Here in Phoenix (Tempe) on the ASU campus there is a store called the "Hippie Gypsie" and I don't think most if any of those kids have a fathom of two inklings of picomeasure of a concept of half a notion where that name comes from...
White Lightning....turn on....stay on...mobile mobile mobile.....day and night, night and day after day after day....over fifty....keep me movin....movin movin yeah....meep meep.....lol....over fifty....
Yes, when this album came out, we'd listen to it on the 8-track tape player in my boyfriend's VeeWee as we drove up and down the California coast with our Thai stick morning tea.
35 years later, and I'm still a hippie gypsy, goin' mobile with my flash drive and iPod.
I may be old, but Pete, Keith, and John will live and play forever.
@RattyPiss Oh Ratty dear Ratty. If I weren't already married, and you weren't a rodental unit, I would marry you in a flash. You are my kind of rat. Whisker kisses to you!
Watch the police and the taxman miss me, I'm MOBILE! [beep beep]
Keith Moon is the best drummer of all time! What did he have to influence him back then? Hardly anyone! His style was like one big "fill in enigma" on the drums is what I call it!
For all you engaged in the Keith Moon vs. Neil Peart debate, I have a riddle for you....what do you call people who hang out with musicians? DRUMMERS.
@blackpassenger No you're wrong. To say Keith Moon doesn't even come close is ridiculous. Neil Peart technically speaking is a better drummer than Keith Moon, but Keith Moon has so much more energy and emotion in his style of drumming and I'll take that over technical superiority any day. Rush does kick ass though. They're one of the few bands that can match The Who's talent, I'd still give The Who the edge though.
The Who plus 2 of today will never even scratch the greatness of what the original line up was. I love Pete and Rog, but come on, at least change the name of whatever your line up is now. NOT the Who without John and Keith.
@gcola100 Pete and Rog are the heart of the band and always have been. yeah keith and john played a very big role in the band, but theirs wasnt key. Without Pete or Rog, then it wouldnt be the who, but as long as these two can stand, they're gonna be playing under the name of The Who whether you like it or not...and i hope they never stop
Thanks to the Queer bait$ at YOU TUBE I'm going home~* And when I wanna go home I'm going mobile~* Well, I'm gonna find a home And we'll see how it feels Going mobile~* Keep me moving... I can pull up by the curb I can make it on the road Goin' mobile~* I can stop in any street And talk with people that we meet
I saw The Who live at the Fillmore East, NYC May '69 with It's A Beautiful Day ( White Bird) and Sweetwater. A fire started next door. The fire dept wanted the concert stopped so a plain clothes policeman stormed the stage. He tried to grab Pete Townshend's microphone. Pete kicked him in the groin! He doubled over. The crowd cheered as he was dragged off the stage. The band sang one more song: Summertime Blues. Then the police and firemen forced us to exit out to the back alley. Good times!
This is a very old song from the Who. My brother-in-law gave me the eight track. Was not on their greatest hits album, although I really like it. And Let's See Action, from the same album. Loved that eight track! I remembered the name of this song, but couldn't remember the song name of Let's See Action. I sang a refrain from the song, he looked it up on his album & pointed to it right away. And it's on You Tube. Let's see Action is a great song that didn't get the recognition it deserved!
Hey, I just came across this site that is supposedly giving away a number of the new Motorola Droid's, ofcourse the chance of getting one is small since there must be tons of people signing up for this, but anyway, I signed up and I'm hoping to be one of the lucky ones. It's free and takes like 30 seconds so I thought why not. My brother even joined the contest and he already owns a Droid.
"Watch the police and the taxman miss me" is my favorite line and one of the coolest lyrics of any song by The Who. Isn't it so true? Keep it mobile...
The drums are SICK in this song. It's pretty cool because up until the end, the guitar is acoustic, but Keith is just beating the crap out of his kit. We will all miss one of the greatest drumming talents-EVER.

Yes, Keith Moon's drumming is about the best in history, It is a lead instrument, played with panache, energy and emotion, so great.
