  • I hate the GBA version. Mainly because they screwed up the lyrics. Who came along and changed em. The origionals were better. Also the crap music and the actual voice sound makes this sound like crap. I could compare it to someone playing a piano and hitting wrong keys all the time. As well as that half the time Celes's upper body is blocked by the cieling of the castle at the start so you can barley see her where as SNES version didn't. GBA sucks SNES rocks. I dont mean the GBA itself sucks...

  • @tuzathedarknight

The GBA lyrics are infinitely better than the SNES version. Try to compare each note Maria/Celes sings to a syllable of the lyrics. The lyrics/melody go hand in hand in the GBA version but the SNES version misses a few beats or has too many syllables for a string of notes.

  • I like the GBA lyrics better but the SNES had a much better sound card.... much better.

  • @justa16thnote honestly, I think the only difference that was a stupid change was the learn rates. It only adds to the already countless hours of unnecessary ap grinding.

  • It's good but the video is off pace with the music. I have always loved this game and this particular part of the game.

  • Love the song, hate the new translation.

  • I played through the game twice just for this scene...beautiful, man, just beautiful...

  • I just love how they switch from terra being the main character to Celes.

  • This is reason number 100 to like nintendo?

  • whatever you say ..

the snes/psx version is much much better!

the lyrics are deeper and more romantic in my honest opinion!

  • mmmm ...

my heart was trembling while i watched that scene. someone saw the orchester-version of it? really awesome !

and yes: the snes version really was much better. it didn't sound so crappy after all ...

  • I remember this scene. I remember it irritated the shit out of the me the first time I played it...

  • I like the GBA version better since it better incorporates how Celes's voice would sound like. That is a majour factor when it came to the opera scene, in my opinion.

Amazing game. One of my favourite RPGs.

  • She's supposed to be a soprano and the original voice is too low

  • Did you guys know [well seeing how your watching this then this is a stupid question] that Aerith's theme was born from this scene?

  • @KittyEvangeline

I hate aerith, thanks for ruining this scene for me =P

  • 1. What's wrong with Celes' head? O_o

    2. I liked the GBA version better, the words match the flow of the song much better, Celes doesn't sound like a robot :P, and the translation is more true to the original Japanese lyrics.

  • Yeah, accuracy aside, when you compare the SNES and the GBA translations of this scene, this one looks totally butchered. These words just don't flow well.

The SNES had a superior sound chip and a larger aspect ratio to enhance this scene as well, but that can't be helped. Would recommend to anyone watching this that they also search for and watch the SNES version.

  • What? I know it's two months old, but the lyrics were changed to rhyme and match the music more. Not nostalgic enough for you?

God I hate nostalgiafags. When there were mods to change FF7's shitty models to look better in the PC version everyone hated it for not being nostalgic enough and it didn't have enough "charm" (whatever the fuck that is) and I just fucking raged.

  • @Deciheximal

the gba had a better sound chip, but the snes sounded better anyways. HOWEVER, the gba did certain things like vocals better than the snes ever could. on the snes her voice was just a controlled beep. here, its for real.

  • @LamentOfInnocence It's a long debate over which had the better sound chip. I should note that the GBA had only two sound channels (+GBC) while the SNES had 8. But yes, the actual Celes vocals seem to have a slight advantage on the GBA. I'm really thrown off by the rest, though.

  • I found this part to be truly wonderful and one of the most beautiful parts of this game. The way they made the characters sing even without voices was breathtaking and the lyrics wrenched my heart and reminded me of the purity of love. Damn that's a good video game.

  • Word.

  • i like the SNES version better! :o I wonder why they changed it????

  • Yeah! I love this opera! And this is only music that is better quality in GBA. :O

BTW. What is that music in the start?

  • i think they pulled this off suprisingly well for a SNES/GBA game. I like this part of teh game

  • THis is my favorite opera, out of Vivaldi and all of them.

  • "I'm the darkness

    you're the starlight

    Shining brightly from afar"

    Beatiful T_T

  • sniff sniff....

  • This scene almost makes you want to cry.

