If your going to eat an animal (i do)... give it a dignified death, remove the head straight away, and do not touch cut into it if its still moving slightly.
@doinworksonnnnn There was some shonky knifework in the video I admit and apologise. My advice would be turn it the other way around, have the head closest to you and work away from yourself.
@ToBigForMyBritches I use the edge of my sole on my boot angled at 45 degrees so the toes of your boot are facing its head and your sole is above its shoulders, then just a firm pull of its back legs until you hear or feel the neck break.
Is that legal? What about his parents... hahaha.. just kidding . good work.. yummy.. I save the blood and make blood pudding throw the heart and liver in there for some extra flavor.. !
Best video I've watched yet to get the most amount of meat from your rabbit, You did make me nervous with the knife pointed at your own gut a few times though.
@themargenaus I use the edge of my sole on my boot angled at 45 degrees so the toes of your boot are facing its head and your sole is above its shoulders, then just a firm pull of its back legs until you hear or feel the neck break. It's the quickest, easiest way I've found to do it.
I eat meat & I'm not a anti-meat eating hippie or hate on people that do but to be honest I'm glad I don't have to kill the animal. I get it's hypocritical but with it's legs twitching like in this video I don't think I would be able to eat meat again. I prob would starve as-well.
anyone notice when he ripped the guts out of the second rabbit they were still steaming? i thought that was pretty rad. learned a lot from this video, thanks!
@brendacusick You can cut the head off after, it works both ways really, keep the head though if you want to try brain tanning to preserve it, it does work and you don't need chemicals.
His rabbits looked like they had good clean meat. The fur also looked worth saving. Here in Illinois it seems most of the rabbits I hunt are loaded with fleas and ticks. If they weren't so bad I would try and save the pelts also. I'm wondering can such pelts be salvaged?
@sam1999thriller Breaking its neck breaks arteries and veins so most of the blood congeals in the neck well away from the meat. Some folk eat snare caught rabbits that have died in the snare so all the blood is still in the animal, It could be a problem with storing the meat but using it same day should be fine.
Ah...Very good video, even though it made me gag. I'm trying to get use to the idea of dressing a rabbit cuz we may be raising them for meat at some point. I can skin a full freaking deer out with no problem, but cute little bunnies? That's gonna take some time getting used to. :) lol
More like....how to UNdress a rabbit! anyone? anyone? super informative though mate, thanks! Why do you use the big knife, do you think its better/worse than something with a smaller blade?
@DeathscytheBleh Haha! nice! It is a bit easier with a smaller knife as you get a bit more control. I had to use that knife, couldn't find my smaller knife!
@nuke295 I have a Buck knife which is good, stays sharp for a long time. As long as the knife (or scissors) are sharp anything should work, just don't pop the guts!
@nuke295 If anything inside the guts touches the meat you risk contaminating the meat. It also smells slightly better when you don't pop the guts! Do have a look at them though to make sure that they are healthy looking (no weird lumps, bumps or spots).
wen you break there neck there still alive bro they stay alive up to 10 mins max

Don't you need to bleed it out immediately? I thought that lack of bleeding will contaminate the meat just as puncturing the guts.
