I know I'm one of the only people who will openly defend this film, because it is a damn beautiful movie no matter how derivative the story is. But the Rifftrax crew just gives me another reason to watch it.

@NateSean it was good visuals in 2D, but 3D kinda sucked.. probably just cause my gf at the time made us sit towards the front so we were looking up at it and werent getting the full effect.

@GrizDrummer25 The pending release of Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D is all the proof I'll need that 3D exists solely to keep you from noticing your wallet being slowly drained of it's lifeforce.

I personally haven't seen any overwhelming reason to pay extra for glasses that I have to return, knowing full well that someone with a bad case of red eye might have worn them before me.

I'm buying the 3-disc Blu-ray edition of Avatar in March, which includes three different editions of the film. The Rifftrax is for the original, theatrical edition, right?

@Verto9999 Actually, I'm pretty sure it's for the theatrical edition. They released the Riff around the same time Avatar first came out on DVD and Blu-ray in April 2010 (the crappy edition with no bonus features at all). Thanks!

I'm one of the few guys who wasn't even that impressed by the visuals. They're cluttered, violate basic rules of composition, and remind me of Maddox's rant about Revenge of the Sith: there technically aren't any special effects.

@FenristheRedWolf i wasnt that impressed either, and as a filmmaker i cant stand 3D. it draws all effort put into it and all attention watching it away from the story because everyones too focused on getting the shot that more or less breaks the 4th wall and comes right at the camera. 3D tv's dont even utilize it well. my dad just got one and it just adds extra background layers in stead of coming out of the frame.

I like how this movie out does even Michael Bay in the whisper thin plot wrapped in nearly 3 hours of shameless CGI masturbation department.
