  • That was really epic but I had no idea that it was the last they were going to make.

  • Thw 87 turtles were not that goofy.

  • Really liked it :D felt soo nostalgic But I also had a problem with the goofiness of the 1987 turtles I don't remember them clearly since I was so young when I watched it but I don't remember them being That silly (except for mickey I think) And I remember april being, well dunno not that much of a damsel in distress kinda person but more looking for trouble (as a reporter) than again my memory of it is very vague

I really miss the initial on their belts though :P I plan rewatching the old show

  • i just watched it, it was so EPIC, the only thing i didnt like was how goofy they made the 87 turtles look.

  • 4:12 not to menstion the 1987 mikey (in this movie anyway) was as annoying as the 2003 mikey.

  • I liked how new Shredder was awesome compared to old Shredder, who was kind of funny in the way that he was trying to be the evil one, but failing.

  • @genredleader if you actually watched the full movie you would know that the Turtles were accurately potrayed and that they weren't goofy all the time!

  • I'm sorry, I could not watch more than five minutes of this movie. The newer turtles weren't really interacting with the old cast so much as they were interacting with a parody of the original cast and that's not what the movie's supposed to be selling. :\ Painful doesn't even begin to describe how badly this was done. If they weren't going to take seriously, they shouldn't have bothered at all. -_-

  • I'd runaway from that Raphael myself. XD

  • the trash can thing was a reference to one of the gameboy games!!

  • Did you ever review turtles in time for snes?

  • Yeah the 2003 writers made the 1987 tmnt real stupid plus I dont think they even knew much about them.

1987 leonardo voice is the worse he sounds nothing like the original one.

The 1987 raphael was a good one he sounded 80% like him

and why the ones from back to the sewer why not have the one from the Return to new york episodes those ones looked fantastic.

    I'll give this movie a 7 out of 10

  • thumbs up for pizza and banana mutant!!!

saving april once a day was so true

and i dont think they overdone the stupidity of the 80ties version. they really were stupid and i loved it cuz i was a litle child XD

  • i also liked the golf ball comment in this flick lol!

  • 2:47 i dont know, in one ep in seson 5 of the old show they ran away from samery and frow fish at them, thats prity cowerdly

  • My generation of turtles was the '03 ones. After seeing this I decided I'd check out the older cartoon. No, they weren't as bad as in the movie. They were worse. I know, I grew up with 90s cartoons, and so I'm used to darker stuff, but I could not sit through those earlier cartoons. I'm sorry if it annoys people that I think this, but I have no nostalgia filter re: the 87 turtles.

  • I didn't get to see the whole series. Thinks he's the real shredder?

  • the 87 changed the comic book one alot

  • THe 1980 turtles remind me of Deadpool from MVC3 for some reason. i never knew the 1980 Shredder was an idiot either.

  • I understand what the reviewer is saying here by it being neat that these classics are making comebacks, but I'm a bit torn on that in all honesty. Personally, I think bringing back franchises such as the Ninja Turtles has a lot more to do with marketing and making money than anything else. They figured "hey it worked once, why not do it again?" Just think, in 2 years, it will have been an entire decade already since the 2003 series, so they can go after a whole new youthful audience with it.

  • I don't know mutch about the 87 turtles but I think that perhaps they were overly silly for a reason. When the comic, 87 and 2003 turtles are all to gether there needs to be contrast, the comic characters are really dark so they made the 87's really light and then there are the 2003 turtles who are in the middle hence a kind of balance of badass and funny.

my idea probably isn't right but it could be possible.

  • @mazzy305 the '87 turtle series was definitely much more lighthearted than its 2003 counterpart, but they overdid it with this special, I think. They made the '87 turtles look like weak retards. That got to me a bit. That said, it was really sweet at the end to see the comic turtles kick some major ass.

  • @pumarunner88 yeah I also like how the really seriouse comic turtles let their hair down (so to speak) at the very end. So funny!

  • ok what you need to do before watching this:

get a fan of the 80s turtles, a fan of the comics, a fan of the rececent series and somebody who isnt into any turtles, ALL of them will LOVE it!

  • @ANTIcoFilms As a fan of the 80's turtles, I was disappointed in how weak and stupid the 80's turtles seemed in this special. That said, it could have been much worse.

