Did You Season The Wood Yourself Or did You Have It Delivered Dry? I Got Delivered A Cord Of Red Oak, Paid $335 For It, the listing said seasoned and split. it came as Green, And Now Needs 2-3 Years.
@skyman2002 Cut, split and seasoned the wood myself, if you set up a nice airy woodrack with the top covered that oak will be ready to burn next season.
@enginenut I believe you, I see, you done a good job on it all, I would be careful with that sassy frass though!! Hehehehe...pop...pop...pzerrrrrr! Hehehehe! Peace!
After watching another great, informative, video from you yet again, I had a question, and a concern. First the question; I was wondering what exactly is the fan blowing into, or what is its job? I assume its not blowing air into the fire/box it self? So there must be a kinda outer cavity, that it is blowing/circulating, the hot air around the hot fire box, and into your room? Yes? I'll make another post for my concern, I'm running out of charactors.
@MrGraygrizz Hello, there is a heat shield on the back of the stove welded to the firebox, with pre-punched holes for mounting blowers. This helps circulate the heat coming off of the stove more efficiently. Yes-correct it is not blowing air into the firebox but the outer cavity/air space on the stoves back. The difference in adding a blower to a woodstove greatly improves the warm air movement within your home, in my opinion a must if you "burn" to supplement your main household heating system.
hi there you said the fire is cooking around 325, I'm in Australia. i assume thats farenheight?? i can see the thermometre is on the flu pipe. Ii was wandering what the actual tempereture is directly on top of the box, right in front of thre flu pipe??
@roxos32 Not really sure...never took a tempature reading from there, it won't be too long now before its' fired up again. I will check it out and let you know.
Hi there, nice setup. I to am modifying my wood stove to use a Dayton blower. Can you tell me which model blower that is and what exactly did you call the speed control setup? Thanks for your help.
@lightflyer1972 Hello, the Dayton blower is Model 4C0068, the speed control is done with a rheostat, a device which is used to vary the resistance in an electrical circuit without interrupting the circuit, just like a light dimmer. By slowing the movment of air across the back of the stove it has time to become warmer when exiting out the stoves top.
@312T3Tamiya My camera really picked up on the fan noise, it is a pretty quiet runner. I wanted to keep the fan in the house so it can kind of re-circulate the inside air.
I wish that my parents would do something with our fireplace. I love watching fires. Are you going to do any videos about your cars. It looks like you have quite a few of them. I would love to see a video of your collection. I just got a mini e-revo vxl for christmas. I took it to the track today and it performed great. I was able to go under big cars and it was a lot of fun beating my friend at a race against his mini slash. You always have great videos and I would love to see more from you.

Does the blower blow the air up the back of the stove? Do you have other fans to move the heat to other parts of the house?

Very nice stove you modified ,But a bit noisy fan couldn't you get the air from the blower out of the garage that should bring the fan noise down.
But maybe it only seems to make noise on the video and in real is much less.
Nice to see it work do :-)
Happy new year .
Cheers Alex
