  • @meade916 is a sony explode 750 wat amp to little for 1 12?

  • good shit steve!!!

  • just my opinion bro....do your thing

  • @leslieandchad its your opinion that guessing your settings is better then doing it right? lol do your thang man.

  • @meade916 man i wantted your opion on something.i really like subs and the shit they do but would it be fine if i did this. ok ihave 2 15inch kicker CVX subs. im thinking about getting 2 more and put them in another box like i have would it be ok would it hit like hell??

  • nice gismos but you dont have to have that shit to set your gains

  • @leslieandchad actually a O-scope isnt a "gizmo" and yes you do need that or something equivilent to do it properly. Key word. Properly.

  • Man I've been following you vids and you are the truth when it comes to car audio. That damn tahoe is bad ass hell man. Your the reason my amps are tuned and sound so good from this vid. Will upload vid soon.

  • steve thats the best way i have ever seen how much for the meter

  • there is no one setting - all cd quality is different so you will need to adjust depending on style of music

  • Look how far you've come bro! From this to the dd1 man movin up in the world haha keep up the awesome!

  • were did you get all that wire steve

  • thanks steve ... i think i need to but that scope ..... its hard to tune using your ears ...

    !!!

  • were do you get all thoughs wires

  • steve, the settings on my 10 inch kicker setup has a bunch knobs to turn using a flat head screw driver and i've been playing with them but the sub doesn't have a crisp sound for the volume level i want. Any ideas how much boost power or gain I should set or high or low input It should have??

  • Sick vid dude!!!!!!! I love it now my shit stopped clipping! Thanks tons!

  • what's the name of this o scope? link would be great thanks!!! btw when adjusting gain i know to leave the headunit at flat, but where do i set the lpf before doing this? thanks

  • Like that pimp c - pourin up you had playing. I haven't hear that song in years haha

  • iNeed Help, :\ iGot 2 Memphis 6.5 ithink they're 50rms/100 and 2 6x9 Memphis 60rms/120? ithink .. idk but what kind of amp could power these speakers Help Please :( Thanxx

  • +1 on Darvex just order all my connectors there. 50+ connectors +1 lol

  • im new to car audio and i was wondering if i hook up a amp to my 6x9 will they just play mids and highs or will it just be really loud i have a subwoofer already and i wanted to have clear mids and highs

  • thanks Meade for this vid. ive been into car audio for about 12 years.. and never new about this.. awesome .. kudos !!

  • Do you have to unplug your speaker from your amp as you're doing this? I'm assuming yes, because I'm using the same oscope and everything and mine is going all over the place when I hook it up to my amp and the speakers are still connected. I haven't tried it without having my speakers hooked up at the same time, I just didn't think it would make a difference.

  • @gcutler15 he even said it in the video..lol 2:00

  • @tokenchoke311 I know that, but I'm just wondering if there's actually a reason/advantage for doing so.

  • @gcutler15 yeah there is a reason...i think you stated it in your first question. the advantage is that you can tune your gain on your amp properly so just unhook your speakers lol.

  • @tokenchoke311 I did that, everything is set up perfectly now. I just found it weird that having the subs attached while the oscope was attached would throw the oscope off.

  • Ok you just set the amp gain correctly according to your headunit but what about your speakers? what if the amp power is higher than the speakers power?

  • If the equilizers on the radio were all turned up could it cause the soud to disort or maybe even blow the sub cuz i have a friend that had them all the way up and after a while the sub stoped playing or could it be that the amp wasnt adjusted correctly.

  • Where can I order the gain adjusting disc from?

  • "not trying to brag or anything... but i have got THE seciest wire collection you've ever fucking seen. Go on, say it." :P

  • Hey Steve had a quick question about this. I am running a really basic system. Interior off of the deck and a crunch amp putting out maybe 400 watts..when it's struck by lightning. But I have an ossilo and I set it up. Question is this, when it's set to max on the occilo everything is set flat and bass and such at 0. Should I be setting my max volume down a bit to be able to play with the EQ on my pioneer or is it best to just go max clean and leave it flat?

