

  • @epiphanyvideoprod

real grunts dont shoot at paper more than once a year

we drop bodies like he said

  • @USMarineRifleman0311 Why are you even on this page? Stop being disrespectful! Shooting paper and shooting people is different, It is apparent by your comment that your knowledge of the shooting arts is very limited. Gunny Hathcock was a distinguished shooter of paper long before he went to vietnam. I'm sure he would put you in your place Marine!

  • @epiphanyvideoprod

I dont shoot paper, I drop bodies for a living

  • @epiphanyvideoprod Speaking from experience, that is good shooting! I also transitioned from Small Bore to High power during my college days. I was a University Rifle Team and within moved to a National Guard Rifle Team. Made the Governors Twenty at my first opportunity.

The shooting principles are the same, the main difference is the size of the round and the wind variables. I was also expert, shooting master scores.

  • @epiphanyvideoprod

    185/200 for the offhand.

Shot a 60yr old M1, beat the 2 runner ups in the offhand, all by 3 pts

    They both had ARs

  • 185/200 2x

  • Good job, Sarah! As to the uninformed posters below who say Sarah's stance is incorrect...ummm...why don't you learn something about the subject you're posting about before you go making accusations. You've obviously never shot CMP highpower before. Keep up the good work Sarah; we'll see you at Camp Perry I'm sure of it!

  • terrible stance, but she shoots really well!

  • good shooting. cant wait until my boy is old enough to shoot.

  • Impressive. You go Girl !.. and Congratulations.

  • She Holds that weapon fucked up but hey, whatever works!!!

  • Wilcox Range, good times

  • VERY impressive. I bet that young woman has some very proud parents. Well done young lady!

  • Nice shooting. What range was that 200? I know you don't go by groups but what kind of grouping does a rifle like that print at 200? thanks.

  • great shooting, how old waqs she when she started?

  • OUTSTANDING YOUNG LADY, NO FEAR. CONGRADULATIONS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

  • I am a competition shooter myself and seeing fearless young ladies participate in high level competition shooting just makes me proud.

To the attractive lady shown here: Congratulations to your 42nd rank. Keep on shooting and move up the ladder! All the best!

  • i could put rounds downrange with her anyday.

  • Hell yes. How's she on the Springer '03, or K98? *raspy voice* GET OFF MY LAWN!

  • Good Shooting!

  • CMP is a great program thanks for sharing the vid. schmoo

  • where was this?

  • @DrakrSlyr Camp Pendleton

  • @epiphanyvideoprod All those yrs I lived right next door to Pendleton and didnt take advantage of their range--grr! Great shooting! love the M1!

  • Very nice shooting. I'd like to compete against this young lady.

  • damn, she's smooth

  • excellent,excellent,excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she needs to sick with with toy guns she can fire that rifle fast it will put her on her ass

  • @dalanebigsexy i bet u a million bucks she could outshoot you

  • @dalanebigsexy sigh, you know nothing.

  • lol...show & tell @ 2:28

  • she is probably holding the rifle properly for competition shooting but luckily the garand doesnt have that much recoil because the butt was not in the pocket of her should, try shooting a .375 H&H mag that way and it woulndt be pretty

  • **shoulder

  • Comment removed

  • cudos! She can outshoot me with the Garand anyday!

  • well its not about how fast you shoot...all the marine and military competitors are doing slow fire as well (IF they actually want to compete) and she still beat them

  • i hope the boy friend wil not cheat on hear ore he is dead :P

  • that gun weighs 9 pounds and keeping her support hand in close to her body is probably her best chance at supporting the weigh. besides this girl could probably out shoot most of you and she is only 16. all you tactical guys crack me up. you just want to look really cool and would trade that for being able to hit something

  • Wow! This young lady is an inspiration! My two boys told me that they want to shoot as good as her.

    You are awesome Sarah!

  • That is great shooting. She should be very proud and her parents even prouder. The youth of this Nation are the future of supporters of the 2nd Amendment and showing responsible gun ownership at this age is crucial . CMP is doing a great job!

  • damn good shooting

  • Respect!!

  • awesome technique and form for a 16yr old girl. That rifle is no joke. If you've never shot one. I highly recommend it. one of the best rifles still to this day.

Killed my first deer with a Garand.