  • @pumarunner88

I think they were fine, then again I havnt seen many of their eps :(

  • Very good review. I enjoyed the Turtles Forever special very much, it combined the different universes perfectly.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CGI. I was excited about the new Nick cartoon then I heard CGI. Ugh, blegh, no, no, no. I didn't like the CGI TMNT movie because it was not only CGI, took itself too seriously and the style was just a bit off the wall for me. I always preferred the cartoony look of the 87 cartoon and even the comic style.

  • i have the dvd and i like the movie for the most part but what pisses me off soooooooooo badly is why did they make the 80's turtles sooooooooooooo CHEESEY! like it was overly done. and all of the 80's turtles acted like mikey would act but in a more childish way. and i hate that. i love the 2003 turtles but i grew up with the 80's one. if it wasnt for the comics and 80's turtles, there would be no movies, the live action tv show or even the 2003 turtles show.

  • The original turtles were actually , THAT bad XD it's just that as a kid you don't notice it . I still like them though , not as much as the 2003 series but..yeah

  • optimism over being silly. It's like, you feel depressed but someone's there to help you out.

  • When I saw the plot, I thought of Jet Li's "The One"

Anyway, my biggest gripe was the overshadowing they did on 87's Turtles. We all know the 87s cartoon was based to be lighter than it's darker 84's Mirage Comic selves to appeal to the kids. That's why we loved them so much. They had funny antics to ridicule the baddies during their adventures. As I recalled, they were aware of the seriousness of a situation taken place. It's just somehow, someone lightens the mood. More on the isde of

  • ol skool turtles rule! 87 baby!

  • great review! i share the same gripes and praises for this movie. i'd give it an 7.5/10 rating.

  • If Nick owns The Turtles why don't they do anything with those rights all there shows suck make an new turtles show

  • This movie was amazing! i just found out about it, also I was so happy when I found around 20ish TMNT comics for 50 cents each. I got all of them =D

  • damn, nickolodean is gonna fck up the franchise so bad. cgi? gimme a break. i would love for marvel or dc to buy the franchise to maybe see them in comics again.

turtles prime just kicked so much ass...

  • @omar6182 yeah i think the cgi ones will be stupid, plus nickolodan plays to kids and teens and the show will be so childish

  • It's pretty cool how the turtles of my generation meet the current turtles.

  • GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME

I WWWWWWAAAAAAANNNNTTTTTTT IIIIITTTTTT NNNNNOOOOOOWWWWW GIMME MY COPY NOW PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEE......MY HEAD HURTS.....

  • I love how you play the music from the old cartoon. I agree about the over the top acting for the old cartoon Turtle's. I even knew as a child that bthey where Goofy but noit this Goofy. Also I would of like to have seen April's, Casey's n Splinters counterpart meet for the 1st time!

Still it was a rare treat to see classics abck with the new. The old Turtle's have better facial expressions n for me...,are much cuter which I love!

  • I watched the uncut version on youtube

  • I agree with the consensus that the 1987 Turtles were not well portrayed. Not at all. Instead of calling it "Turtles Forever", they should have just called it "Fuck The 80's Turtles".

  • I grew up with the 80's Ninja Turtles, but I have to say the 2003 Turtles is way better. The fact that it plays closer to the comic and the fact that they tie in the stories better, just makes it more appealing to me. I think the only two things from the 2003 series that I didn't like is the Untrom Shredder and Casey Jones a complete wuss and moron instead of a psychotic vigalante. I think kNIGHTWING is alittle too hard on the 2003 series myself. Other than that, a great review of an epic movie.

  • I agree with your review, especially about the stupidity factor.

I can understand poking fun at the series but they over did it way too much. It's times like that I compare 4kids with a linebacker with butterfingers...

they just kept dropping the ball.

  • Pretty good review "dude"! As a matter of fact, I actually watched the Turtles Forever movie here on Youtube. I really liked it myself, bringing together the 2 universe turtles together. The story was good & there were some funny moments. I could watch it a few more times because I liked watching it. TURTLE POWER & IT'S NINJA TIME DUDE! :)

  • I ahted seeing them run away...