  • dont u just hate when u cant find shit.lol.damn bro u aint playen

  • i wish i had ur job

  • my voltmeter doesnt do this would it be the same thing if i hookes a scope up to it

  • i bet ur neighbors love you

  • knockin doors down... huuuuuuhh haha

  • I know you never respond to my questions but I gotta try. What if I don't have a slope scope can I do it with a multimeter and if so what numbers should I look for?

  • This right here is the only guy who knows what the fuck he is doin

  • How the hell did I miss this Vid? Thanks alot. I know that its old ass news. But My New Citi card Just had her Cherry Popped On Darvex.com.

  • i have 1 mono 3200 watts and sub BM double coils, mag each 1300watts. can i bridge the sub go to mono. Please PM me crucifycry@yahoo.com TQ..

  • Hello,

I have an O-scope here and have followed your steps, I just have some questions....

With your EQ settings what should they be at for tuning mid/high and lows? flat line? or maxed out?

Also I have options to turn sub to +8 or -8 also for mid/high +10 to -10 what should these be at when tuning?

    Cheers for your info!

  • Hey steve I'm kinda new to subs so i understand the highs but what the lows and how do you set gain i have a 300 watt rockford with a 12 inch boston G3

  • mad props on all your videos i wish i had i system in my car.

  • i have a 1600watt infinity kappa one amp and 2 infinty 120.9 subs what shuld i put the boost.lpf.hpf, and input at

  • Hey Steve, Steve here. lol. Hey I'm working with a budget system in my daily driver, got pioneer 2 way 5 1/4's and 3 way pioneer 6x8's for highs running off my deck with a pair of Hifonics HF12D4's on a Crunch Pzi 2250. I have an older analog oscillo and was wondering for setting the deck clip I would want to hook to the speaker wire from the deck right then do the sub's the way you showed on here?

  • dayumm steve, those 0 gauge wires look like heven !

  • Hey Steve, my deck has 2 volt pre-outs; the subwoofer has two separate pre-outs but the manual says its "MONO" NOT Stereo. When I set my input gain should it be at 2 volt or will the two 2 volt RCA's combine to form a 4 volt or 1 volt signal? When I use it on 2 volt setting I have to eliminate Bass Boost completely or I will eventually clip the amp and it shuts off for about 10 seconds and is hot. At 4 volt setting I use the Bass Boost and the amp stays cool never clips. What's best?

  • Do you think these would work correctly from Deal Exterme (SKU 39749)?

  • dats wassup my dude! from the stl

  • Just wanted to say thanks for this how to video, i bought the same scope as you and imported it to norway, works wonders! wish you could make more how to's in the future but i guess the bass fans are more demanding hehe.

  • @TheRealNoxside glad i could help bro!!! enjoy your new toy!!

  • @meade916 Steve i got a 72 dodge dart. it only has two 6x9 inch speakers in the back. What 6x9's and amp would you recomend? (I have a 15 in the back and may add 2 more 6x9's in boxes)

  • Steve, how do you find out where your DECK CLIPS?? In your case, the deck clips at 59 or 60.

  • Steve-

One more question- How do you find out where your deck starts to clip? O scope too? Could you please explain that? O, keep bumpin that UGK!

  • after u set ur gains w/ oscope will turning the treble up/ bass down or add bass boost on deck cause any clipping?

  • How would you tune a four channel I didn't see a video on that yet.

  • wonder where i could find some wire at? oh right here. like fucking 5 miles of wire XD

  • "Of course you're gonna wanna take Celly Cel out...

    just for a minute though."

    LOL

  • my favorite howto video for car audio

i have been clipping all this time......... wow thank you steve, i have my shit STRAIGHT now , subs and front stage.

    wow

    10 / 5

  • Steve, wouldn't setting with a 5-10dB overlap be beneficial when listening to music? Music isn't a constant -0dB, so to get the most out of the system, 5-10dB overlap would help.

  • did i need to bypass my amplifier when doing this?

  • Great video steve, but if you have an active crossover before the amplifier, how do you set the gain....?

  • what about the punch e-q or the frequency? dont you set those....?

  • Hello Steve,

Can you please tell me where I can get a copy of the CD you use in this tutorial?!!