  • no offense to the shooter...the idea of a shooting cometition allowing anything but the gun and the gun componants seems like a load of shit to me. Using target suits and gloves seems like a degeneration of the sport and doesnt accurately protray results of the shooter. Its kind of like sticking your gun in a vice and seeing whos gun can shoot better groups. But i guess thats why i prefer 1000 yard matches

  • Comment removed

  • Hell yeah, a girl that can shoot an M1, damn will you marry me?

  • No doubt she is skilled but it seems she's not forming the shoulder pocket for the butstock but rather holding the butstock on her outer shoulder tip, maybe even her arm.

It might be necessary now but she will need to adapt as she grows bigger.

How much does an M1 weigh ??

  • @mocatz187 it's pretty dam heavy, one of the reasons it doesn't kick alot

  • well the armyboys will be able to shot 5 fast shots in a quite gathered spread. this girl will shoot 3 and then fall backwards

  • @Ittal competition shooting is not combat shooting. She can do both.

  • @epiphanyvideoprod Ofc she can

  • @epiphanyvideoprod Ahah well said, actualy I hate people who don't understand that it is a sport and that the goal is to hit the target, not to empty your magazine as fast as possible, believing that you're as accurate as in CoD although you missed 9/10 of your shots.

  • @Ittal show me where she fell in this vid? that's the typical stance for competition son, the target doesn't shoot back at her. The point here is extreme accuracy not speed.

  • @Ittal if she can handle this 30.06 with precision and control. i'm sure she can handle a 5.56 with no problem.

  • @Ittal I would recomend you watch her other shooting vids. She holds her own.

  • Nice form!!

  • There !!! SEEE !!! This proves it. Anyone can shoot an M1 and not say

    ''ohhh it hurt's'' ....

One little girl shooting a man's rifle and hitting what she aim's at now that's impressive ! I know M1 owners that brag about how well they shoot, and they cant balive me . Me? I got expert all 4 yours in the corps =) This girl has talent !

  • Good for you Honey!

  • I wished i was in this comp : | looks fun

  • shes a natural good shootin.

  • I got into shooting by myself in mid 20's but it would have been a great sport to have my parents get me into at a younger age. Awesome to see the introduction of shooting and firearm safety at such a young age!

  • @SlumberPM

but tp me it looks like shes not standing correct. shouldnt she leean forward?

  • She took top junior that year. She also scored better than some military men and police officers. Whatever she was doing worked.

  • @michelle1576

    hm ok, i didnt say anything...did i? :D

  • @MeeGra123 Her stance is typical Olympic style air rifle and offhand small bore. She's an NRA Distinguished Expert in 4 position small bore rifle.

  • @epiphanyvideoprod

then there is a difference to military shooting?

Or do big bore shooters stand another way?

  • @epiphanyvideoprod

Well, the 30-06 is about the farthest thing from small bore, I'd think. Still, it's amazing how well she did.

  • @MeeGra123

nope, that's how they taught the troops how to shoot in the second world war and korea. She's shooting just fine. besides, its a .30 cal rifle it's going to have a hell of a kick compared to the 5.56. lol.

  • @MeeGra123 she is holding the body in tension, it makes a steadier platform when shooting off hand.

  • imagine the future guys breaking up with her, she will give them like 200 yards and the HEADSHOT :D

  • I would love to fire an M1 Garand sometime!

  • Its s worth it, they once you fire an M1, everything else seems like crap.

  • Very talented shooter, and it's amazing to see a young girl like that so comfortable with a firearm. 5/5

  • I have to show this to my mom. You should be proud of her! She has the making of an expert.

  • Go for it girl! Beat them every time! ...and have fun for god's sake! :)

  • .30-06 or .308?

  • @jimothy183 .30-06

  • Nice and old school.

  • It's obvious that she is an amazing shot and works hard, but she also seems modest, smart, and well brought up. She's such a role model.

She'd also make a good movie heroine. Someone needs to buy this story.

  • How would she make a good movie heroine? No doubt she has talent but it's nothing to make a movie out of... There are hundreds of women that shoot competition, most of which are better than alot of men, I think it has to do with being more gentle and not yanking triggers... Say what you want but I am not THAT impressed, impressed no doubt but my jaw is still in its original location... she has potential to be the best, I would like to see her there...

  • @MorroccoSurrogate cause you can totally get that from a video where she doesn't speak at all

    sure

  • That rocks! (Gotta show my daughter when she wakes up tomorrow.)

  • Awesome vid! This will help me dispel the myth that only old white men are involved in the shooting sports.

  • Wow! That gal has control! X-)

  • Excellent video. Makes me want to go out and shoot my Garand.

She looks like a great little shooter.
