  • the only thing that ruins it is the robotic voices. however parables are a powerful thing

  • The inherent desire to even vocalize one's beliefs as nihilistic completely condemns that person to the halls of hypocrisy where all but the stupidest realize just how hilarious people like you are Jake.

  • @R0WMaC I never said subjective meaning can't exist, I'm speaking of objective meaning and all that. Although whatever subjective meaning you give yourself will cease to exist and it will be as if it never happened at all so it doesn't matter.

I vocalize my opinion because I want to, I never said my opinion matters. It's a way to let people realize nothing matters in the world. It doesn't mean you have to shut down and kill yourself/stop living.

The point is life doesn't matter.

  • Worst... Voice actors.... EVER!!!

  • who cares

  • @outlawformetal614 No one. :)

  • "Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

No doubt you will disagree, but I am happy in my finite existence and I cherish the precious time I have living my life. If you want to see the glass as half empty just because you are afraid of losing it all then that's your choice, but it is by no means a definitive philosophy that makes you superior in any sense.

  • It's one thing to lose something. It's a completely different story for it to have never existed in the first place.

It's not fear, it's desire. I don't want to have to go through that. It's not like it's going to matter one way or another. I don't want to love someone knowing through every second of it that it never actually happened. That would be more depressing than if it never happened at all. At least in my perspective. Superiority? Both of our points are equally pointless.

  • @14sJakeB190 So stop retorting to people and debating with people who don't even "exist," hypocrite.

  • @TallBoyBlue1 I'm not retorting, and that's as equally pointless as debating with them. I do what I want to do because it doesn't matter.

  • atheism and nihilism and not contradictory concepts, most nihilists are atheists. this video is stupid

  • @YourRoadToHell Are you retarded by birth or by choice?

"most nihilist are atheists" Really? Like just really???? No shit Sherlock. How long did it take for you to figure that one out?

The point of the video is not that one is an atheist and the other isn't.

It's that some Atheists still think their life can have some sort of meaning or purpose. Some even believe in objective morality. It's pathetic.

  • @14sJakeB190

you prob some emo or gothc kid !

  • @14sJakeB190 Nihilism, to me, is a dumb concept. It's like "Okay, life sucks, so I'm going to make life suck even more by constantly thinking and talking about how much it sucks and how meaningless it is."

You should watch Steve Jobs's Stanford Commencement Speech. In it, he talks about how he was diagnosed with cancer and KNEW he was going to die, and that took away his fear of death and made him live his life to the FULLEST.

  • @TallBoyBlue1 He may have had the best or worst life ever. He may have done whatever he wanted to do. It was all still pointless. What's the point in doing something you won't remember. It's like a person with the Alzheimer disease watching a video then forgetting about it a few minutes later. That was pointless. Kind of like life. If you don't remember it, it might as well not exist. And anything is worth nothing if it doesn't exist.

  • @14sJakeB190 Your attitude towards this problem is the source of the problem itself.

Even though there isn't anything after death, I'd still rather spend the full life I DO have positively, rather than moping about it the entire time. I'm here. I'm alive. I plan to enjoy it. You CHOOSE not to.

  • @TallBoyBlue1 I'm not sad, angry, or sulking in misery now about life. I'm neither happy nor sad about it. I find it just neutral, like everything. Just like I no longer care when people live or die. I do try my best to hate life. I do this on purpose so I can enjoy non-existence. If I hate life, I'll want it to end. If I enjoyed it, I'll want it to continue. Hate is good. But I'm not upset about it either way.

There is no point in getting excited about something that never happened or existed.

  • @TallBoyBlue1 Are you really that stupid? We can choose to do what we wish. Not all nihilists keep thinking life sucks nor do I. I acknowledge the fact that there is no absolute meaning because that's true. But i still enjoy and have fun as much as possible. But then again if others want to live differently that's fine. But your argument is flawed and false.

  • A cosmic accident or by design, i don't see how it matters regarding life. Life is rare, no escaping that fact. Anyway i often get confused by what one means by "meaning". As an empiricist, logic and maths have meaning, its information that can be manipulated. Ones perspective of maths (example) is irrelevant, no one can change these facts. Yeah anyway why do you hate the world? If you don't mind me asking.

  • Who really gives a rats ass about God or how the world was created? I care nothing about how the world was created or why. Meaning? I care nothing about meaning/purpose.

God couldn't give our lives meaning even if one existed.

I hate doing something where in the end it will all have been as if I never did it. Have you ever played a video game for a LONG time, then the save file erases?

