he is right tho .. at age of 13 i was starting with alcohol and ecstasy and amphetamines and also various pills .. i kept going for some years until marijuana made me slowly hate the other drugs .. today i do not drink i do not smoke tobacco and i try not to even use my pills i get from my doc .. i have several diagnoses as add, anxiety , depression and possibly bipolar , i have migrenes , sleep disorder and chronic back pain .. but in my country i can not use marijuana legally.. great huh?

I smoked marijuana for 9 years, and quit. Never in that time did I try any other drugs, and personally, having to have quit cigarettes and marijuana I can say that A, Cigarettes were twice as hard to quit, and B, Marijuana is not a gateway drug.

The gateway drug argument is based on the fact that they ask people who do hard drugs on what drug they started. Obviously they say weed because it is the easiest to get, and a logical starting point for someone with substance abuse problems.