  • I also bought the DVD, I agree as well, I enjoyed it overall, but the way they handled the '87 turtles wasnt the best- far far too goofy , i was slackjawed when they dropped their weapons and ran off from the prime turtles, I thought they should have blocked the attack from the primes, and Raph would have broke out with a line, Hey just because we are from the 90's dosent mean we are going to back down from any other generation" especially after1987's first 5 pilot episodes..

  • them pilot episodes from 1987 which everyone remembers had some kickass animation and half decent fight scenes as well....

  • i agree, they made the 80's turtles way too goofy, they even made Raph goofy, which is weird because, everyone knows that Raph was always the" too cool for school" one. I enjoyed seeing the old school turtles again for a long time. And the scene where the new Shredder found all the other dimension turtles, I loooooved the animation on them, i wish i could put all of them on a t-shirt. anyways great review, you are definately a true turtle fan.... 5 stars

  • i grew up watching both turtles so i really cant chose which one i like good review

  • I LOVED THE MOVIE IT WAS AWESOME

  • SPOT ON REVIEW!!!!

I agree with eeeeeverything you said. You hit it on the nail.

  • The only thing I disliked about Turtles Forever is how they went overboard in making the 87 turtles look silly. Yes, they were goofy at times, but not to the extent portrayed in the movie.

  • I LUVED TMNT 80s I GOT ALMOST EVERY DVD COLLECTION IT VER CAME OUT WITH THIS SHOW GAVE ME HOPE MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS FROM MY FAVORITE SHOW WAS BAK AND THEY PISSED ME OFF ON HOW WRONG THEY GOT THEM NO WAY IN HELL IS DA NEW TMNT BETTA THAN THE OLD ONE PEACE TO ALL ORIGINAL TMNT 80s FANS

  • did they just broke the 4th wall?

  • i liked it!!1 but it reminded me of justice league crisis on two earths... because of the turtle prime..earth prime... thing.. but I LIKE THE 2003 TURTLES BEST!! :)

  • I agree they were pretty hard on the old turtles. They were never cowards like they were depicted in this movie. Even so they made so many great jokes and epic moments that I can forgive those short-comings though it probably helps because I love the 2003 cartoon as well.

I completely agree this was an excellent send off for TMNT up to this point and it's just amazing it even exists because you never see a cross-over like this happen.

The movie just hit DVD but sadly it's a pretty bad release.

  • Hate to say it, but they faced stranger and more stupid things than mutant bananas and leprechauns in the classic cartoon.

  • on a comercial and i was so SICTED to hear tht!! Turtles Forever is my MOST favorite TMNT movie EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • now they hav Turtles Forever on DVD

  • @SuperNinjaTurtleFF

SWEETTTTTTT!!!!! Im soooo buying it! Where did you hear about this, I have to KNOW

  • @kNIGHTWING01 There was an ad on Nicktoons and Nickelodeon

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Don't... the screwed up the DVD. The cover is bland, its fullscreen and its the broadcast version. No special features or anything.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 I'm so buying it!!!

  • @kNIGHTWING01 My buddy just confirmed it, too. I think he found it on the net or something. Not sure man sorry. It's out though. He has it

  • @kNIGHTWING01

Dan Green as 1987 Leonardo (ugh...)

  • @SuperNinjaTurtleFF awsome i just rented it on netflix if i like it ill buy it

  • 2 things i think are WERID!! #1: ONLY 4Kids!TV.com has the director's cut version of Turtles Forever!!! #2: Nickelodeon owns TMNT!!!

  • I love when raph breaks the 4. wall!! I allways LOL'ed at that when i was a kid.

  • @NorwegianStory what does Break the 4 wall mean?

  • @T0NLUVZH3R breaking the 4th wall is when the charater of a show talks dirctly to the person watching the show (you and me) :)

  • I personally did not like the how stupid the movie made the 1987 turtles, and even though I thought the constant poking fun at the old series was funny at first, I found that on repeated viewing it irriated me more and more. Good movie and plot, But I personally felt for the most part the 1987 turtles where mishandled.