  • they should remake 6 in 3D instead of 7

  • i love this so much i cry

  • I am crying like a girl listening this now T_T So nice, and a lot of memories ...

  • Price Ralse?

    How'd that slip by?

  • wats the name of the music that plays in the room at the beggining before the opera?

  • Overture.

  • I must admit, I like the lyrics for the original opera better, but I appreciate the improved sound when it comes to Celes's singing

  • beautiful

  • I loved this Song/Theme, I wish there was a Person who Sang it... Literally! <:3

  • wen they remake it for the ds (trust me they will) it will probably have actually singing in it. :)

  • Look up "Darkness and Starlight" by The Black Mages. Song's in Japanese, but the vocals are stunning nonetheless. It's about 16 minutes long (includes the whole opera). There's also a 23 minute long version in Italian.

And to what AyJay 100 said, yes, when the DS remake comes out, there will be singing, you can count on it. =^-^=

  • Well the voice is better than the snes version but the musics not but hey still awesome!

  • Also, great job Celes, you were beautiful! I love this song and I've even download the full Opera version to my PSP.

  • The first time time I heard this I could have sworn the lyrics were different(and they're out of sync). The playstation version is much better (Anthology version) but I think the last part "Our love, come what may..." is better than the PS1 version's ending, but "I'll wait for you always" was better than "forevermore".

  • I think the various releases of the game used alternative translations, so the lyrics are different depending on whether you play the SNES, GBA or PS.

  • I know people are going to disagree, but I hated the GBA version of 6, VI is my all time favorite thats no question there, but I just didn't like the GBA version. However... I like how the opera house scene feels enhanced in the GBA version. it made that scene even more powerful

  • GBA version is good, but it has crappy music (minus this!!!! This is great!) and I think music quality is putting it lower position than SNES version, as afterall GBA version didn't have so much added.

  • Its not all that bad sure, at least not for its portability. So if your a fan of FF6 and really badly want to play it on a long trip well then FFVI:A is the answer, but if your at home with the option of the SNES or PSX version chances are you'd pick those (I use "you" in general not you as in Junafani)

  • This is so corny, but I love it XD

  • is this the ps1/snes version? or the gba version? btw, what's the name of this song? ill try to download in bluelaguna

  • I'm playing this game for the fourth time right now (once every two years ;-). And every time this scene is my favorite part. If they rereleased the game in 3D and left everything else the same, I would immediately buy it. It could then fight with FFVII for first place in my personal "best game ever" list!

  • This was my absolute favorite part.

  • Exactly. The opera in FF VI, battle of the gardens in FF VIII, and "You're Not Alone" in FF IX are some of the most epic moments in FF history.

  • I love this. It's really sweet. ^^

  • i wanted the GBA version, but i got the ps version. but it wouldn't matter cuz i got ffvi (and v).

  • wow..... The original was touching, but this one can't get through my heart. The dialouge of this version really dissapoints me and it's a bunch of fancy whatever slapped at each other!!! The SNES dialouge really was wonderful, unlike compared to the GBA version, in my opinion. Even though they are somewhat simialar....

  • hmm? Im impressed, from what Ive seen, this was actually an imrovement to what the snes had, contrary to most of the other music in the game. though Il still always love the snes version... I still prefer those lyrics

  • probably one of my favorite moments in a video game ever.

  • I played the SNES version and, wow! the translation was horrible.

5/5, the best part of the best RPG.

  • very frequent thing on the older FF's

  • Nicely done rewrite.

  • I loved this song in FF3/6 :3

  • Hu? I know a very different song ^^'

  • They changed it up so that the words fit best with the music/voice.

  • If you want to see some huge translation differences, check out the SNES version.

Though both versions follow the Phonetics to the song, you get 2 very different dialogues.

  • the Snes version cant touch this one though.

  • How do you throw the flowers?

  • press comfir button :D lol

  • The epitome of RPG gaming, best FF by far...

  • mwa hahahaha!

  • WTF is so funny?

  • hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have the game!!

  • Lol!!!