    I live in Europe

    Thanks very much

  • hey anyone who knows a good answer can answer this but this is directed towards Steve. When my friend installed my system in my truck he didnt hook up the capacitor. I only had one alpine type r 12 hooked to a cheap amp. Since then i have found your videos and have become a huge beat enthusiast. Im gettin my second type r in a few weeks. Should i buy a new capacitor since i threw the old one out?

  • everyone is different about capacitors but i think batterys are better. the only time you really need to add a battery is when your listening to music and your voltage drops below 12v becouse if you dont power your amp right it puts stress on it and it will fry. and if you really think about it all these compotition cars and people like steve dont use capacitors.

  • Hi.. i know im not steve but he's probably a little bit more busy than i am so here is my 2 cents :)... Any reason you didnt hook up the cap??? how was your voltage without it... 2 type R 12's with a "cheap amp" you may not need any help in that area although it wont hurt, i would say try it out see how your voltage is... if you see obvious dimming upgrade the electrical... either cap, battery or simply the big 3 might work for you... caps are a nice, cheap space saving way to help your bass

  • Well at the time when we first put it in i knew nothing about systems. I just loved the way it felt and sounded in all my friends rides ya know. And i sold it. I got a kenwood 1500 watt amp for christmas so that replaced my shitty other amp. and idk how to check voltage but if by dimming you mean just when the sub hits turned way up then yes there is dimming but none other than that.

  • good to hear about the new amp... yes if your lights are dimming when the bass hits you should upgrade in some way... depends what you're looking for...a cap would be a good way to help, small will save you space and might be a nice touch visually to your setup... i personally use batteries but they can get expensive and use up quite a bit of space... the big 3 upgrade will help quite a bit also and relieve some of the stress on the alt but requires a little time, a few tools and some cable..

  • can u hook up 8 inch subwoofer for mid if so wat should use for highs wat size speaker

  • lol why the fuck do u need all that useless wire

  • @darthnater22 useless? why do you think its useless? maybe to you because your dumbass doesnt know what its for.....but to everyone else its a goldmine of USEFULL wire.

  • @meade916 Goldmine indeed! But more like a copper mine. At least Id hope thats all copper. Alluminum would be pretty useless wire :). Or perhaps do you have silver wire? I hear silver wire is the best you can buy next to platinum (which I dont think they make) but is very expensive.

  • to people who spend their whole life hooking up speaker systems in their car

  • what about people that make more then you in an entire year in one month by using this wire? you realize what you just said makes you look like a fucking idiot right? Thats like telling a mechanic he dont need all those fucking tools unless he is getting rich fixing cars....LOL DUMBSHIT.

  • That's right Steve!!!

  • i think its useless because thats enough wire to wire up 200 cars with subs and w/e else you need, and it may be a goldmine to people who spend their whole life hooking up random shit in their car

  • @darthnater22 So then why do you care? It's useless to you but not to others..? Your opinion is useless to everyone watching this video right now..

  • @meade916 thats true what i would do for just like half of it :) good stuff keep up the hard work i always wonder why people comment crap just wastes i think? good shyte Meade

  • Btw steve, whats the biggest wire you have on those rolls? I want to use 4/0 to run from my alternator to my battery since they are roughly 15 feet apart :p. Thats like $2k worth of wire easy. I wish I had all that in my garage.

You basically have your own little audio shop there, got everything you need in one place man. Thats hella awsome.

  • @320bit got some 2/0 up in there......lots of 1/0 and everything below it too :) thnx bro!!

  • thats the head unit i have installed at the moment. pioneer avh-p6400cd, its damn good for the money

  • that looked like a punch hx2 or a power hx2 at the begining

  • WOW STEVE...oscilloscopes are frickin expensive....that one he has is like 360 bucks and thats a cheap one!! is there any other way to set your gain properly???

  • @bentboybbz Some companies will have voltage numbers on the gain that display like .5v, 1v, 2v, and so on. You could do it that way if your amp displays them, otherwise you could do it by ear. But this is the best way to do it if you got the money for that little toy. I need to get me one.