  • the classic ninja turtles cartoon was the best unlike the 2k3 1

  • THERE IS REALLY GOOD PARTS IN THIS MOVIE AND THEY WILL GET TAKEN OFF IN THE DVD VERGIN AND THEY ARE PLANNING TO MAKE A PART 2

  • @TONYREYNEL why will there be a difference between the dvd version and tv version? and what will the difference be??

  • Really, I'll miss the 2k3 turtles. I won't be narrow-minded, but 2k3 will 4evr b my fav.

  • turtles forever is coming to dvd august 24.2010

  • Too many spoilers.

Good thing I've seen it already. You need a spoiler warning in your description.

  • Where did you hear the Nick stuff!?!

  • congrats you get a cookie for being the first to mention the "turtles Prime." I loved the ending and that's all I'll say.

  • They didn't get Uncle Phil to voice Shredder.

  • Just Dug out my old 1989 TMNT cards! Thank god I still have those! :)

  • Just Dug out my old 1989 TMNT cards! Thank god I still have those! :)

  • is this out long time or near the end of 2009

  • i read that on the main turtle page

  • ever voice from the turtles to the splinter and the krang, Rocksteady and bebop1990 are all the classic voices. But the shredder is the 2nd voice from the 1995 came.

  • @combi101 No, they're not. Not at all.

  • Cam Clarke did Leonardo? Is that the same actor who did Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid?

  • @BASTARDUS1MAXIMUS No, If you're saying classic cartoon, it was Dan Green (whoever the heck he is)

  • @BASTARDUS1MAXIMUS

Yup, Cam Clarke did both voices. He basically has that sailory, adventurey voice. As an extra tidbit, he also did the voice of He-Man in the 2002 series.

  • I agree with this review. The 1987 cast was portrayed as being a lot more dim-witted and incompetant than they really were. It was still great to see them again, but the writers didn't quite capture who they really were.

  • You're right, the first five episodes of TMNT 87 had great animation. I believe it would've lasted longer if it stayed that way and brought in more characters from the comic. IMHO

  • Didn't the first cartoon series last for nearly 9 years?

  • i watched this movie & i just loved it, i didn't have any problem with it except i wanted leatherhaed 2 appear in it & besides that i enjoyed it

  • there doing another live action movie dude

  • the perfect ending...

  • this was a special gift.

  • This movie was amazing, the best turtles movie ever made.

  • What you mean the 2003 Turtles show is over?

    I love that show. :(

  • It may not have made as grand of an impact as the 87 series, but the 2k3 series did last 8 years, producing over 150 episodes, that's rare for a American animated series nowadays. Even DC and Marvel productions don't enjoy that type of run.

  • @Nicodemus300 Wow! eight years? Shoudn't they be on until 2011 if it came out in 2003?

  • @calamaty more accurately 6 years with 7 seasons, the will still be on since Nick will add it to Nicktoons this year.

  • great review. I agree, the 80s turtles were way too cowardly in this movie. They did fight in a comical way, though, always utilizing their surrounding while the new turtles fought with more style, so they got that part right.

  • can anyone tell me what cgi satnds for or wut it means?

  • @chakabaka computer generated images

  • @tyloroberts14 oh ok thanks.

  • @chakabaka

    Computer Generated Image

  • fuck nick has lost all of their touch unlike the early 20s. fuck fuck fuck

    (many hours of cursing later)

'sigh' now their gonna fuck up my generation

Thank god the old generation isn't theirs

  • at 6:31 the turtles on the bottom left look like something that belongs in Unreal Tournament.

  • Nickelodeon owns the turtles! NO!

  • @Superhumanattack Just be glad that its Nickelodeon then Disney cause disney fucks up every thing like marvel

  • @scarthman2 What are you taking about? Marvels fine.

  • Give it time Disney with mess it up just look at Doug bad ass show when it was on Nickelodeon then Disney bought it then it sucked ass everything changed omg a bullet sound better then watching that crap

  • @Superhumanattack POWER RANGERS ALSO.

  • @EPICGAMEBOY Well maybe will get some power ranger dvds out of it.

  • false nick is going 2 continue with the 2011 new movie, and nick is gonna make a new show as u said. personaly I think this is reaaaalllyyy coooool movie turtles forever

  • Well, they are better, so... you know.

  • good review man...