Yeah, I hate that. It's why I hate existence. All your thoughts and memories, gone as if it never happened.

  • @TrenchCoatMafia33

You look at everything in the absence of consciousness. Why? Conscious is a beautiful aspect of darwanian evolution, its a shame you can't enjoy the beauty of it.

  • @JahJah920 Beauty? It doesn't matter how beautiful or ugly anything is. It's all equally pointless.

Enjoy something that never happened? How can you?

Do you not enjoy your thoughts, your accomplishments, and everything else you have done? Do you like the fact that it will be as if you've never thought of anything, done nothing, accomplished nothing?

Even if you saved the earth from an alien invasion, or cured cancer, *to you the individual* when you die it will be as if you never lived.

  • @TrenchCoatMafia33

Your issue is just depression in general.

  • @JahJah920 Depression? Can you tell me what is there to be happy about your entire life vanishing into nothingness?

  • @TrenchCoatMafia33 It doesn't matter how life was created so we agree there. However if you don't know what "Meaning" or "purpose" is, then what are we talking about lol. To me meaning = knoweldge. Purpose probably for life = survival. It is however a pointless purpose, survival but i like that it makes us free rather than some gods bitch. Existance is a bitch though, death sucks and i agree. Still i like challenges, ill try and maintain my life for as long as i can. Run out of characters :(

  • @Mr

I didn't say I didn't know what it was. I said I care nothing about it.

All that knowledge, will vanish into oblivion.

Survival is futile, none of us will survive death in the end.

Freedom from God is great. But I'm not sure which is worst.

Hypothetically if you could chose one.

Being Gods bitch and getting to live forever in happy paradise, or living for a little in a fucked up world and vanishing into nothingness.

I would rather the exist forever minus the God part away from this world.

  • actually this is negative/ passive nihilism vs political/ positive nihilism.

although to be honest i think the terms passive and political are misleading. and positive and negative is a bit mean-spirited for my taste. it name invention time!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm glad my life isn't infested with meaning. I have enough to do without having to deal with a reason for living.

  • @Chuck1863 and that would be?

  • @lobofaca707 What would what be? If you mean a reason for living, I don't have one. Evolution by natural selection designed me a brain that automatically tries to keep its body alive so I go on living without needing to worry about a reason for doing so.

  • @Chuck1863 why so frustrated? What is it that you do that makes you tired enough not to deal with a reason for living?

  • @lobofaca707 I'm not tired. I spend my time actually living instead of thinking about having a reason for living.

  • @Chuck1863 Ain't that right? I love it. Nothing matters. I'm glad natural selection gave us heroes like Eric and Dylan who sacrificed their lives and shot those fucks at columbine.

Same goes for Cho, Pekka, and all the others.

I love how I don't have to treat other people nice and and all they do is complain about how an imaginary god is going to send me to imaginary hell for laughing at the twin towers falling down. haha. I love being able to do whatever i want and it's not going to matter.

  • @TrenchCoatMafia33 At least it's more honest than claiming you're doing those things for some god. Fortunately, most atheists don't act like that just as most Christians don't murder in the name of Jesus.

  • @TrenchCoatMafia33 "I love being able to do whatever i want and it's not going to matter." So thats your agender TrenchCoat. I see that your using nilhilism to justify your hatred towards others. I find it ironic really seeing how nilhilism gives you freedom as this is a fallacy as freedom is to a nihilist something meaningless. Nihilism has given your life meaning, a violent meaning but non the less a fallacious purpose. Fancy chatting in inbox? Theres no 500 character limit.

  • @MrKingatheist My opinions, your opinions, and all other opinions, ideas, thoughts, and everything else, is in fact, meaningless. There is no meaning, there is only personal opinion through perspective of the world.

I hate others who think life is something "special" when it's not.

It's a cosmic accident. Steven Hawkings came up with that one not me.

Honestly I guess I like the idea of meaninglessness. I hate this world and I wish it didn't exist. At least we'll all cease to exist in the end.

  • @Chuck1863 probably one of the most intellectually honest comment i've ever seen.

  • lol, and yet suicide rates are higher among religious people :P

not to mention the prison rates or teen pregnancies.

How many Christians would it take for 1 to realize maybe they are missing something :P

Answer : None, They are happy in their little bubble that prevents thinking of such things.

  • @davelantor Religion? This is not about religion. This is about one version of Atheism vs another version of Atheism. Nihilist are the true and final form of Atheism.