  • my amp is dead :( got power ground remote and rca hooked up and cut a knarled up end off the speaker wire and it landed in a unknown spot between the power and speaker terminals....didnt blow either fuse...comes on but no sound....that will teach me not to have power to the amp before its done being hooked up ;( im going to check it one more time but i think shes done...good thing it was a cheap amp(planet audio vx6005)still sux though

  • now this was set on AP right? cause i have the same punch amp an jus wanted to knw?

  • Why do you have to play 1kHz for mids and highs?

  • Steve, which Punch amp was that, P400-4 was it???

  • Hey Steve, I had NO idea you could set gains in such an easy but presise way, I've learnt something new fo sure. Steve I need to ask you for advice brother, PLEASE HELP bro :o) P.S.- I will send you a Personal Message with my enquiry, hope you don't mind.

  • for get that late comment

    soz about spelling

  • Dayum Meade, I want to eat your brain.

Juss jokin'. Nah I really wish I had your knowledge. Got a car comp comming up Dec. Peace

  • do it matter the ohm load?

  • R.I.P PIMP C

some songs he played in diz video

  • where do you have your frequency on the amp set at?

  • holy shit you have your own fuckin store at your place

  • hey do you have to do anything special to make your bass knob work. like i can hook mine up and it makes no difference whatsoever with the bass.

  • ur gain is too high mate!

  • dibs on amp and sub if youll it to me cuz my shit got stolen.

  • So with a epicenter, or that bass cube you have. These settings have to be reset?

    Thanks for this cool info.

    thanks

  • Steve you said that deck clips at around 59-60 how do you find out when it starts clipping? i know with the o-scope but you just hook it to the speaker outs or what? and i love all your videos.... anyways reply when you can thanks

  • I would like to know this aswell

  • you got a whole fuckin audio shop in there lol!

  • how would you do this if you had a line driver?

  • steve can u post the link some where for a o scope?

    thanks

  • its in the video at like 3 minutes or something

  • thanks man

  • so after you do that what about the bass setting on the amp and all the setting on the eq of the head unit like mid high low heztz lev and 1w or 1n and all of that

  • what the make of that multi meter and round about how much would i pick one up for? good information in the video steve

  • how do you know its good information if you didnt watch the video? if you watched it you would know what meter and where to get it at ;) :)

  • how do you set your gains if you dont have a rockford fosgate amp. i have a Maxxsonics Crunch 1500.1 mono amp. plus can you get the CD for the setting off the rockford site?

  • all amps have a gain control knob it dont matter what brand you use

  • now i need a oscope

  • so after you do that what about the bass setting on the amp and all the setting on the eq of the head unit like mid high low heztz lev and 1w or 1n and all of that

  • and what are amp gains o.o

  • whats an O-Scope?

  • thanks for The Info ...From Trinidad, West Indies!

  • I want your garage.

  • that was good explanation steve :)

guessing that amp is playin at just under 100 rms? becuase the voltage was just under 20 volts?

just wondering what rms those powers can handle becuase i have a set and how much excursion they can handle ? mine dont move quite as much as yours there but not too far off, mine are at jus under 100 rms :)

    cheers steve :) Xx

  • that was just one channel bro...its much more when i bridged it and ran the sub....im not sure on the RMS ill have to go check :)

  • You really know what you're talking about.

You should do work on my car :]

I wanna make that shit pop man.

Wanna do me a huge favor and message me?

  • steve would you be willing to sell that deck

  • what did you do rob a sterio shop

  • thanks sir im have learned alot in your vids!!

and you inspire me to learn more about quality sounds

  • whats up with that demo we have been talking about

  • yeh not everyody has an o scope u should rele show how to set it w/o one & w/o the 360.1 disc

  • you dont need a 360 disc, you can use anything as long as you have those same tracks or very simalar. Its just RF is one of the few companies that provides it for you if you want it. Also, setting your gains without an o-scope is just guesswork. If you dont have one, you should take your car to someone who does.

  • well idk nebody who has one plus my amp rca output is fucked up so im screwed and it prly wont matter ne way, i mean it sounds ok now but on sum songs since i use my ipod when i turn the deck up sounds all fuked up and distorted i hate it

  • you almost didnt find the wire!

  • lol

  • i didnt know it was this hard to install a sound system

  • anyone can hook up a system. Not everyone chooses to do it correctly...

  • can i use this sentence as my sig on SMD?