  • Awesome review, bro!

  • It sucks that Nickoloadeon has control of Tmnt. I HATE NIKOLOADOEN!!!!!! I want the tmnt free from nickoloadeon.... It suck I tell you SUCKS!!! I want them to go back to their old um... i think the word would be company.

  • well remember when 4kids purchased the franchise back at 2003 a lot people feel the same at 4kids as you feel about nickelodeon, even thought i agree that cgi is definitely inferior to animation, I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt

  • Nickelodeon ought to just stick to what they know.....

Mediocre kids shows with 90% humor like what they have now.

I'm looking in your direction Sponge Bob (tolerable), Fairly Odd Parents and Drake and Josh.

Nickelodeon was better back in the 90s when they had shows like Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Double Dare and Wild and Crazy Kids.

  • @Nicksolo85 I agree. I loved You can't do that on television, Doug, Rocko's modern life, Double Dare (kinda). Nickelodeon should leave our boys in green alone.

  • Another thing that should be done is that they should get the 87 cartoon back on basic cable.

It would be awesome if there was another network dedicated specifically to either 80s and 90s cartoons or action cartoons.

Hell, it would be awesome to have both TMNT cartoons on 1 network and if they aired side-by-side in either order.

The shows on Nickelodeon in the 90s weren't really mediocre (in my opinion) but a lot of what they have now is mediocre and/or just plain retarded in my opinion.

  • @Nicksolo85 Test-i-fy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hope Nickelodeon combines all the turtles from the different generations together. And the movie will be CGI just like the 2007 TMNT

  • Utrommmmm ya fuck

  • This is so unfair. why did Nicklodeon get thr rights to TMNT. the 2003 series was the best of them all n now their gonna screw it up. i never relly was around (aka alive) when the 1988 turtles were around on television and thus never was a Huge fan of it. It made the 2003 look like the beast of the turtles series ever to be aired on tv. im very nervous once tmnt is getting redone by nicklodeon. I thought the past series were more like a joke and this modern day sereies was the king. were ded

  • A couple of things...

    1. The movie they annouced is still coming out, it's just coming out a year later than announced.

    2. The original Turtle VA's didn't reprise their roles here because they're all union voice actors and 4Kids doesn't use union actors.

    3. The part where the 80's Turtles throw the trash cans was most likely just a knock at the fact that they hardly used their weapons in the cartoon.

  • I can't wait for the dvd. i love this movie

  • @kNIGHTWING01

One line that was funny was when 87 [or CC, short for classic cartoon as I like to call it] Raphael broke the 4th wall then Hun looks at the camera with a confused look, grabs CC Raphael and says "WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THAT? WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO? THERE'S NO ONE THERE!"

Another funny moment was when CB [short for comic book] Shredder appears, says "I am here! Come and face your..." and then [before he can finish] he get's hit by trash cans and falls off the building.

  • i herd Karai is in the new live action film that got pick up again, is that true?

  • i luv dis movie!!!!!

  • apparountly its coming out on dvd as for nick taking it over i dont know how i like that looking at todays shows

  • Awesome. I think for the comics it takes place before the first issue, since the Shredder was still alive.

  • @MarkC18

Not really, the first issue is the first time they meet Shredder (he didn't even know about the turtles until they challenged him).

  • The 1987 turtles ended when I was born. It's kinda cool. but sad that I never saw them ever until I saw this movie on Youtube.

  • i know right, same thing happened with me, but my older cousin lived on TMNT, so i sorta grew up with 1987 turtles, rather than the currant turtles

  • I really dig your videos, im loving the turtles month you have going, turtles were a big part of my childhood, i remember being a kid and wanting to be a ninja turtle when i grew up, even if i wasnt a turtle dang nabbit, i was going to do it.

  • I totally agreed with the fact that the 87 turtles were too corny in this movie and I kind of felt dishonored by their pro trail and their voice acting was a bit forced too... Besides that seeing the Mirage turtles 87 turtles and 2003 turtles was awesome also looking at the brief scene where Shredder looks at the multi dimensions you can see the classic ninja turtles from the live action movies.

  • The 2003 tmnt refernced and made fun the 1987 turtles. I wish they would have had 1987 Casey Jones make a cameo.

  • the 87 turtles lasted till 96? i was born in 96!!!!!! awesome

  • WHAAA?!? end of the 2k3 seiries??? it cant be!!! well i guess it had its run.. but this better not be the end of the turtle franchise itself!!! or i will be sooooo pissed!

  • As for the end of the TMNT comics, Laird is actually allowed to make 18 tmnt comics per year if he chooses. That's the only power he has now though.

  • I love your review on the whole concept. It was well put together. and i just love the way u explained every single plot in the story. I agree with you all the way, i love Ninja Turtles and watching the classics come back to life again just makes me feel like a kid again. I'm going to miss those 1987 Turtles so much.

  • Good review! I agree with what you say. The 1987 TMNT were bad-mouthed, but overall an awesome movie!

  • Oh man, I live in Australia and I don't even think they showed this at all! Damn!

  • Turtles Forever kicked so much ass.

I hope it get's released to DVD.

In honor of TMNT's 25th Anniversary, I am currently working on a 4 part tribute blog on MySpace. It has a history lesson [comics, TV shows, movies, etc] that's why I decided to split it into 4 parts.

I am currently working on part 3.

I hope to have this 4 part tribute and a review blog of TMNT Turtles Forever all by December 25th, 2009.

  • There's another nostalgic reference, when shredder wears the antigas mask, he looks exactly like shredder from the live action movies.

  • Townsend was, is, and forever will be the greatest Michaelangelo EVER

  • I agree that the goofiness was over the top, but there's a legitamite reason why the '87 turtles were such cowards in this movie, especially at the end. In their world, they know they're on a TV show, and they know that neither they nor their enemies are going to get killed, because they have to come back for the next episode.

In the Mirage universe, that rule does not exist, and so it was now possible that they could die. The realization that they could be killed is what caused them to run.

  • i would like to point out that 80s Mikey sounds alot like Link from the CDI games, which is in some ways funny

  • The girl he cheated on you with must've watched this movie with him.

  • You are an awkward dude.

  • with the exception of the voices for the 87 turtles, all on the movie was over the top.... the comedy, action, and alot of fan service...... i really hope to se this movie on DVD soon.....

  • The Movie was Great! I loved the 87 Turtles and the 03 Turtles! I'm to young for the comics. But the 03 Turtles began to die with Flash Forward. And 87 began to die, we'll I can't remember toughs guys. TURTLE POWER!!!

  • I really loved the 200X show. It allready combined aspects of the b/w comics, the archie comics, the classic cartoon show and even the movies. So to see the Turtles getting redone again kinda kills me on the inside.

I just hope those suits at VIACOM know what they are doing with this francise.

  • oh and the movie was great.

i loved those nods to the other incarnations ^^

  • I honestly don't know what to think about Nickelodeons series I'm a fan of CG-i (sue me) so I'm looking forward to that and the inclusion of old and new characters is awesome but since Nickelodeon is more about comedy I'm hoping they'll combine the humor of the 80's show with the characters of the 2003 show...

  • man i wish that they made a game from this movie

  • they have its for the ds but i think they should do like the old tmnt games like turtles n time or tmnt arcade classic it be so cool

  • Ubisoft could've put the 80s turtles in Ninja Turtles Smash Up if they wanted to, that would sell alot more, yea they'd probably have the same moveset as the present day turles but it would still be a good idea, plus most of the character choices for the game were from the modern day series of course, which was a huge dissappointment although i guess it can slide i mean it wwas still a great game

  • You know whats funny? everything you said was dead on and i was thinking the same thing word for word. from the turtle being dumb and scary to the voices. your a pretty good reviewer and knows what everyone else know. good job mate.

  • I loved the subtle nods to the old series as well. Like when the 8 turtles first find the Technodrome and the screen pans out, a scene found in the original's intro with the 4 classic turtles.

Also the two Channel 6 reporters (not including April) and pompadour guy. ha

worst thing about it: made me miss the classic turtles animation!

  • "a scene found in the original ** outro ** (the still image)"

ya, i meant the scene at the credits...and really it's not the credits image itself, it's the end credits episode.. woops!

bah, you fans knew exactly what scene i meant from the beginning :]
